I’m sorry, please phrase your answer in the form of a question

Somehow, I thought, a question mark does mark a question

Do these gifts originate from Sauron?

    Greetings, Polymachos

LOL - right guy, wrong question.

The right answer is “Who is Sauron?” or more specifically, “Who is Annatar, Lord of Gifts?”

Incidentally, there is a little gift/curiosity shop near where I live called Annatar. Genius

    You’re up, Polymachos!

It is new to me, that a 'Jeopardy' question should always be of the 'who/what is' kind, but I've only seen the German licensed version.

    Alright.

Answer: A being that knows no family ties. (there are two possible questions, so I will accept both)

I’m new to this too, but I think the question has to fit the answer - I think yours were yes/no questions. No matter, you got the right guy

    As for your riddle:

    Who is Gollum/Sméagol?
“...and he lived happily ever after, to the end of his days”

Sorry, they are not. They are even more radical.

Interesting replies, but both are heading into the wrong direction.

I called the result in the question a 'being' for a reason. There is nothing human(oid) about them. Hint: They are from different ages, and yet relatives.

    Who is Olorin/Gandalf?
"When he arrived to Middle-earth, he received Narya, the ring of fire, from Círdan the Shipwright. Olórin, renamed Gandalf, spent many centuries walking among the elves as a stranger, learning from them and teaching them. He later revealed himself as one of the Istari, and eventually became known as the wisest of and most powerful of that order."

    Who is Shelob?

Altair found it. I would have accepted Ungolianth, too. The two were mother and daughter, and both would eat their offspring, whenever they got hungry. And they were always hungry.

    Your turn.

What came from the mallorn trees?

"Its bark was silver and smooth, and its boughs somewhat upswept after the manner of the beech; but it never grew save with a single trunk. Its leaves, like those of the beech but greater, were pale green above and beneath were silver, glistering in the sun; in the autumn they did not fall, but turned to pale gold. In the spring it bore golden blossom in clusters like a cherry, which bloomed on during the summer; and as soon as the flowers opened the leaves fell, so that through spring and summer a grove of malinorni was carpeted and roofed with gold, but its pillars were of grey silver. Its fruit was a nut with a silver shale."

    Not the Mallorn trees.

As for "trees of life", I'm not sure they're actually called that and, whilst the idea behind it may be in the right area, I'm looking for something a bit more specific.

I was thinking something different, but after researching, I believe you found older names than I was thinking.

    Gratz!

    Your turn!

...BTW, what I was thinking was "Smeagol" and "Deagol", but Marcho and Blanco are older names.
I thought (mistakenly) that Gollum had found the ring before the founding of the Shire.

Marcho and Blanco led a group of hobbits out of Bree and founded The Shire in TA 1601.
Gollum acquired the ring in TA 2463.
So I was only off by a few hundred years...grin.

I'm surprised I got it, to be honest. I thought there must be older still, but the bros were as far back as I can remember.

    Here's my answer-in-need-of-a-question:

    Rohirric barrow blossoms, translated
