    Why epic battle rewards aren't scaling to character level?

    Before MM update, epic battle rewards were scaling to character level but now it doesn't. What happened, did I miss something?

    There are times when you are awarded jewelry in general. Those items are level 100. Any essences in the boxes are level 100. The jewelry from the boxes are scaled to level.

    This has kinda become a pattern by now when new level cap is introduced. Somehow most of the classic content, that can be used to get some starter gear outside of the new zone, mysteriously gets bugged when a new zone is released. Epic Battles, which drop jewelry that's at least somewhat useful, is more often than not part of that bugged content.

    Yes, if you open the reward boxes outside of the instance and they happen to contain a gear piece, it will scale to your level. However, while this "bug" is in effect, if you open the boxes inside, gear will cap to level 100, and more importantly , the bigger portion of gear drops, which comes from the gold and plat completion rewards will always be level 100 capped, as they get delivered directly to your bags/pending loot.

    And no, it doesn't and shouldn't happen in general. It does mysteriously happen when new content with level cap gets released, and most of the other useful gearing choices/paths break ( *tin foil hats on* ). Gear pieces from EBs should always scale to your level, whether they come from reward boxes or as a direct rewards. Essences don't count, as they aren't scalable; and since this is technically level 95-100 content, they always contain t7 essences.

    If you do epic battles at lvl50 to 100, you get essences according to your level, rounded down to the next-lower-previous-levelcap or whatever. at least, thats what I remember.
    So sure, essences are not exactly scaleable the way they are made, but they are certainly scaleable, if SSG wanted to put a half an hour of work into code.
    Scaling essences surely would not be magic, adding a rule to loot depending on levels clearly isnt magic either.
    They could either "simply" make them scaleable, as they have an itemlevel and stats directly depend on itemlevel and itemlevel more or less correlates with playerlevel (see scaled instances equipment).
    Or they could simply add the existing level-appropriate essences to the loottables, lust like at lvl50-100.
    They simply dont want to reward players for old content.

    This is old content and not relevant anymore. Now you need to get the best gear in last area.

    answering a question about the status quo with the status quo isnt really helping

    One could ask OPs question in another way: "why does old content have to be irrelevant?" It could as well be less rewarding, but still useful, instead of not giving any useful rewards at all.
