    Bullroarer Update 20 - Preview and Release Notes

    Welcome to the Update 20 Release Notes for Bullroarer
    , released on Friday, March 3rd. These notes will change over time.
    We have updated Bullroarer with a preview of Update 20.

    • Please note that the Beta EULA and ToS have not yet been updated, and will still incorrectly display the Turbine EULA and ToS.
    • The Bullroarer database has been wiped for U20 open beta. Please feel free to copy your live character to Bullroarer using the LIVE transfer wizard.
    • New Epic Volume 4 Book 8 will not be available during the U20 open beta.
    • We would love your feedback on Update 20 and would particularly appreciate any comments you may have about the 6 person resource dungeons and their difficulty.


    Update 20 additions:

    • The world has a new area, "The Wastes" with 3 new regions: Noman-lands, Dagorlad, and the Slag-hills. You can access this area and start the new quest content in the Camp of the Host.
    • Two new resource dungeons: After completing the required quests, you can enter solo versions of Skoironk and Carchost using the doors found in the Slag Hills. For the fellowship versions of the dungeons you will need to speak to nearby npcs after completing the fellowship quests.
    • Four more custom tabs have been added to the chat panel. Chat tabs are now allowed to display across two rows at the top of the Chat window.
    • New crafting recipes for endgame tokens: Two Host of the West recipes have been added to the Anorien crafting tier for each profession (Cook, Jeweller, Metalsmith, Scholar, Tailor, Weaponsmith, and Woodworker). You can also acquire 2 additional recipes per profession via rep barter, and there is a 1-shot recipe that drops for each profession.
    • Imbued Legacy Tiers have been extended by 10 levels. Legacies will have 5 new tiers unlocked by default and another 5 that can be unlocked with scrolls of empowerment. The main legacy will have 5 new tiers unlocked by default and 5 tiers that can be unlocked with star-lit crystals.
    • The pet collection has been re-vamped so that it now displays every pet available in the game. We are aware of an issue with kite pets not appearing in the camera, and some TBD pets which are planned for Update 20 but not yet complete. You should be able to preview pets, summon pets you own, and drag a pet skill to a quickslot from the collection UI. The old pet collections and associated titles can now be found under social deeds. To complete these deeds, summon each pet in the collection. Two new pet collection deeds were added: Best Bugs - beetles collection & Fetching Foxes - foxes collection.
    • With Update 20, the following instances are now in the Featured Instance rotation: Lost Temple, Glinghant, Fornost: Wraith of Earth, Seat of the Great Goblin, Sword-hall of Dol Goldur, and Flight to the Lonely Mountain. Featured Instances now have a chance to drop Wastes crit crafting items and rep token bundles for the Host of the West Quartermasters.
    • You can now acquire an "Ornate Inlay" in the T2 challenge Throne of the Dread Terror. This allows players to barter up their existing Throne of the Dread Terror equipment.
    • Two new flora repeatable quests for the Wastes have been added. These quests will count towards Assisting the Herbalists: North Ithilien. Both are bestowed by Arador out of the Host of the West camp after completing Noman-lands quest content. Phials of Golden and Violet extracts can be collected from flora in the Wastes, and traded for rewards at the Herbalist.


    Quests and Questing areas:

    • Players with the vector quest "Incubated by the Flaming Deeps" underway (incomplete) will have to reobtain the quest from the NPC.
    • You can now perform emotes on the stages in Belfalas premium housing areas.
    • The Bree Scholar's Hall no longer has a visible exterior.
    • North Ithilien - Cair Andros: The Captives - fixed Maushlak occasionally not entering combat.
    • Instance: The Reclamation of Talath Anor - Typo/wrong VO in instance entry dialogue and background dialogue has been fixed.


    Items:

    • Skirmish - The price of the Small Reputation Acceleration Tome is being increased to better reflect Mark and Medallion acquisition rates.
    • Return to Arnach travel skill scroll now properly requires Friend standing with Rangers of Ithilien, not Kindred.
    • Older and scaling instances received a large scale pass to provide/improve Beorning specific container drops where they were missing or not class appropriate.
    • Nanu has finally come out of hibernation and started moving again! The turtle's hiding place has been updated.
    • Dyes - "Dark Purple" and "Deep Purple" were used in different places to refer to the same colour. All references to this colour have been unified to "Dark Purple."
    • Sigileth's daggers are now appropriately flagged as daggers, not swords, in the wardrobe.
    • Auction House - Cosmetic Pets - The Aurochs Calf, Stowaway Rat, and Sand Flies cosmetic pet items now properly post to the "Cosmetic Pets" Auction House category.


