It is a community event. Sapience (the community manager) creates a dwarf on every server and then the people of that server need to bring him from point A to point B.
While this is happening, Sapience answers questions from the community. He will sometimes bring in other devs and these turn into in depth discussions of the games future.

It is similar to the Take the Hobbit to Isengard events. Except this time, Sapience will be playing a Dwarf that is to be escorted through Moria.

Basically the entire server is to work together to get Sapience's character from point A to point B in the quickest amount of time. Any deaths will set him back to the beginning and they will have to start over (but the clock does not reset). The server with the best time gets bragging rights and a festival turned on. (If they do the same as they did with TTHTI.)

I don't read the forum often, so I've never heard of those either.

That sounds like fun, thanks to all for the explanation. I'm not sure I understand how it works, but I guess the solution is to tune in. All my characters are on Landroval so am I right in assuming I won't be able to participate until September?

Not necesarrilly, you could roll another toon that cab get to Moria but yes if you dont want to do that.
You could always watch on Twitch and ask questions yourself, that is the most important part.

Dernudan is correct. You could always create a new character on another server, and then level it high enough to enter Moria.

If you would like to check out any of the runs, they will be shown on LOTRO's twitch channel : http://www.twitch.tv/lotrostream I believe that there are still some TTHTI runs saved on there, if you want to see what those were like.

The first five finishers were actually put into a cup and their names drawn out to set their positions. I did it live on a stream during the last TTHTI run.

The rest are just random other than some thought put in to make sure we didn't have all NA servers or all EU servers pile up in large blocks and so we could have an early run and a later run each week. I didn't put any thought into how they finished in the TTHTI runs.

The lord of the rings online are supported for englisch, french and german and again there is no translation about that event. If you stopped the translation of this languages say it, please. Everytime to allude you about that thing is absurd.

Communication is everything and this is very bad in the last few month between englisch and german translations.

Actually this is not completely correct as a number of players have no idea that this goes on. Until we get our new /world server wide channel the only way someone can post information on a server is via the /glff channel on their server. We know that a small minority of players actually use /glff so only a few will learn about it this way. Then there are the forums which we also know that only a minority of players use and as noted some of us just didn't know about it because they don't use the forums. There's twitch.tv and Facebook and twitter but there are now infamous reasons NOT to be using those venues for anything at all.... There are kinships who are working on this but sometimes is just a /glff shout out "Hey come to X location for a practice run" and if you don't see that or are not on line you won't know.

Currently on Nimrodel a prominent kinship is planning a server wide "festival" which is player run. They are using /glff to let players know and have contacted many kinships to pass on the open invitation to their event. You wouldn't think anyone would be upset about this, but there are players who resent the "spam" on /glff to announce a player-run server wide event. You can image the feedback trying to put this event into the same channel....

So, the event happens, it may or may not happen with the entire server. The event is open to anyone. There maybe a "team" getting together to do the run which I experienced on a "test run" on Landy where a raid was formed up to provide group speed and other buffs. If you don't get on a "team" you can follow along just the same, you just don't get the voice directions but can follow the dead-hobbit-crumbs on the wayside .

There are messages in the launcher too to advertise the event too but I don't think it's the entire server that shows up. I'm in a large kinship and I don't think they even know about this event or that Nimrodel is up to bat on July 10 and they are pretty active on the server too.

    Hi Sabriel,

ASF does know about the SHIELD run, but whether we organize for it is another story. Several of us worked on the TTHTI run and were there when that event went live. Coordination, well, .

I know about Sunday Rocks on Nimrodel, but the time is bad for me. I'll look into any other events as they come up, but often I can't make them.

LOL well see... communications are variable. I need to log into the ASF website more often. ROFL

It does highlight that when you play alts you can miss the message by a mile or two or all the way to the bottom of Moria and back....

I've updated the dates and times for the remaining runs to get them finished up as quickly as possible. The result is we trimmed a couple weeks off the final date (from Sept 30 to Sept 11 now) despite my needing to build a couple of holes into the schedule for travel plans.

Whilst I appreciate that this is the best and most convenient way to do the runs, it does mean that in the UK the later runs will be 11 PM (and later in more Eastern countries) which, on a Thursday in particular, is rather inconvenient for those who must alas be up early (and of them there are many). This means that I and others will be missing out on a lot more runs, and notably your final appearance.

Best of luck, then, in advance - I shall of course continue to plague you with questions all the way to the Belegaer!

This means that I and others will be missing out on a lot more runs, and notably your final appearance.

Best of luck, then, in advance - I shall of course continue to plague you with questions all the way to the Belegaer!
I tried to adjust the times to more closely match the play times on the servers for the events. I kept them at 5PM Eastern while I was in the office, which made it hard for those wishing to participate in the actual event, but moved them out an hour now that I'll be doing them from home and can have some additional flexibility in them.

If people feel very strongly about this, I can move it back to 5PM, but I'll need to know in the next 24 hours or so.

Interesting - looks like they didn't show up, according to the standings. I wasn't actually there for that run so I don't know what happened.
