Welcome to the Rivendell Steadings!
Update 48 sees the launch of our newest premium neighbourhood, the Rivendell Steadings. Nestled high in the mountains just to the west of the Vale of Imladris, players now have the opportunity to call Rivendell home! Here’s everything you need to know about how to visit the neighborhood and purchase a home for yourself.
When Will Rivendell Housing Be Available?
Rivendell Steadings will debut at Noon Eastern (-4 GMT) on Thursday, April 30th. When access is enabled, there will be an initial slate of fifteen neighborhoods available to explore and purchase. As neighborhoods fill up, more layers become unlocked.
For the first week of Rivendell Steadings being available, the threshold for the housing system to generate new layers will be greatly reduced to help ensure that demand can be met.
How to get to the Steadings:
There are multiple ways to get to the Rivendell Steadings. The main entrance of the neighborhood is a quick walk south-west from the Rivendell stables, right before the tree bridge crossing. You can also access the neighbourhood from Bree-town via the Broker’s Office as well as from the new Rivendell Steadings Broker’s Board in Lalia’s Market.

Exploring the Steadings:
Upon speaking with the Rivendell Housing Broker Hirthamel you can accept his quest and tour the neighbourhood. This quest leads you through all the major points of interest, housing types, and amenities that can be found within to help familiarize yourself with the space.
Within the Steadings, you can find a small Town Center that offers a variety of services and crafting facilities, as well as a Stable-Master near the exit to help you get to your adventures.
Each Steadings neighbourhood has two standard homes, four deluxe homes, and one kinship home. Anyone can purchase the standard and deluxe homes, but your kinship will need to be Rank 7 or higher to purchase a kinship home. As of this writing, a kinship can own only one home, so if you are planning to move your kinship, you will need to abandon your current kinship home.
Each home in the neighborhood has the following hook features:
- Exterior
- All Mobile Yard Hooks
- Property Fence Hook
- Ambient Environment (aka – Dayfile) Hook
- Music Hook
- Hitching Posts
- Personal Mailbox
- Interior
- Furniture, Floor, Wall, and Ceiling Decoration Hooks
- Wall Surface and Paint Hooks
- Floor Surface and Paint Hooks
- Lighting Hooks
- Music Hooks
- Personal Chest
- NEW FEATURE: Ceiling Surface and Paint Hooks
New Feature: Ceiling Surface and Paint Hooks:
The Rivendell Steadings introduces two new types of hooks to the housing system – Ceiling Surface and Ceiling Paint. Much like Walls and Floors, you can now customize the appearance of your ceilings in the Rivendell Steadings. Currently, any existing Floor surface and floor paint will work in their respective ceiling hook types. In the future, new surfaces will be introduced to help make your ceiling stand out!
How to Purchase a Rivendell Home:
To purchase a home directly speak with Hirthamel (found in the Rivendell Steadings town center and in the Bree-town Broker’s Office) or by using the Rivendell Homesteads Broker’s Board in Lalia’s Market. This will open a menu that will show you all available Rivendell Neighborhoods and the houses that can be purchased within them. From this panel, you can purchase them directly using Mithril Coins or Homesteading Coins. You can also click the Tour House button to go directly to the property and walk around it prior to purchasing it if you like.
While you are visiting an unpurchased home – either via exploring the neighbourhood on your own or via the Tour House button, you can choose to purchase the home using the For Sale sign at the yard entrance of the property.

Happy Homesteading!
And here we are, at the end of this overview and excited to launch the much-anticipated Rivendell neighbourhood! It has been a long time coming – and something we know you all have been looking forward to since we first suggested the idea of it those many years ago right after the launch of Lyndelby.
Development had some starts and stops along the way as other initiatives took center stage. Over the years (and over the last couple of months), we’ve been listening and learning, and we hope that the Rivendell Steadings represents some of what we’ve learned from all your feedback – including neighbourhood launches and the 64-bit server consolidations.
Many thanks to you all who eagerly jumped into Bullroarer to test out the neighbourhood and its features!
Mae govannen and welcome home!
