The Spanish comunity really need this great game in Spanish.

There's a lot of spanish players playing this game actually, and there's a thousand more waiting to play if the game were translated into spanish, there's a web group of people called Clan Dlan who translates games for free, they can make it if you gave permissions. thanks again.

Wouldn't SSG have to make a new server for that?

There might be legal issues for translating for free. AOL ran into legal problems in the early 2000's with volunteer workers deciding that they were actually employees working for free.

They would not need a new server. Right now you can use any of the three supported languages on any server. All the translation is in the client side localization files. Of course the people on a given server tend to /say, /tell, etc. in the server's stated language.

You're quite correct about the legal issue. It's a big liability problem if a commercial company has people doing work without pay. They can sue for the back pay at any time. Also additional issues if the free work is done by non-US residents, but those are minor compared to working for free.

I did not know that you can use and language on any server. How does that work, do you just choose which language appears in the quest and npc text? For example, Elrond could be speaking German to you and English to someone beside you?

I believe that is exactly how it works.

You can even see if a player is using a different locale if they drag an item into chat. The name/link will display in their locale language but the tooltip is in your language because it is fetched from a dat file on your computer.

I've noticed that in chat at times. And yes, going back to the OP, I can see a nice pickup in playerbase if Spanish was added.
