Barley and wheat, to make bread, because fresh-baked bread is the best.

Pipeweed I would think. That way I could get Gandalf to swing by.

I second the vote for taters! French fries, hashbrowns, twice-baked, scalloped, mashed, in soup and stew...they are the best everywhere! (and why I could never stick to keto, lol)

If you were a farmer in Middle-earth, what would you grow?

Potatoes! Delicious and easy to grow.

I'd grow Mary Quite Contrary -- for a farm girl she's kinda hot!

I know there are going to be lots of folks saying this, but ... taters!

You really can't go wrong growing taters. They are a very versatile food -- so much more than just "boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew." You could literally eat taters at every meal for a month and not have the same dish twice.

Also, I'd need to grow some lovely herbs with which to season my taters.

Grapes, barley, and hops. Because only through wine and ale are we going to keep the elves from shipping out and the dwarves from sealing themselves off from the rest of us.

I would grow specialty pipeweed, only the finest cross-bred and hand-selected genetics.
