My original, and still main, character is a Hunter, so I chose Woodsman so I could build my own bows and make leather for medium armor.

I chose tinker because it fitted my peripatetic minstrel's life. I enjoyed making guilded jewellery for others...and cooking was useful. I do recommend new explorer to new players, though.

And the minstrel sang to them……”and they passed in thought out to regions where pain and delight flow together and tears are the very wine of blessedness.”

My first ever was Yeoman for the Cooking.

But my main, being a Hunter, took Explorer for the dual gathering abilities. (Explorers *should* be able to search for Wood and Ore simultaneously.)

    Brandy: Cupcakes of Doom.
    Landro: Trueheart Companions.

    Tinker, because dwarf

Also have all other crafting professions on alts, but more for convenience, than anything else.

My first character in Lotro was a Hobbit burglar, and naturally I chose Yeoman because, well, we all know how Hobbits love to eat. Plus as a farmer I could make excellent pipeweeds for relaxing and smoking after those big meals.

    Cool

My main is an elf hunter, so I chose historian so as the elf in me, I could study things and grow pipeweed. The hunter bad ### in me needed to make weapons as well. I wish I could make the bows though so I have alts that do it as wells as cook for me.

I choose vocations based on the role of the character. My first one, a Lore-master, took the Historian vocation. Others took vocations that matched their roles. Once I had the main vocations covered, subsequent characters either became back ups or were made Explorers to feed the others.

On planet Earth, there is a try.
Indeed, in a world and life full of change, the only constant is human nature (A is A, after all :P).

What vocation did you choose and why?
    First I became an Armourer
so that I could craft my shields.
Then I made a Yeoman burglar
    and danced midst blackberry fields.

My next was a Woodsman hunter,
    who wielded his home-made bows.
But he was no Armsman fighter,
    who'd slash through enemy rows.

    One fair Historian minstrel
    I needed for battle boost.
And gold for my elven Tinker
    who was lately introduced.

Now it's time for an Explorer
    to hear the Middle-earth call.
    Like in a franchise another:
    Gotta. Catch. Them. All.

I have multiple Tinkers. Sometimes recipes have cooldowns and I like to be able to craft a full set of jewelry when I 'need' it.

What vocation did you choose and why?

Woodworker, because I like to craft my own bow.

  16. #66
I chose Armsman because all adventurers need a sword!

    Cool

I have alts with all the professions, but most of my toons are explorers to provide mats for the craftsmen. Also, I love the "Easily Lost" title :-)

I'm not a big fan of crafting. In RP sense hard to explain is join in 1 person fighter and crafter "of heavy items" so my first choice is historian > scholar.

I initially made Woodworker so I can craft bows for my hunter, but I have all vocations now.

Aside from a couple extra mouse clicks and scrolling through additional text to now find the store coupons,
this amounts to very little incentive to actually looking at the Beacon.
