Ahh very clever, but sadly that's not what I was thinking of, but you are on the right track!
I'm referencing a place specifically in LOTRO.
Clever?...not by half...grin.
You have conjured up an intriguing riddle.
Okay then, I have another guess.
There is a quest out of Esteldín: Ruins of Arthedain offered by Istuienn with this:
"Amongst the Rangers of the North Downs, we encourage our people to visit all five of the Towns and discover the locations of their Founding Stones. It is important to remember who we are...."
Perhaps you are referring to The Founding Stones?
The most northerly of these is in Carnoglin which is now called Ost Galumar
"Nine-mile skid on a ten-mile ride. Hot as a pistol, but cool inside"...Mr. Hunter
"Phase One, in which Doris gets her oats!"...Mr. McCartney
Well, we have waited quite a long while.
I have sent 2 PMs and no response yet so I am going to put this particular Riddle on hold and start a new one.
When itshuntah31 gets back we can pick up the Riddle they started.
Here is a new Three-Word Lotro Trivia Riddle. (Remember this LOTRO not LOTR or Tolkien).
Ten Second Invisibility

I wanted to go for careful step, the warden stealth skill, but this is 20s ...
Is it "hide in plain sight," burglar skill?
I’m an alien, an illegal alien: I’m a Gondorian Captain in Rohan...
Oh, significantly better, I would say: nobody tries to steal it; your friends don’t try and kill you for it; no need to leave your home and trek thousands of miles to get rid of it; no wars start over it; no slow, agonising descent into madness... you get the idea
OK, next LOTRO riddle:
Broken sword buttache
(Wrote the riddle then had to edit because I remembered it needed be three words ... oops)
Edit: I should probably amend the riddle to: "Broken swordS buttache" - that would be more accurate.

Perhaps you are hinting at Gwindeth and the travails she puts us through to regain the hidden stone The Silithar, in order to reforge the shards of Narsil into Anduril, Flame of the West?

It's good, but it's not the one (although that is a buttache - all that swimming!). Nothing to do with the blade of Elendil...

Great...that one had me searching and searching....I have only completed that series of quests on one character and it was long ago.
Challenging riddle. Thanks.
The next Three-Word Lotro Riddle:
death by proximity
"Nine-mile skid on a ten-mile ride. Hot as a pistol, but cool inside"...Mr. Hunter
"Phase One, in which Doris gets her oats!"...Mr. McCartney
'My father's final words revealed to me how Mordirith may be defeated. Though he has returned from Minas Morgul with great power, he still bears the scar of Golodir's blade, Dúnachar, that pierced him and sent him back to his foul master.
'If we were to bare this weapon before him, even in his broken state, the memory of his wound will be enough to make Mordirith falter.
'Speak to Golodir and find out what has become of the broken blade of Dúnachar.'
Edit: This is followed shortly after by the Chapter 12 Instance: One Hope Remains

Reason: Added the bit about the Instance
