With regards to the posting restrictions, we had some terrible problems with a Black Magic spammer (seriously!) named Baba Ji a few years back. Since forums were open to anyone who registered this character was blasting them full of garbage every night. Add to that the occasional disgruntled player who created a new account just to be a jerk on the forums. One spent and entire 3 day holiday weekend posting hardcore porn photos.

SSG has stated that they do plan to revamp these forums again at some point in the future. That will likely do away with the remaining custom code from a decade ago which makes it impossible for them to manage vBulletin and keep it updated.
Thank you that answer was perfect, much appreciated.

Why do I start with no marks but my friend starts with something like 3000+??

    Good morning,

I just told my friend very proudly that I had managed to earn over 1000 marks skirmishing. My friend doesn't skirmish at all but then told me that he STARTED with 3000+ marks at the beginning of the game. When he started the game, he had a free account - just the same as me. He's not aware of any setting he selected or any purchase he made on the LOTRO store for those extra marks at the start...

    Just curious...

    Why?

It's also possible that he gained the marks from silver hobbit presents. Two of the rewards are 500 marks and 1000 marks plus a virtue XP potion. Your friend could easily have opened these at login each day and not noticed the mark award message.

    Hi

    Hi, I'm Gamoholic from Australia,
I've just hit level 20 playing as Dagobic, a hobbit hunter on Crickhollow. I'm a bit new to MMO's in general, and LOTRO looks like the best one I've tried.
I've loved LOTR ever since i discovered it back in 2002 and am also a fan of the tabletop Middle Earth SBG by Games Workshop.

I thought i read somewhere that lvl20 allows you to chat with other players. Is this the case? How does that work?

If you're FTP you don't get access to the global chat channels, World, Trade and LFF, until level 20. Premium players get access at level 10 and VIP players don't have to wait at all. So, depending on your account type, you may have access already.

For more info on chat and how it works see here - https://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Chat_channels

Thanks, I am currently FTP but considering the benefits of VIP.

    War-Cry in Warden trait tree

    Greetings,

There's a 'War-Cry' trait in the trait tree which increases various things relating to the 'War-Cry' gambit... I can't find any gambit at the moment in my active or gambit skills and when I look it up on LOTRO wiki it states it's an out-dated captain skill.

    Confused... ?

I couldn't find anything in the forums relating to this query so I'm guessing I'm missing something obvious.

War-Cry is fist+shield. You get it at level 13. So maybe you aren't there yet? https://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/War-cry_(Warden)

New to LOTRO and want to like it

Hello, I am very new to LOTRO and the MMORPG genre. I love LOTR and have really enjoyed the game so far but I'm starting to wane a bit. I'm just going from quest to quest to quest and I am starting to wonder whether this is it or if I am missing something. I've searched YouTube for videos but they're either too much intro (character creation) or beyond my knowledge of the game (crafting items, legendary items, etc). I am level 17 and love exploring the Tolkien lands but running back and forth from one quest to the other is starting getting a little old. Especially when I get to someone and they sand me right back to where I came. I don't know anybody who plays so I came here. I guess am asking if this is the game or am I doing it all wrong? Any information or advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Hello. I plan on starting to play LOTRO again from scratch. I would like to know what class should I play considering I want to become a tank late game. I would like a class that also has enough dps to do quests and other stuff solo with it. Any recommendation would be appreciated

At the low levels (original levels that started the game years ago) the running back and forth is all over, but it does become less in newer areas. These quests are also called FedEx quests because you run all over the place delivering something to some NPC, then return to where you just came from to do more. The grind never goes completely away, it is part of all MMORPGs. In short, it is the game and not you. It will become easier once you open up your travel skills; get a Horse, open up Swift Travel Routes and Return to travel plus your class travel skills.

Since you have not mentioned which class you are playing and your account type (Free to Play, Premium or VIP) each of these has different benefits for a player, it will be difficult to give more accurate information. Hopefully the below links will be of help to you in understanding the wonderful game that is full of the Lore we all Love. Question have you read the books?

In LOTRO all classes can solo.

Depending upon your play style and account type:

    Guardian
    Captain
    Champion
    Warden
    Beorning

Thank you! I think I will try champion, seems pretty fun. Or maybe warden as it doesnt seem static in combat.

If you change your mind and go for a Warden, be aware Warden is a Premium class, you have to buy it, and it is an advanced class like the Lore-master. A warden takes some getting used to and does have a steep learning curve when compared to other tank classes. If you go Warden this tool, Warden Gambit Aid may be of help.

More Wardens have died from fumble fingers than have been defeated by mobs

Thank you for the response! I have heard about the kind people in these forums but it really warms my heart to see it firsthand and and makes me want to play even more.

To answer your questions, I am a free user but will pay if it makes the game more enjoyable. I am currently playing as a level 18 Elf Champion on the Brandywine server. I love the books which is keeping me playing.

Thanks again for the information. I will make use of it.

Store not working. and other issues...

I've had my account for a long time... As in like well before the game switched from turbine, and the system they had was pretty good... Just now coming back and was going to bring some friends with me, but... I'm running in to a lot of issues. The store, simply won't load, it just pops up a blank black box which says store, as well as other issues, like in the forum when I went to report this issue it simply brought me to a page saying the page I was looking for can't be found. The daily reward used to be almost like a prize picker which would show how close you were to getting maybe the piece of mathom gear you wanted... Now it just says here's your men of dale crams. Kinda dull and removes the fun. Wanted to make and buy the stout axe race so I could make one but can't even pull up the store. tried to pull it up in game on one of my characters but same black box... What's the deal?

For Store issues, check one of the many threads which mention some workarounds, e.g.:
    https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthr...re-Please-help!
In my case giving it a couple of minutes to load properly works (I'm on an old Win7 laptop).

For reporting bugs and generally communicating with support, go here:
    https://help.standingstonegames.com/hc/en-us

Hobbit gifts have been revamped some time ago partly to include daily virtue consumables. Not a big fan of the new look either but it is what it is.
Stout-axes will be available in the store in March for 1000 LP, currently they can only be bought with Minas Morgul expansion at LOTRO Market.

    Snowborn and transfer

    Hi There,

I have had a long absence from LOTRO and have logged in to find my old server not there. I guess it has been deleted along with all my characters? Or can i somehow transfer to a new server with my old characters? I'm hoping so, as i really don't want to start afresh.

Your characters haven't been deleted but you can't access or transfer them to open worlds right now.

All transfer services are currently disabled and have been for the past 4+ months. The team is working on bringing them back but we don't know when that's gonna happen.

Oh, that's too bad, I really wanted to play now. However, what you are saying is my characters are still available from snowborne and soon as the Devs have sorted the transfer issue, all will be good to go.

Which eu server is the best to play on?

Yes, that's correct. You can check how many chars you have on each server by clicking Transfer on the launcher - it will list all your toons. The only data that was deleted were old european Codemasters accounts if the user failed to migrate to Turbine during grace period in 2011.

Judging by last week's Bullroarer session, they're making some progress with transfer issues.

As for servers - Evernight is the busiest one still I believe. Laurelin if you're into RP.
