What is a good home decorating tip for other players?

Collect ANY decoration item you find out in your way, you never know when you will need it...

Best thing about a home, is having your own crafting/vault/storage hall. Just wish they would give standard homes a little more room for crafting stations and make supplier horn a npc, hate when the supplier disappears mid-crafting. Also nice to be able to access chest from outside the house, as well as inside, since all the crafting is usually done outside.

    My 2 cents:

Play around with all decorations, old and new, sometimes a different color on an old wall pattern or a different degree of rotation, height, in-wall depth for any decoration can give you an unexpected result!

(i.e.: I discovered that I really like the look of old trophies - bears, wolves, sabers, etc - when I sink down the trophy platform)

Store seasonally. Sort all of your decorations into Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter sets, including wall colours and music. This lets you easily swap them out when the next festival opens up and you can better focus on getting the new shinies and on what you missed from previous festivals.

    Housing Tip

Spend Bingo Badges on the "Bilbo's Recommended Reading" item, then maneuver it behind a wall or beneath a floor for some lovely ambient light.

(also we need more similarly "lit" items)

Start with the walls and floors... Nothing worse than meticulously placing all of your items, only to pop in the floor/wall patterns that you want to use and realize that it made everything look terrible.

After my... ahem... encounter with Red Maid, I ended up with 'Naruhel's dress' (oh, the implications)
I though I could get it stuffed and mounted.
What a disappointment it tirned out to be...

Don't get fooled by the dress. Take home the real thing.

Don't use silver glitter additive in white paint - it looks like mould. Use white glitter instead.m

Edit: Second thoughts, don’t bother. The white glitter doesn’t even show up. Preferably, don’t use glitter and just paint with a plain colour. Soooo much time wasted

    Less is more

Don't feel obliged to put something into every slot available.
Too easy to end up with a 'clown pants' effect that way.
Sparsely decorated is a valid choice.
