How to Rename a pet or cosmetic pet

I don't remember how to "Rename" a pet or cosmetic pet. Please help...this was much easier when you could just click on the name and select rename.

    Try:

"/cpet rename NEWNAME" for cosmetic pets

Regular pets like Cappy Shieldmaidens or LM Bears just right click the pet's picture and select 'rename'.

Remember that you have to summon the cosmetic pet you want to rename first.

    You can't target a cpet.

    In summary:
    * cosmetic pet: summon, then type /cpet rename <name>
    * cappy/LM pets and LM cosmetic pet: summon, then
    ** either type /pet rename <name>
** or right click the pet's character portrait, and choose rename

Note it is possible to rename all the Sic 'Em pets too, although it takes a while and a fair bit of patience. You have to target them then right click the portrait.

Faroth, named above, is the only one I know about.

I'm a cat person ... I went through the appropriate quest(s) with Faroth and sent him back to his kennel.

...except that you can rename Faroth, exactly the same as any other. This has come up twice in this thread. Puzzling. Maybe he didn't used to be, for some reason, and they fixed it?
