    Combat Analysis is back!

I have released a new version of the Combat Analysis plugin on Lotro interface.

Combat Analysis was created by Evendale who has spent years of work developing this extraordinary LUA plugin.

I added my own enhancements and I'll be maintaining the plugin for the foreseeable future, please post bugs, requests, praise, etc on the download page.

Is there a problem with the old one? I haven't had any issues with it that I'm aware of.
I'd explain it to you, but I'm all out of Puppets and Crayons.

I`ve used this plug-in in the past and it was excellent.

But, now I dont need a plug-in to tell me that combat is /faceroll.

Sadly yes, there were issues that made Lotro Interface remove it from the site to the distress of both Evendale and myself.

    But it is back now!

Yeah, the original author left a "backdoor" in the program that allowed three of his characters to send special codes in a chat channel that will cause your screen to have a fade-in overlay with the text "Please wait while your character is permanently deleted".

    Here's a video of it:

Evendale had built in some naught hacking (according to his own comments) that allowed him (or someone else with the same name on a different server), to put some bad things on player's screens that use this plugin, by using a say command. For this reason it has been taken of LotroInterface. I had edited out the naughty part myself when I found out, but it's nice it's back online .

    EDIT: seems I'm late :P

Thank you Lancair, I'm glad to see CA is back up. It's a handy tool that I use on almost all my alts, but learning of Evendale's easter egg left me disappointed and wondering what might be hidden in other plugins.

If you have an older version of CA, you can edit out the egg by following the instructions in this post (or post 17 if you prefer visual).

In defense of Evendale, the message "Please wait while your character is permanently deleted" is not something he put in the "naughty hacking".

The hack was that someone with a name matching one of his characters could put a message (any message) on your screen and make it flash while temporarily locking the UI.

In the incident shown in the video, someone who had discovered the backdoor and created a character with one of the recognized names (very likely not Evendale) *chose* to send the message "Please wait while your character is permanently deleted".

With that said, it was very poor judgment on Evendale's part, and its good that somebody has removed the abusive (but harmless) code from an otherwise nice addon.

I hate this program, what it does to the player base.. the negativity it creates in the game and more hate how rude and arrogant the creator is. I was so happy to not hear anything about it in so very long. I think that people become obessed with useless numbers, like an addiction. It takes away from the fun of the game. It's not the star of middle-earth.
