Vilya Freep PvMP Guide. from the eyes of a horrible rk

Two weeks ago I came back from a 1year break and quite frankly I am appalled at the state that freepside is in. Too many new players have come to the moors and sadly have had no guidance and thus are what we call "steves". So I have decided the best course of action will be to make a sort of beginners guide to raiding in the moors that I hope will teach some of you a few things. I am sorry for my poor writing skills as I do not do this often so bear with me.

When it comes to playing a freep character in the moors there are 3 major things you need to understand.

    1. You are going to die ALOT... Do not despair dying is all a part of the pvp experience, if you wished to faceroll mobs and never die then the ettenmoors is not for you. On my rk alone I have 5,500 deaths but as I see it every one of those deaths was a learning experience. When you are in a raid please and I stress PLEASE do not yell at your healers that you have 1 warg nibbling at your toes, we know you are taking damage and we are doing our best to keep the whole raid alive. In the situation where you are taking damage from a creep the best option is to run towards your healers even if they are right next to the creeps. I know this may sound a bit odd as most people's first reaction is to run away when taking damage but a healer can only keep you alive if you stay in range of our heals.

    2. Contrary to Popular belief YOU DO NOT KNOW BEST! You are new to the moors so you do not understand how it works but do not despair that is why you have raid leaders and veteran players to guide you. We have been at this a long time so we understand a lot more than you so if we give you an order it will be in your best interest to follow it. Our goal as raid leaders isn't to wipe the entire raid over and over again, the quickest way to victory is by following the directions given to you. When everyone does what they are told a raid works like a well oiled machine and makes our life a heck of a lot easier.

    3. Follow the target assist. This is by far the biggest one, following the target assist in a raid is crucial to victory. When your target caller says kill target A that mean KILL TARGET A not shoot at the warg on your bum, keeping you alive is your healers job and following the target assist is yours. A target caller in the raid has by far the hardest job, they have to decide what target is best to take on in an ever changing environment so if they give you a direct order to focus a certain creep you better damn well focus said creep. You may be asking well why should I and in that case refer to number 2.

Being a raid leader is the hardest job you will ever imagine in pvp. You get blamed for every death EVERY SINGLE PERSON TAKES, you get blamed for all the raid wipes and you get blamed for ruining the action. Take it easy on your raid leader they are only there to help you. We want to kill everything in sight but without a well balanced raid who focus fires every target called only death will await you. So next time you are thinking to yourself "this guy is an idiot I'm not going to do what he says" just remember he/she has taken it upon themselves to group you all up and take on the stress on leading you around the moors in the hopes on some good fights.

Now as I said earlier I know I am not the best writer out there but I figured that if you take atleast 1 thing away from this guide I will have accomplished something. I am no where near the most knowledgeable person out in the moors so if you have input of your own feel free to contribute to this.

After recently coming back after a 5 month break I would agree with everything except for the quote above. The veteran players are teaching the newer players bad habits.

Contrary to popular belief you do not need a group to leave gv. You do not need a raid to pvp. You do not need overwhelming numbers to engage creeps. You do not need to come to the Ettemoors to pve as you have all of middle earth for that as a freep. If you die you don't loose anything. Its ok if you die, you respawn.

While I do not see one veteran player out right now that doesn't run when attacked there are some somewhere I would hope. The best way to learn what you need to know to be successful is to try, stay in the fight, try to win and decide for yourself what to do differently next time. Do not assume that a high ranked freep knows more than you do. Rank doesn't mean anything but time played, it does NOT mean they are a good player. Surround yourself with nice and decent folks, don't follow the masses. Each encounter with creeps will teach you something useful OTHER than running. Use getting zerged to work on your survival techniques. Use your 1v1 or 2v1 encounters to work on your actual fighting skills. Experience in actual combat is the best way to learn what your class has to offer in pvp.

