Second question is the easiest to answer. Turbine has a "block" imposed on New Forum registrants.
I don't know the details, but in general, "Newbees" can only post in a limited number of Forums - I'm not certain which ones, but I believe it is the 3 Technical forums at the bottom and "New Player Questions & Impressions."
I've never seen the details posted, but Sapience (now replaced by Frelorn) when he was Customer Service manager commented on its existence several times.
So I can't tell you how long or how many posts it requires for your status to change.

As for your Class Traits (or anything else like that) disappearing -- I assume you mean going to a Black window -- That is a specific glitch in the Client, and is usually followed by a Client Crash in a minute or two.

If you mean your changes are not being saved --
1- make certain they you have clicked the "apply" button at the bottom. And then clicked yes in the pop-up.
2- In general -- many aspects of the Game World "status" are only saved when you successfully and cleanly "Exit" the game. Much "status" information is updated in real-time with the server (things like location come to mind immediately) but other "settings" (many things set in the Options panel) are only saved ONCE -- at the completion of your playing session, on a clean exit.
In the PC Client, this is when the "UserPreferences.ini" file is updated. On the Mac Client, it is when the "com.turbine.lotroclient.plist " file is updated.

There is a wealth of information about the Mac Client found on the Wiki -- https://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Mac_Client
