    Return To Zork reference

If there is already a thread about this then I apologise. Anyway, has anyone else come across the reference to Return To Zork in Lord Of The Rings Online?

    Care to share the spoiler?

I never got into Zork, my brother and I were already too spoiled by the graphical wonder displayed in The Wizard and the Princess and Mission Asteroid.

    Question

    What is a Zork?

Landroval: Kibilturg (Watchers of Elendil); Taurunion, Erohtar (Taters and Traders)
Crickhollow: Kibilturg (Tarciryan Knights); Zigilturg (Forever Notorious); Nuncle (Casual Wanderers)

Zork is a text based adventure game that was one of the very earliest computer games out there when it was first created back in 1977, and which later became a whole series.

It was the first computer game that I fell in love with, and it wouldn't be much of an exaggeration to say that I learned to read by playing Zork I: The Great Underground Empire on the Apple IIe that my dad bought "for work" back in the day. Playing through it (and much of the series) every year is one of my nerdy traditions.

What we will find in Mordor is Grues (probably hiding in the mailbox).

I guess that means that the devs need to create a new pocket item: Lamp.

Thanks I missed that age of gaming almost completely coming way too late to computers. Discovered some classics like Pirates! decades after their release.

You do realize that Zork was originally an on-line game. Patterned after Colossal Cave aka "Adventure" - on the PDP10 at BBN -- played via the ARPAnet back in the early 70s. And that Colossal Cave was a computer simlation of Mamouth Cave in Kentucky.

But then I'm probably older than MoL.

I do! I also played and really liked an Apple II port of Adventure, although I did prefer the Zorks.

Here's to us! [old-time computer gamers]

Alas, this was probably my first damaged 'unbackupable' [at the time] disc, and I didn't get very far past that.

    Here's HHTG [infocomm game]: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/arti...ersary-edition
(I had them working on a Palm, but never really had a compelling system for the old infocomm games after that).

Not sure I've seen the reference, where in LOTRO is it?
