A new Discord is now available for The Lord of the Rings Online. This official Discord is staffed by Standing Stone Games along with a team of player volunteers and offers a great community resource for all LOTRO players!

The Lord of the Rings Online Official Discord features special announcement, sales, and service news channels that you can Follow to bring these messages to your own Discord. Additionally, we have numerous channels where players can chat, hang out, get answers, help others, form groups and kinships, show others their creativity and more!
Here are answers to your Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Discord says I need to be Verified in order to join The Lord of the Rings Online Official Discord. What does that mean?
A: We require a Verified Discord account for this Discord in order to provide the best possible security and experience to participants. This means in general that you need a mobile phone number to verify your Discord account. This has nothing to do with your LOTRO game account.
Q: What do I do if I can’t get Verified?
A: In a few weeks we will announce a process players can utilize in order to have one of us manually verify your account with our Discord. Stay tuned for more information, which will be posted in this space.
Q: Does The Lord of the Rings Online Official Discord feature multiple languages?
A: Yes! We also have channels for our French and German language players in addition to French and German language volunteer moderators.
Q: I am a content creator! Can I post my stuff there?
A: Yup! We are also able to give you a special Creator role which allows you to stream your programming directly into an Events or Voice channel if you would like to. Reach out to a moderator or member of the LOTRO Team in the Discord in order to get the role.
Q: I am in an in-game band or theatre group. Can we broadcast into the Discord?
A: Yes! We have a special Event Creator role which allows you to stream your programming directly into an Events or Voice channel if you would like to. Reach out to a moderator or member of the LOTRO Team in the Discord in order to get the role.
Q: Can I promote my own Discord in your Discord?
A: Yes! As long as it is about The Lord of the Rings Online and generally follows our Code of Conduct. We have a thread in the Discord where anyone can promote their own Discord through a link.
Q: Can I use your Voice Chat for fellowship audio chat?
A: Yes! The in-game audio system remains available, but some players may prefer to utilize Discord for voice chat. Our Discord has the ability to automatically generate and remove audio chat rooms on demand, and players can link to those Discord audio rooms by copying and pasting the URL to invite the people they are grouping with.
Q: How do I create a Voice Chat Channel?
A: You will go to the Voice Channels category and press the +Create Voice Channel option. From there, you can also add a note about your activity to assist others in joining you if wanted.
Q: What does the Voice Channels Lobby do?
A: You are placed into a Lobby if you spend a long time by yourself in a Voice Channel. Additionally, the Lobby can be used for others to enter and then be moved into whatever voice channel you are in. It is not possible to speak in the Lobby.
Q: Is The Lord of the Rings Online Official Discord discoverable through public Discord search?
A: No. In order to mitigate the significant increase in spam and bot activity caused by being publicly Discoverable we are not a discoverable Discord. This means that in order to join us you will need to follow an invitation link: https://discord.gg/CUBRjCmE7u Anyone who is a member of the Discord can generate an invitation link and share it with others as well.
Q: Help! I can’t find (channel name)!
A: You can select which channels you would like to see by going to “Channels and Roles”, located in the upper left part of the Discord, towards the top of the list. Select “Channels & Roles”, then “Browse Channels”, and select which channels you would like to have displayed. There is also an option to “Show All Channels” in the drop down menu list for The Lord of the Rings Online Official Discord.
Q: How do I get my name connected to a certain game world so it displays in the Member List?
A: Go to our channel #get-roles and react to the post to select which server(s) you want to be associated with. Note that for the Discord display your name will display with the first alphabetical server you select.
