Update 49.5 Release Notes

Here are the Release Notes for Update 49.5: In Good Company, released on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2026.

Of Special Note:

The 19th Legendary Items and 8th PvMP Reward Tracks are now available!

The 19th Legendary Items Reward Track and 8th PvMP Reward Track begin at 10:00 AM Eastern (-4 GMT) on September 2nd and continue until 9:59 AM Eastern (-4 GMT) on December 2nd, 2026. VIPs can unlock access to the PvMP Reward Track at a 50% discount in the LOTRO Store! On the 19th Legendary Items Reward Track, you can earn the Tome of the Mottled Vulture, decorate your home with the spooky decor of the Dol Guldur Prison or create a festive Feasting Hall, and look for the Golden Stag Family of pets to claim. New Rewards in the PvMP Track include new appearances for each Monster Play class and a selection of cosmetic items for weapons and the "March!" skill!"

Angmar and Mordor reach level cap 115 on September 9th!

The Legendary Worlds of Angmar and Mordor will see a level cap increase to 115 when the game worlds reopen following weekly maintenance on Wednesday, September 9th, 2026. Additionally, the seventh through ninth Ringwraiths will be available. Read more about this Veil of the Nine experience on LOTRO.com. Additionally, the raid The Abyss of Mordath will open at Noon Eastern on Thursday, September 17th, 2026 for both Tier 1 and Tier 2 difficulty.

The Treasure Bugan Event Returns!

The Treasure Bugan event returns starting at 10:00 AM Eastern (-4 GMT) on September 10th, 2026 with new cosmetic rewards! The new rewards include a Treasure Grim cosmetic pet, an Arnorian Raven-tower housing decoration, and the title “the Hoarder”.

News and Notes:

PvMP/Ettenmoors:

  • Roots killed in the Delving of Frór now count toward the Denizens of the Deep quest.
  • Removed the level requirement on the Black and Striped Red-maw appearance item for Warg Stalkers.
  • Several quests at Gramsfoot were adjusted to bestow if you have completed newer or older versions of the Ettenmoors monster tutorials.
  • Removed an errant in the description of the Killing in the name of... quests.
  • Updated the Package of Schematics to correctly reference Battering Rams and Ballistas.

Localization:

  • FRENCH: The "Sea Blue" dye's translation has been updated to "Azur Océan" to be distinct from the "Ocean Blue" dye.
  • FRENCH: Changed Niveau to Niv. in the player inspection panel to make it easier to review the level of players over 100 in French.
  • GERMAN: Dialogue with Egil Altbart in the Crafting: Maker's Hall now displays properly in German
  • GERMAN: Initial quest dialogue for Beating Back Brigands and Braised Boar Belly now displays properly in German
  • GERMAN AND FRENCH: German and French translations for "Well-Built Cage" have been updated
  • GERMAN: The translation for "Badger hause" has been updated to "Dachsbau"

Miscellaneous:

  • Animations for Dual Wielding weapon sheathing have been improved for the Elf and Hobbit Avatars.
  • Animations on the Ancient Bench, Uncomfortable Chair, and Dol Guldur couch housing items now display properly.
  • Clipping issues from the Promised Allies Armour sets and Promised Allies Mount have been resolved.
  • Animations for the milestone_promise emote have been updated for River Hobbit Female and Stout-Axe Male.
