REASONS: Collecting the Orc-Swords is not a problem, but if you're the only person in the area, getting to and defeating the slaughterer is nigh on impossible for a lvl 24. He's surrounded by 3 other Lvl22 orcs, and the re-spawn rate for the other orcs nearby was insane. As a Lvl25 LRM, finding a Lvl23 GRD to group with made all the difference. It was still tough, but we did it.
Amen to this one. I tried this as a 25 Hunter. Swords were a cake-walk. I figure I've got this guy in the bag. Climb up the stairs, taking out random orcs as I go. Get to the cluster of orcs at the top and begin to doubt myself. A mini-elite with 3 guards beside him and two guards just a touch in front. I figured that the quest saying it's soloable must mean I can do it. I try to pull the front two to discover that this agro's the other 3 plus the slaughterer. Well, 6 on 1 was pretty much insta-death. I retreat, wait for dread to vanish, buff up w/ food and such and go back. This time I was more careful and was able to pull the front two without grabbing the back four. Now I trap, and pull the last group. By the time I get through all of this, the two guys at the bottom of the stairs respawn, agro me, and we're back at 6 on 1... and I die.

I don't see how this quest is soloable at 24. I'm 27 now and haven't gone back to try it yet. I might give it a shot tonight. I'd recommend bumping this up to small fellowship as well.

Reasons: The Great Aurochs-Skull can be found just on the other side of the road east of Esteldin. While there is a timer, it is relatively easy for a single person to carry the Skull and avoid agro from enemies, since most of the enemies between the Earth-Kin camp and the Skull are non-agro Aurochs.
I've been told there is a 2nd Great Aurochs-Skull that is in a large camp guarded by goblins...but the one by the road allows for a solo player to solve this.

REASONS: I was finally able to do this quest solo with my Guardian at 30. When you get to the top of the platform where Slaughterer lives, there are just to many Orcs. Attacking any one Orc brings 4-5 more down on you. I got 933 exp and the choice of 3 items that were way below my level. Just not worth it!
I never completed this without either mooching off somebody else's presence or... well yeah... thats the only way. From what I remember the last time, piggy backed behind a party... you know, the fellowship that went up together for the supposedly solo quest... hint hint, and let them do their thing while I took up position behind the spawn, then only agro I got was the respawns of the Slaughterer and his guards as they came back. Clearly not a method by which to balance the quest. I think I was a little above the recommended level with my herald soaking some agro as well.

I tried this solo as a 30Burg and got wiped. Came back next day with kin (27M) and it was a cakewalk--champion or captain had just walked through it and the Slaughterer re-spawned well before the other orcs.

REASONS: The add ons in this quest are rediculous. Either get rid of the linked mobs and add ons, raise the level of this quest, or make it a fellowship one.
Even at 20 solo, this quest is slow going. It's not that there are linked mobs or add ons as such, but that everything is so cramped, with bridges and courtyards that place mobs right above/underneath each other. All it takes is for one to "call for help" and the ones above and below aggro too, regardless of distance along the z axis. This naturally pulls all the others on the path between the player and the aggroed mobs.

That makes it hard even for a stealthy character, as it only takes one runner to cause a defeat.

This is the only solo quest in the Lone Lands that I left till well after the recommended level.

Re: Reported Quest Difficulty Levels and Recommendations

The problem with this and most quest ratings is that the level stated may not apply to all classes. I did this quest fine at 18 with my guardian and lore master (thank the Valar for double-mezzing!), but my captain got whacked twice and my hunter thought it wiser to go in a duo. Not all classes can deal with fast respawns and groups of at least 3 every few feet.

I have found that the best bet for this quest is to not go up into the ruins but stay on the ground level and work your way through the goblin camps. Dont get too close to the goblins above and you dont have to worry about inadvertant aggo.

I've run this a few times on various alts, and eventually figured out what I think the devs had in mind. If you watch the Slaughterer closely for long enough, he will eventually walk out the back of his area, where he can be pulled solo. He is not linked to the other mobs in the middle of the platform.

It is thus possible to work your way up to his platform, kill the mobs in the very front (that are not linked), and then skirt the outside of the platform all the way to the back. Then it's just a matter of waiting for him to do his mini-patrol.

Now, having said that, if the devs did not intend that strategy, this is in no way a solo quest.

As a burglar you can sneak past his guards and solo him at the very back on a little dead-end bridge. Other classes cannot get by his guards to solo him.

At one time the mobs at the front were not linked, but now they all come if you aggro any of them. Anyway you try, you will end up with 4-5 mobs on you.

