News and Notes:

Lua Scaling Update:

  • Lua Plugins are now supported by UI Scaling. By default, plugins will not scale. Check the "Use Global Scaling" option checkbox in the Plugin Manager to enable scaling.
  • Note: The majority of errors that occur when UI Scaling is enabled for a plugin occur due to missing Edge Attachments. Control class will error when a Control resizes larger than the maximum and points to the offending Control's creation source file and line number.
  • Plugin authors can change the scaling for their plugin with the following commands.
  • Window:
    • Method - Window:SetScalingOriginPoint(left, top);
      • Set the point the Window scales around. Default position is 0,0.
      • Disabled when the plugin is not using UI Scaling
    •  Method - Window:GetScalingOriginPoint();
      • Get the point the Window scales around. Default position is 0,0.
      • Returns: left, top
      • Disabled when the plugin is not using UI Scaling
    •  Method - Window:RegisterForGlobalScaling();
      • Enable Global scaling multiplier for the Window's scale
      • Disabled when the plugin is not using UI Scaling
    •  Method - Window:UnregisterForGlobalScaling();
      • Disable Global scaling multiplier for the Window's scale
      • Disabled when the plugin is not using UI Scaling
    • Method - Window:SetUIScalingGroup(UIScalingGroup);
      • Set the UIScalingGroupType assignment for the Window.
      • If the plugin is not using Global scaling, enables scaling for this Window.
    •  Method - Window:GetUIScalingGroup();
      • Get the UIScalingGroupType assigned for the Window.
      • Returns: UIScalingGroupType enumeration
    •  Method - Window:SetScale(scale);
      • Updates the local scale of the Window. If registered for Global scaling, this value is multiplied by the Global scale factor.
      • If the plugin is not using Global scaling, enables scaling for this Window.
    •  Method - Window:GetScale();
      • Get the total scale of the Window (global scale * local scale)
      • Returns: scale
    •  Event - Window:UIScaleChanged();
      • Event fired when the player changes a UI scaling option that affects the window. Can be either the Global group or the assigned group.
  •  Display:
    • Static Method - Display:GetUIGroupScale( UIScalingGroupIndex );
      • Gets the value of the player's UI scaling option matching the requested UIScalingGroupIndex.
      • See UI scaling group index list below.
  •  Plugin:
    • Static Method - Plugin:GetUsesGlobalScaling();
      • Gets the whether or not the loaded plugin is set to use Global scaling.
      • This only works for loaded plugins
  • The following methods have been moved from LuaWindow to LuaControl:
    • GetMinimumWidth
    • SetMinimumWidth
    • GetMinimumHeight
    • SetMinimumHeight
    • GetMinimumSize
    • SetMinimumSize
    • GetMaximumWidth
    • SetMaximumWidth
    • GetMaximumHeight
    • SetMaximumHeight
    • GetMaximumSize
    • SetMaximumSize
  • Control:
    • Method - Control:AttachEdges( Left, Top, Right, Bottom );
      • This method tells the LuaControl how to update its size and positioning (per edge) when its parent element is resized.
      • Parameters are EdgeAttachmentType
      • This method only applies to child controls
      • Must be used for controls with stretch modes in order for the control to correctly scale with UI scaling.
    •  Event - Control:GetEdgeAttachments();
      • Get the EdgeAttachmentTypes set for the control
      • Returns:  Left, Top, Right, Bottom
      • Return values are EdgeAttachmentType
  •  Turbine.UI.EdgeAttachmentType - Enumeration:
    • None - Dimensions remain unchanged
    • Center - Move this edge to be half of this control's width (Left or Right edge) or height (Top or Bottom edge) from the center of the parent control.
    • Mirror - Adjust this edge to be the same pixel distance between this control's opposite edge and the parent's opposite edge.
    • Proportional - Keep the same ratio distance between this control's edge and the parent's corresponding edge.
    • Opposite - Keep the same pixel distance between this control's edge and the parent's opposite edge.
    • Same - Keep the same pixel distance between this control's edge and the parent's corresponding edge.
    • RatioProportional - Adjust this edge to match object's size ratio compared against the this control's orthagonal edges' positions. Can be used in conjunction with Same/Opposite/Proportional for this control's opposite edge to keep the size ratio while matching the positioning for that opposite edge.