    Classes:

    • Burglar - Using Track Treasure will deactivate an active resource tracking skill and vice versa. Only one type of item may be tracked on the mini-map at a time.
    • Captian's Reform the Lines skill has received a visual update.
    • Captain - Elendil's Fortune buff is no longer removed when the Captain is healed.
    • Captain - Five stacks of Elendil's Fury will now cause your next Blade of Elendil to consistently grant a defeat event.
    • Captain - Last Stand Heal legacy will now properly increase the Last Stand heal.
    • Captain - Increased initial value of Defensive Strike Armour Buff legacy.
    • Champion - Riposte now unlocks on partial parries.
    • Champion - The Physical Mastery Buff from Battle Frenzy now refreshes reliably.
    • Guardian - Follow Through now adds as many max targets as indicated by trait text.
    • Hunter - Archers Mark now properly reduces a target's critical defense.
    • Hunter - The Blood Arrow heal over time duration has been decreased from 20s to 10s without changing the overall magnitude of heal, so each tick is larger.
    • Lore-master - Enfeeble-modified debuffs should properly account for other sources of debuff strength.
    • Lore-master - The Fellowship Friend buffs from the Bear and Raven now properly reduce incoming damage.
    • Lore-master - The Firm Grasp trait now works with the daze effect that Lightning-storm can gain from certain items.
    • Lore-master - Lore-master Resist Legacies (non-imbued) have been re-balanced to be more effective at higher tiers.
    • Minstrel - Follow Up now works out of combat.
    • Rune-keeper - Essence of Storm no longer removes the "Charged" buff which makes Sustaining Bolt free.


    Misc:

    • In the Fellowship Mini Panel, fellows buffs and debuffs will no longer disappear after they are defeated.
    • Fixed a display problem that would cause effects icons to jump around and flicker. This should also be a small performance improvement for the client.
    • The following emotes now have animations: assist, attack, blush, brb, curtsey, drool, fight, grumble, hug, innocent, mumble, pat, ready, resist, rest, stare, stretch, succumb, sweat, tear, wait, & wink. "Nothing" should be the only text-only emote remaining for all races now. The /pat emote chat text has been changed to reflect the new animation. The hug emote will now show hugging self animation.
    • You will no longer see any mobs above level 105 (until Update 21).
    • Updated french and german mordor map.
    • The accelerator button should no longer appear on the Deed panel for reputation deeds.
    • NPCs standing with crossed arms will no longer show held items.
    • Beleriand weapon fx is now more noticeable.
    • Mount skill icons should now all appropriately ghost when you cannot use the skill.
    • The Mordor map should now more correctly display fellow member locations.
    • Added a Stable-masters Collection button on the radar.

    Also, I thought you guys were done with iLI legacy tier increases. This is not nice. >.<

    Why would you think they are done with li lvls? the whole point of the system was that they could grow with us without the need to replace

    Shield smash is now 2-4 targets , down from 4-7 and its' aoe is still broken and doesn't spread properly.

    I don't mind the increase itself but...
    Problem is , some legacies are getting out of control , like champ's rend armour debuff + crit magnitudes , guard avoidances , minny light dmg etc...

    PS.As for rep accelarators , it's fine with me , they were silly cheap before.

    i suggest the clothes from the character creation pannel could be redone with new cosmetics... those samples are ugly... we have very nice armours and clothes around there. Also can be a hook for new players

    since you are giving captains some attention, would be nice if those standard skills animations are replaced for /bannergondor with a different texture of course

    I really hope you folks at SSG reconsider this. The way I see it there is nothing in this update that warrants the growth of our LI's, especially when you take into account that most classes (even when the player doesn't have the best gear available) can basically 1-2 shot pretty much anything on landscape. Adding more levels to our LI's will just make it worse. Not to mention that pretty much every class has a couple of legacies that are becoming more and more ridiculously overpowered with every new tier added.

    And before I have people point out that it's so bad of a grind given what we have available and the numerous ways we can obtain star-lits and empowerment scrolls (even if said ways take very little time before they become repetitive and mind-numbing), I just want to say that I am not protesting the increase because of the grind but because the lack of difficult content that warrants said increase.

    Anyway that's just my 2 cents worth. Here's hoping that SSG is better at listening for feedback from BR than Turbine was.

    I don't mind grinding some more LI levels but I'm worried about it making the T2C Raids less challenging.

    T2C Raids are good as they are currently.

    Shield-smash max 4 targets

    Why are you changing Shield-smash so that it affects only 4 targets? A move such as this further encourages Guardians to shift away from damage threat and to rely more upon taunt mechanics. Fully tank spec'd it's not as though we were dealing any significant amount of damage to targets as it was, we're honestly talking about like 3-8k each target. In a full tank spec we weren't traiting the additional targets to kill mobs faster, we were traiting the additional targets to assist with tagging targets and maintaining aggro.

    Oh boy, this will be a fun one to post in the Guardian forums. ~sigh

    Please also consider fixing the barrage tiering for hunters. Red line should be the damage-dealing one, not the blue barrage-fest. Even if it cripples the class dps, the broken skill should be fixed. Ideal situation would be fixing the skill, and increasing induction-based skill damages and bleeds (duration for barbed arrow bleed+buff to HS bleed) so we can be competive in red without abusing the broken skill. Also increase to redline HS procs wouldnt hurt since we are not spamming focus skills which proc them in this line.