REASONS: The wolves agro on you so much and they run away and grab more wolves into the fight. Taking on two is no problem, but when they run away and bring in 3 more into the fight it is impossible for a solo quest. I have ran this quest at 29, 30, 31 over again trying to do this solo. I grouped up with one other level 30 and we had the same problem with too much agro for a solo quest. It took 4 of us to finally beat the quest and deal with so many wolves coming at you. Either make this a fellowship quest or turn down the agro level on the surrounding wolves.
I'm going to have to agree with this one. Either change the recommended level, change it to small group, or thin out the wandering wolves.

To begin with, having a lvl 31 signature for a lvl 27 solo quest seems a little extreme. I tried this one a couple of times with my lvl 29 minstrel. She probably could have taken down the signature, but I never had the chance because every time wolves would wander in and agro. I'd have a large area cleared for the battle, but it was almost as if extra wolves were dropping in from the sky.

Signets of Rhudaur, level 35, supposedly go into Misty mountains.

Having died oh, about ten times now and waisted two hours I'm almost certain the corcur in this zone are 40+ level, perhaps somewhere I'm missing, but lets face it a level 35 quest should not be targetting 40th level mobs.

A little more detail on who/what you're suppose to fight would be just spiffy, or a bit more accurate level for the quest.

    QUEST: Guaradain's Artifacts
    CATEGORY: Evendim
    JOURNAL LEVEL: 37
    JOURNAL ICON: Solo
    ACTUAL LEVEL: 37
    ACTUAL ICON: Fellowship
REASONS: Only one of the 4 artifacts is easily able to be obtained by a solo player.
The other 4 require that you are able to fight at least 4 L37 mobs all at once.
There are too many dogs near the pool who will aggro on you if just one does and you cant pull them singly.
At the top camp where the last artifact is I had to fight 2 garadans and 3 dogs at once.
    No chance.
The Mob respawn rate is so high that if you die and run back as fast as you can , all the Mobs will have respawned.
So far every qst Ive done in Evandim seems ridiculously hard for the supposed stated level.

    CATEGORY: Lone-Lands

    ACTUAL LEVEL: ~30
    ACTUAL ICON: Small Fellowship
REASONS: The foes in this quest ("Balt-Olog Crusher", "Balt-Olog Heaver") are L 25 elites (and tough ones at that) who respawn very quickly and come in bunches! At L 30 as a Champion I could have soloed it by pulling single trolls out of their spawn area, but it would have taken forever as I had to recover from down to 1/3 or less morale after every fight. As it was, it took the better part of an evening with myself as a L 31 Champion fellowed with a L 30 Hunter.

It wasn't for me -- I checked that specifically when I was running the quest because it seemed so out-of-whack.

IIRC, you can kill the easier wargs by the goblin encampment to the west and get credit for this quest. That might be a bug, but it works. I think I was able to take out the level 25 wargs as a level 22, but it was indeed a bit tough (and it does seem inconsistent).

Concerning the Slayer Deeds and repeatable Reputation quests - they are generally leveled based on the lowest level enemies in the region that will count towards the accomplishment or drop the rep item.

There are almost always higher level enemies that will also count towards these same deeds/quests, and they may in some cases be easier to find or occur in larger numbers, but the target level of the deeds/quests doesn't generally reflect this.

    hello all,

the new lore master non -combat pet quests are labled level 29 solo quests..all of these quests take place in agamuar in lone lands..this is a deadly elite zone and can in no way be completed by a level 29 lore master solo.all of these quests have you go deep into the area too, without being able to aviod mobs to find the pet lairs.also the pet lairs themselves are very hard to find.

If you wish to keep these quests solo i suggest moving them out of agamaur area and put them in a place with more normal mobs rather than all elites like it is in agamaur area.

    Thanks

    QUEST: Scattered Belongings
    CATEGORY: North Downs
    JOURNAL LEVEL: 26
    JOURNAL ICON: Fellowship
    ACTUAL LEVEL: 26
    ACTUAL ICON: Solo
REASONS: This is a quest to harvest from broken barrels. I have had no trouble soloing this quest with any of the 4 classes I've done it with. This is the only quest initially available in Lin Giliath, and it opens up 8 new quests, a few of which are solo quests. Marking this quest as a fellowship quest when it is not is a deterrent for some to attempt this quest at the proper level, leaving them with less quest options at that level.

My guess is that this quest, and a few others, are marked as fellowship because the quests which follow it are fellowship quests. But in a case like this, where it opens up many quests, it should be rated based on the merit of the quest itself.

Aye, to finish an Angmar Trait I killed Trolls in Ram Duath (passage between Lehma Koti and West Angmar) and didn't have to worry about campers, getting swarmed (like in the arena in East Angmar) etc. I soloed them in fact. Would do them in intervals, when sundown hit I'd go there, when dawn came, I'd do something else.
