Firstly I don't response to anything.

You seem very dim, so I'll try explain this rather simply. I have always enjoyed and participated in 1vs1s, 1vs1 circles, and tournaments. However, farming your friends over and over for hours, day after day, sending tells to meet in discrete locations for 1vs1s for endless hours, under the guise of "I'm soloing" or "I'm 1vs1ing" is what I condemn. Do you understand the difference?

The second portion is what you did the vast majority of your rank.

I love how angry I've made you that you rolled a reaver, ran all the way to Good TA, watched my fights, rolled a newly named reaver, tried to gank my fights, take screenshots and throw your keyboard upon dying over and over.

    Winning!

    Agreed.

It does a great job of showing the vast potential of a freep raid. Potential. That means what is capable of happening, not what actually happens. We all know the inexperience of most Ark freeps keeps this from becoming a reality on this server. So lets not pretend like it is happening.

Do you know how many collegiate athletes get drafted (and often in the first round) based solely on their potential? It is a dangerous word to toss around... many (read: most) are out of their respective leagues in a matter of a couple years. What's his point, you must be wondering? Most Freeps on Arkenstone don't reach their toons full potential with regards to pvp. I gave my reason for why I think that is so in this thread.
Well, to be fair one of the things your post doesn't cover is the amount of work it takes to be competitive as a freep vs. a creep. Freep requires leveling 95 levels, a PvE jewelry grind, the LI grind (which is huge), a virtue grind, AND THEN an aud gear grind. Creep requires a quest grind (for maps and comms), and a rank grind to get enough comms for corruptions and skills, and then a high enough rank to actually be effective at the class. I'd say to play a freep competitively in the moors you're looking at least a hundred hours more of time over a creep of the same rank. IDK, maybe 200.

When examined in terms of time, I can understand why many freeps die a few times and think, "Yeah, this is too difficult for too little reward." They've already spent over a hundred hours leveling the toon and maybe twenty more running instances for jewelry, not to mention the grinding needed for virtues.

Sadly, if they stuck with it and maxed out their toons they'd begin to see the benefits pretty quickly.

You should see the pile I have below my 2nd floor window. I recently removed the small ac unit fashioned in what used to be an area for a screen. I'm too lazy to put the screen back in so it has since been used as a direct point of keyboard tossing upon anger which is ensued only be partaking in person vs. monster person. The good news is I've found a work around for all the tim tam crumbs, dried ketchup, and accidental coffee drips. The bad news is the neighbor kids are using the keyboard mountain to peek in my windows.

Rolled a reaver on brandy because I was curious how people 1v1ed there, and to my pleasant surprise, you were one of the most enthusiastic 1v1ers there, fighting your friends more than once over a period of hours.

Btw, Multiple successful ganks on a rank 0 reaver, and I really enjoyed how obsessive you were trying to hunt me down, good laughs.

I'm inclined to agree with Vod's assessment on this one. Yes, it does take a TON of hours to level and gear a freep. However, once that is done, what holds some freeps back is the lack of a freep PvMP-centric kin or the lack of a freep community where information and advice on how to reach their potential in the Moors is discussed. Needles to say, PvMPing is very, very different than PvEing. New freeps come to the Moors having spent all of their time PvEing. When they get to the Moors, it's a whole different ball game. So, how do they learn how to play their toons to their full potential? For most, it's by trial and error and the minimal instructions they get from raid leaders on things like following target assists and staying tightly grouped. In contrast, most creeps end up in a tribe where corruption builds, coordination, effective skill usage and strategies are discussed on a daily basis. Additionally, because they're in a tribe, they get a lot of experience playing with the same players. It's a bit like comparing the effectiveness of a PUG group attempting a tier-two challenge raid in PvE with the effectiveness of a PvE raiding kin's where such things as builds, coordination, effective skill usage and raid strategies are discussed and practiced by the SAME group of players regularly.

It's worth noting that because Arkenstone is a relatively small server, many of the freeps tend to gravitate towards each other so you see the same group of players regularly. You make it seem like there is a different group of players every night, when in reality, this is not the case. We see the same names regularly, with a couple new people every now and then, but it is hardly a PUG group, in that it's mostly different players every time. Freeps do not need to be in the same kin in order to discuss different builds, and skills, etc. Using OOC would be effective, at least in a small server if people actually took the time to ask and reply.

On freepside, there's nowhere near the amount of discussion that you'd find within a tribe on things like builds, group tactics, which skills work best against various types of opponents and how best to use them. Those sorts of discussions typically take place within tribes and kinships. As for running freepside not being like running a PUG group most of the time............. If you're in a tribe, I'd be willing to bet that when you're grouped, you're running with the same players far more often than I am.

I've had discussions with total strangers about builds and tactics that have been just as fruitful as those I've had with tribe/kin mates. That sort of discussion might not happen often freepside on Arkenstone, but there's absolutely no reason that it shouldn't.

Yeah, I'd agree. I think one of the first questions you should ask after, "Why did we wipe," is, "How is everyone traited?" Which lends itself to discussions of builds, tactics, rotations, and more.

You also have to admit that there are some ppl that just don't care what the right way to play there class is. I've seen LMs stackin might and stuff - he also had a prety decent BPE I think.... and well they won't listen - cause - as I just said - they don't care. SO it doesn't make sense to talk bout builds with everybody in the moors.

This does happen. The better raid leaders on freepside are very helpful, and probably way too patient at times.

This is the average result for when someone takes the time to help some of these newer freeps. The LM mentioned above refused any advice, convinced that building for might was right, and everyone else is wrong.

Those of you saying 'this is how it should be', please, by all means, come over to freepside and teach them yourself if you can do better...

I probably will after I do a bit more work on my champ. He has about a week and a half left of stuff to do before he's ready for the moors, but after that I'll take a look at ferping.