    Another great thing would be merging the induction/focus crit legacies into one. Or adding evade-major as a secondary to str stance damage bonus-legacy. It is stupid that we need to waste a legacy to even hit enemies on endgame.

    Memes aside, this is the tail wagging the dog: the tooltip should be changed to reflect the current (live) functionality, not the other way around. 7-target Shield-smash is a feature, not a bug. Guardian has exactly three skills that damage more than 5 targets: Shield-smash (7 targets with Follow Through 3/3), Sweeping Cut (7 targets with Broad Strokes 2/2), and War-chant (8 targets with Demoralizing Anthem 5/5). It requires special effort to gain all three of these traits when spec'd blue or yellow, and it's currently impossible when spec'd in red. Perhaps if the Area Effect Skill Damage imbued legacy included extra targets, the problem wouldn't be quite so bad. And why are extra targets important in tanking? Because if you're not maintaining a certain level of threat/second on all the targets, a squishier class will draw aggro, and that's a good way for fellowship members to die. Even Silent Street T1 features more than 8 targets at times, and those adds are not benign!

    Please revert this change and fix the existing problems with Guardian rather than go searching for non-broken traits to "fix."

    "Need" is the right word but you use it in the wrong place. Question should be asked what -need- there is for LI rise now? U21 has mordor and most likely level cap increase, why LI rise now?

    Whole point of old system was do LIs once or twice depending on the expansion and then upgrade when next one comes. And mind you it took about 1/10th of emp scrolls to max one LI. I would take old system in blink of an eye. Would balance game miles better than its now.

    And as said before guardians shield-smash change is bs.

    40 meds per is just outrageously expensive. Wonder how many stacks I can afford right now.
    Making a new alt through 100-cap in the current game I nommed around 500 of those rep tomes just to keep up. Reason is we don't have any incentive other than rep to hang around doing dailies to max rep in all of those areas and +rep is ALL we gain. So consider increasing rep gain from DA and on by 2 x (for one area doubling the +rep gain at all points wasn't enough either I think but not in the game to check if I got to max or not). On top of that, all of those rep areas give +5 store points per finish instead of 5 10 15 20, which seems a rather cheap move. That should change retroactively. The same goes for advanced slayer deeds.

    And yeah, you'll see another +10 imbued legacy tiers over and over!
    We'll have an imbued LI strength equivalent of character level 140-145 and it's available immediately on reaching lv 100.
    This does nothing good for any of the level 100 areas and means all of the 105 stuff just got easier.

    Oh and the balance for hunters, consider making the barrage leg +25% just like the current yellow Lingering Wound maxes out at or boost that yellow already.

    These days, DPS class's DMG is literally uncontrollable. You guys made this from increasing Legacy's Tier.
    And where is any improvement on Aggro magnitude? No. There wasn't any of it.
    And now you plan to decrease Guardian Shield-Smash's max target? This is ridiculous. You MUST increase Shield-Smash's max target actually.

    If you decrease it, how can Guard manage Aggro?
    Plz Go Raid and TRY to maintain 10+ foe's aggro.

    Increase the tedium of rep grind (especially for alts) with the outrageous rep accelerator price increase.

    Excellent moves (!)

    If you are keen on listening to feedback for a change, please reconsider:

    Update the tooltip of Shield Smash/Follow Through to reflect the current situation, not vice versa, as stated above.
    Postpone the LI tier increase until the expansion/level cap increase.
    Cancel the rep accelerator price increase, or redo it as no more than a 10% increase.

    Well this will work totally, reducing max target´s of shield smash, while improving dps for champs.(irony off) This is reducing guards to a forcetaunt ##### and even this is for maxtanking 30s cd on challenge niot enough to keep without others skills with an amount on so few max targets against a aoechamp without a max number of targets.
    I fyou don´t wanna have any gaurds left in game say it and give them the chance to have another class on the level tehir gaurds are with equal equip.

    It's rather difficult to get people to test the crafting instances when you have to do questing to unlock it in the first place. Please allow people to easily access it next beta for better testing.

    Rank 59 Lingering Wound legacy is only 11.6% and quite probably only affects initial damage. Yellow line definitely needs balancing with the other lines and boosting Lingering Wound legacy + including DOT damage would seem a straightforward way to do this given the legacy is only available on imbued LIs.

    Just dont make useless our supreme armor pieces that we got with so much pain and dedication from t2c throne of the dread terror raid.You did it once with the jewells dont do it again.To barter a T1 piece with some kind of item from t2c and get a better piece than the supremes that we already have is unacceptable.At least give us the oportunity to upgrade the supreme and t2c pieces that we already have.

    yellow is for hunters just an offline there is never a need to play it. cc and buffing/debuffing is not the job of hunters.
