    Transfer Bug

    Hello, I transferred my storage to another server yesterday shortly after preordering the 130$ minas morgul code, it gave me an error so I tried again, and now its not letting my login to any of my characters on Arkenstone,can I please have an estimated time until the transfer feature is working again?? the error says "Your character is being saved, Please try again later" and I cannot log any character on my account! this has been happening for a day now

    This happened to me yesterday also. They are aware of it and closed the transfers late yesterday (US time). It will take time to figure out what happened. Only then can they begin to address it. One suggestion that I have that may work is a database roll back to a point before the transfer was made for those affected (and refund any LP spent). Logs should still have it and backups should also still have it. Sadly, this may need to be a manual process. CS is having to deal with this plus Minas Morgul stuff in addition to the regular troubles that arise.

    so when can I play lotro again?? I just spent 130$ and now I cant even play my lotro characters

    Sadly, I don't know, if you only have one account and did the transfer on it and want to play that one. I am having that issue on my account that is affected. You can, I think in the interim, make new characters on that account and play them or make another account, then make and play characters on that one. I do have other accounts, mostly storage mules, so I've been playing on them at the moment.

    We have a subset of players who are in this state, unfortunately, so we're in the process of scheduling a quick server restart tomorrow morning, which should resolve this issue for everyone.

    I understand the frustration, but why force the rest of the players to undergo an unscheduled restart at likely a bad time, when the server state doesn't have such an emergency? Far better, to me, to wait until tomorrow morning (US), when overall server load is lower and impact fewer players, overall.

    I have admit that your plea sounds soooo none assuming but soooo pure in its intent, that if I had any control over things I would just try to manage that. However, they (SSG) are bringing down the servers (for everyone) to correct this for you and a few others. I think this is very commendable and impressive of SSG. You and the other 3 or 4 people obviously rate! And actually, I am good with that!

    As for it not ultimately working...I think it will!

    But, if for some off chance it doesn't....something remote like getting hit by some random cheese burger falling from the sky...then dang, that kinda will suck!
    But, what are the chances of that...

    Can we get any Upgrade on this?
    I can't even play the Game neither do Thrang cause all my Gear is in Shared Storage on a different Server!!!!

    I note that Codovan interjected in at least three other threads on other issues that yes there is a problem and it is scheduled to be fixed by a patch soon.

    Nothing being said about the transfer issue implies either that he didn't notice it, didn't consider it as important, or that they do not have a fix ready to roll out this week. The latter, most likely.

    I have characters on one server cut off from resources on other servers because of this freeze on transfers. They are making do reasonably well with no money or currency or gear other than what they can generate for themselves. But I hope transfers come back soon also.

    No, no exact timeframe, except "Soon™".

    To be precise - they will have an update soon. Which is good.

    Codovan did not promise that the *fix* would be soon.

    As Gandalf said when asked if the hammer would descend upon all of middle earth. It may or it may not.

    I acctually thought after I had left site last night and shut off PC, that maybe I should have been more precise, but I was too tired to boot up PC again and be more specific. I thought quoting Cordovan would make people get it anyway.

    So in fact only and "update" (not an acctual game update), or rather "more info" will come "Soon™" is all that is said. Nothing what that info will say or when the acctual fix (however that will work or potentially change the service) will be deployed. If wanting to be really specific, it doesn't even say the the "more to say soon" will even be about this specific issue. It could be any announcement really, as long as it has some info regarding LoTRO I guess. Although bumping the message kind of implies that the "more to say soon" is related to this specific issue.

    My goal from when I posted my thread on this topic was to get more information. Maybe SSG is doing all it can do as quickly as reasonably feasible (they have other high priority things on their plate at the moment also) and maybe it isn't. I am not in a position to know.

    If the issue is solely with character transfers, maybe they can restore item and currency transfers before they have a full fix. Or maybe they cannot. My secondary goal was to remind them of this possibility since it would solve the problems that most people are having with transfers being down. Note I do not say that it would solve the most serious problems - losing a character is just a bit more severe than losing access to items and currency stuck on the wrong server.

    Thus, Cordovan promising information soon is far better than continued silence.
