State of Beorning DPS after rework?

    Heya,

What's the state of Beorning redline after the rework?

What % are Beornings capable of compared to top parsing DPS classes assuming equal gear/skill?

    Cheers!

Before the balancing, I was parsing out about 17k to 19k. Currently, I'm up to about 33k to 35k. I've been adding gear and then testing out dps on Scourges in the resource instances since those are prolonged fights and the bosses are easily accessible. They're defenses are not up to the level you find in the raids etc....but that's a pretty respectable improvement. I'll post a video and some details when I have a chance. Taking down over 2 Million morale in less than a minute is kind of cool.

What build are you using? I'm not happy with my current one, and want to do something different.
    .

I bring word from Lord Elrond of Rivendell. An Alliance once existed between Elves and Men. Long ago we fought and died together. We come to honor that allegiance.

Red tree for the majority. But, I grabbed the vicious claws buff from yellow. In blue, I maxed out Armor Crush. It's a decent buff on your damage, and hits at about 30k. Also, grab Recuperate while you're over there, because you'll be in bear form more (and eventually they will put a longer cooldown on Composure). It's not so much the build that gives you the most damage, it's getting comfortable with switching to man form for buffs and then right back to bear form. Also, grab the bee debuffs. Mob attack duration and induction down 20 to 30% makes a difference. There are a handful of damage skills over in blue tree not traditional with a tanking tree. Slam damage, biting edge damage.

A good tip: If you have extra buttons on your mouse/ trackball, use the center button for the slash/thrash skin change. Make the other two buttons Composure and man form. If you don't have to hunt down those three on your console it makes it so much quicker and smooth.

Finally, and most important....Critical rating in your stats. I have more critical rating tallied than phys mastery. I think I"m at about 28% without the wrath bonus. That takes nearly 180k critical rating. Your mastery is tied into the skin form you're using. So if you are in bear form 60% is added to your total. Conceivably you can get 260% melee bonus while most other classes can only get 200%. Man form you get 30% added to your total. But, it's the ole feast or famine critical and devastating hits that will make all the difference on your dps. I've been checking out my breakdown with Combat Analysis. And, I average just under 40% critical hits per prolonged fight. That's decent, in my opinion. neary 4/ 10 hits critting.

Vicious claws is critting up around 70k. THrash 3 is around there as well. Relentless maul is critting in the 50k area. Execute (which admittedly, I don't use very much) seems to have improved since the last maintenance we just had. I don't know if that is coincidence or they changed something. (odd fact: on those classes I have high finesse, damage increased after the maintenance). I kind of wonder if that stat was not being applied properly. I have a yellow runie shelling out 225k damage hits now. Highest prior to the maintenance was 170k.

I don't think skill rotation is slow at all. But, comparing to a runekeeper is not really feasible. Comparing to a two handed red tree champ is a better competition, and I think bears, currently win hands down due to the bleeds alone. As far as a runekeeper critting 850k damage? I assume you are referring to a single skill (likely wrath of fire). That's great if it's true. Except, a bear can crit over 800k damage on a single skill as well, and it's AOE. Four of five mobs, a little luck and relentless maul will crit four hits over 50k on each mob. Do the math.

My point is that if a melee dps is called for, a beorning can more than do the job.

Wait, am I missing something here? In order for the vicious claws buff in the yellow line to actually be in effect, don't you have to have Mark of Grimbeorn up, which is only available if you start out in the Roar (yellow) tree? Are you saying you chose the yellow line just for that benefit and actually pay double points into the red line for most of your traits?

Or, you take the trait just for +9% dmg for vicious claws.

the trait itself gives a flat +9% damage to vicious claws, which is a nice addition to one of your hardest hittign dps skills, but the +15% damage requires mark of the grimbeorn, which can be applied in red line anyway because of a bug they have yet to fix since the class was released...

Could you elaborate on this? I was unaware of this bug.

Why would you spread a Bug like this on the forums?
If you want to contact me, pls don't write me a Private Message on the Forum, the chance that I read them is low.
The best way is via Discord:

Yeah why would anyone use a forum to spread information? That's not at all what they exist for.
