    It's official!!!!

    ....... of course the horse died of old age, but at least that barn door is shut!

    I play rarely, and I use to love the game, but I hate what it's become. If you think it's as good as it was before F2P then you are truly delusional.

    It was hardly ever A-grade material at any point, the only thing that changed with F2P was a 3 digit IQ drop into the negatives of the games general populace.

    Depends how the grade is given out. Up to and including SoM, content wise IMO it was grade A material. Customer service? LOTRO has always stunk at that.

    I've only had 2 experiences with actual customer service over the years, and they have been the absolute best of any gaming company or just about any other 'online' business. If you're referring to customer service more generally as interaction with players, GMs, community managers, informational releases, etc. yeah, they're bottom of the barrel.

    Really? That surprises the hell out of me. IIRC, the hours you can call cust service at one time were like 3 hours a day, M-F when most people are at work/school.

    Once, GM's were quite helpful. I recall having Remmigal (sic) bug out on us in old Fornost, and noobs that we were, we left instance and it reset. We had a GM escort us back in. 1 shotting all the mobs along the way. Once we got to Remmy the GM said "tag him" and then 1 shot him so we could get our loot.

    I had a problem with being charged twice in a pay period for a sub, got cleared up over the phone in under 5 mins, I had a problem with a store purchase (zomg p2wezmoder) that required several back and forth emails, completely resolved in under an hour.

    I've certainly heard of GMs being quite helpful back in SoA/MoM, though i never needed one in that time period. Every interaction since then has been various forms of cut-n-paste, there's nothing i will do for you stuff, most laughably A group i was in had feared a mob who wandered into a place it couldn't be reached, or find its way back from, preventing our progression in the instance. The GM wouldn't even reset the entire room, nevermind the single mob (we were halfway through a rather long instance) and we had to start from scratch. I suppose times, and policies, change.

    This game makes people do crazy things. I heard about this one Kin that had some sort of Love Triangle going on. All three peeps quit the Kin after everyone was found out. One of the tri had been in the kin for years and years. Where is the logic in that?

    I disagree about the SoM part, that expansion like RoR and RoI shipped without almost any content besides the 5 level boost and was painfully boring until they released the mirkwood instance cluster.

    but yeah, SoA and MoM were both gems. Personally I enjoyed RoI too, the real reason we are where we are with this game is the amount of time and resources they unfortunately placed on mounted combat.

    As for the customer service, it's been touch and go. I've certainly had good/bad experiences with them, mostly through emails. If I ever bothered to call their representatives the issue was usually hastily resolved.

    That goes on in EVERY game. I have heard people have left wife and child because of someone they met in game.

    SoM came complete with the instance cluster, three 3 mans, a 6 man, and 12 man BG, and for better or worse, skirmishes. I was in the beta and remember doing Warg Pens and Sword Halls, and then dying to the armored dudes that blocked the gauntlet because I wanted a peek at BG. All for 20 bucks, such a deal!!! It was actually more complete than MoM since Moria didn't have the Turtle or Loth Lorien at launch.

    hmm, it's possible I remember it wrongly then. either way all I remember about that xpac was the CJ fiasco that spiked my blood pressure.
