    Empty Server?.....

It has been a bit over two years since I have played on the regular I have several characters. Currently my highest is a lvl 58 hunter elf. When I started Erid Luin was swimming with characters. You couldnt walk or enter anywhere without seeing somone else not matter what day of the week it was or what time. Now I find whole sections of the map empty at all times. I am wondering if I shoulod transfer to another sever.... or am I just logging in at the wrong time?

It is likely that when you joined the server was still fairly new and was the 'recommended' option for new accounts. As time has progressed the average level of a character has slowly increased as the server has aged. Also, content is more spread out than it was two years ago. Yes, Ered Luin is no longer crawling with players but with a bigger and bigger map players will be more spread.

Currently the major population centre is Snowbourn/Forlaw, and I am sure when you get to the level cap you will have no problems finding other players. Hope this helped!

There are people everywhere, just in lower numbers for Eriador. Thorin's Hall, Bree, 21st Hall and Rivendell still have a decent amount of players for the lower level places on the map. Most people are focused with getting chars to cap or running cap content at the moment so leveling players are fewer than they were a few months ago.

You will have difficulty finding fellow players who are doing quests in the same area you are, but you may find that the majority of the population socializes and organizes groups in the GLFF channel, or you could join a kinship with players willing to keep you company along the way. The server is by no means empty, especially with the Helms Deep release not too far off. A lot of new and old faces, as well as an influx of alts have shown up recently to prepare for new content and a new level cap.

Shumzuda made a very good point, the world of Middle Earth has grown significantly over the past few years. Players are more spread out. Being on your own isn't all that bad, and if you ever need help there's always someone out there willing to lend a hand.

    /joinchannel GLFF

If you would like to each out to other players that way.

If you ever want to run some Moria instances, join glff chat channel and ask there. I'll join.

Again, to join it you type /joinchannel glff
to leave that channel, type /leavechannel glff
and to type in glff, type /1

Riddermark was new with free-to-play option, together with some other server(s?). A lot of oldies and beginners went there for a fresh economy and new beginnings. Many of the oldies went back to servers they played before and Ridder suffered a few small-town-problems with severely bad attitudes being allowed to go unleashed and eventually becoming the norm toward anyone daring to intrude.

I hear things changed but I only went back there rarely since cap 65.

If you have a few areas bought already, rerolling on a different server is an excellent way to relearn the game (all classes will be more or less beginners whenever helm's deep is released so this is perhaps not too necessary). Building on what you have may be more prudent, fleshing out your old character(s) with virtues and leftover bits. Remaining on a more quiet server may help this and may also get you some much needed attention in the above mentioned global chat channel compared with on a busy server. Asking questions is a sign someone wishes to learn and should be greeted with answers and positive reactions.

Since you played, I guess Enedwaith changed levels to become 61-65 rather than all 65. Great place for just smooth ride through toward caplvl. Newish cap 75 saw all of Dunland and Isengard with RoI and added later was an all 75 place (just like Ened before it) named Great River. If just hurrying through, that is now relvld to 71-75 and can be a good alternative route. All regular quests can be taken when five levels below, you adjust when you start an area as fits your play-style.

If you have leftover marks and medallions from back when, check Classic barter npc at skirm camp for decent gear level 65. Note that you may level quickly if you set your mind to it: only one area lacks quest reward armor and weapons, the very latest Wildermore 85 place, so you can just plod along using that or good crit versions crafted armor. Legendary weapons third age will be Plentiful, to say the least. Second age class slot/sidearm 65 comes free with epic, as does a second age 75 symbol to craft with. Check out Michel Delving statue barter NPC for goodies once you have a few Bounder tokens looted from field kills. Should be smooth levling.

    What else...have fun?

There are fewer players on Riddermark then there were when I started playing a year and half ago. You may want to consider transferring to a more active server if you intend on raiding when you hit the cap. If you just want to level and have fun, there's no need to transfer.

Raiding? Where? Brandy and Snowbourn (out of non-RP) are the only servers that retain players year round but that is because so many lose faith in their world and flock there. The others can't retain due to competition. People leave to go else where so when those players who changed their main game don't continue playing because they think the game is dying. If you found a server you can live with, stay there and help build it. Leaving won't help it.