While creeps are your enemy remember these things:
Creeps will respect someone who tries more than someone who runs.
Believe it or not most creeps will help you get better, just play and always feel free to stop over and ask for advice.
You fighting with creeps helps them in turn get better.
When you come to the moors creeps want to play with you, not watch you pick up wood.

That's my advice from Creepside anyways take it for what you will. If you want a freep that can help you.... talk to a beorning named Illy-something or other, they seem from my point of view, to have the general concept of how the moors works.

Vilya pvp isn't dead its just inconsistent. There are going to be times you will find yourself bored, but it never stays that way for long.

There are some classes where the non-dps skills are just as important as dps'ing, I'm thinking mostly of LM, but in between fights, ask if your class does have a secondary role and if there is a reason in the middle of a big fight if you should perform that other role.

I haven't posted for years, but I've decided to put in my two cents.

    1. Creeps have maps. Even if they're "solo," anywhere from 3-15 are just sitting in grams or grothum where they are hiding and waiting to map in to zerg you (go make a creep and just watch OOC if you don't believe me). Currently, I've only seen a select few creeps trying to 1v1. You might as well get it in your head that any you see are most likely calling you out. Further, the creeps are grouped a good part of the time too. Looking for defiler group heals (efflorescence) is one way to know if they're grouped or not.

    2. Don't feel bad about trying to survive. The creeps talk a lot, but wargs use hips and sprint, other creep classes brand and run away, and often creeps seem to hide and wait in grams rather than making any kind of stand. Most of them are hypocrites. Dying in a good fight is glorious, but if you can get away while being jumped, well why not get away?

    3. It's a community game. If you're getting beat-up, group up and take it to 'em. It's up to the creeps to do something about it besides whine.

    4. Don't listen to creeps like Kate. The only thing she knows how to battle is a forum thread. Big bark but little bite.

    5. Check out creepside and learn the different skills they do. It will help you understand how to fight them. But don't stay too long, it does something weird to people after a prolonged period of time.

    6. Don't waste your time trying to garner respect from creeps. If they like you, then you're doing something wrong. Beat them down and bask in their trolling, it means "job well done."

    7. Where have you been Turine?

    Love,
    Dahhu

Tis true, not all creeps you will find are solo. Healers tend to group more than most it seems. I know with war leaders its because all but 1 of their heals is group only. While not all them group it might be safe to assume most of the time creep healers are.

I think if you start a fight its my opinion you should finish it, there is much more to be learned in fighting the fight than running away. I do think there are times you should run or avoid a fight completely. For example if you are scouting on either side and get caught your main objective is to keep eyes on the group you are scouting, not fight and loose track of the group.

This is a great idea in addition to asking different people for advice.

QFT.... this should include all creeps considering they have all the most failed players in vilya leading zergs but especially the hutt... that is unless you like rage logging, hate delving buffs but love ezmoding, and like imaginary fantasy worlds...

I'd also say talk to many players (but probably not a good idea near possible conflict zone~)

There is alot of configuration options available, and for me I got very easily overwhelmed before I kept talking with other guards and brought it back into focus. This is both for traiting and for gear. Compare notes often.

I'm not as skilled with maneuvering, so my play style needed to be different than someone better at footwork, for example.

You and your posse will be sad to hear i've returned to vilya, but don't worry i don't plan on coming out much. It seems whenever i'm out you guys run back to grams as quick as possible. I don't understand why, i'll throw you guys a bone every once in a while and let you kill me .

In all seriousness, it's been, what, a year? Whatever petty grudges you have, please get over it by now. So, so salty.

LoL what posse? What grudge? Do you even know what you are talking about?

I find it funny you couldn't handle the pvp on BW much like you couldn't handle it here in the first place.

Sorry I'm a little slow, I didn't realize you weren't just ignorant but arrogant as well. Assuming I hold a grudge against whatever you think you have done to me would imply that I actually think you are important enough to hold a grudge against which is simply not the case here. When I said you weren't missed it was just telling the truth. I'm not sorry your ego got hurt.
