A Chicken's Adventures EAST of the Misties

My first post on the forums... usually a lurker, but I had an adventure yesterday that was too fun not to share.

After following along as a chicken on Landroval's Take the Hobbit to Isengard, I decided to do a little exploring of my own... Thank you to Lindorieh, Hilthorin, Fincin, and Skoch for helping me get to the Fords of Isen waypoint and beyond to Helm's Deep!

For anyone who was wondering... no you can't enter Moria from the East as a chicken. I know. I cried too. My dreams of visiting the 21st Hall in feathers have been dashed.

    Still a grand adventure, though!

yeah, it's actually SUPER easy to get a chicken to helms deep. I got one to Helms Deep the saturday after the update (april 19th), and only took like 1 hr 2 mins without any escort at all. Still can't upload the pics since i dont have a hosting site though

That looks like such a fun adventure! Love the screen shots for each location! The poor chicken staring wistfully into Khazad-dum -- awww! :-)

So, chickens are unable to enter Moria via Lorien. That's something I'd been wondering about. I suppose that probably extends to lowbies as well?

I don't know about Lowbies. The exact error message I got when I tried to go into Moria was: "Session players cannot enter." SESSION players. That doesn't answer the Lowbie question.

I did not try to enter Mirkwood... I thought that would be less likely than Moria. But I'm still curious. Another day, perhaps.

I believe Mirkwood would have the same restriction as the Walls of Moria. You can go only so far before lack of character progression stops you. Chickens can't go in from the west because they don't have their LIs and haven't bested the Watcher. Chickens can't go into greater Mirkwood because they can't complete the landing quests.

Yes, Rozalinde, well done indeed. My goodness what exciting tales you will have to tell Pimpinella, George, Billina and all your other friends back at Sandson's Farm eh?

    Well done, Rozalinde!

On second thought, it's probably impolite to say "well done" to an oven roaster. In any case, you look fowl, but feel fair. Excellent job on avoiding assorted monsters and poultrygeists.

It would be awesome if you could get a screenshot from atop Amon Hen. (Seriously!) And I look forward to eventually seeing you standing atop the battlements of Minas Tirith and molting on the Witch-king of Angmar.

Amon Hen! Why didn't I think of that! I'll have to try that one sometime. That one would definitely require non-chicken guards, but I think it would be doable.

I'm hoping that Turbine will one day open up Gondor through another means--not just through the Paths of the Dead. If I could get there, I'd be swimming in the Dol Amroth fountains with the swans by now.

    Thanks for the kind words!

As the landmass of the game continues to expand, I'm reasonably confident that we will be have access to Gondor via the regular Rohan landscape. If not, we can always petition Turbine to allow hens to travel the Paths of The Dead. After all, according to the lore, that road turns all of us into chickens!

Maybe the first chicken to Minas Tirith can be awarded the Pullet Surprise.

Well done, I'll tell it around in the shire.

I can't remember the exact name of the skill you need to get into Moria, which is something like Seeker of the Deep Places. A lowbie might be able to get that with help, but I think that the Dwarf at the portal that starts it might not grant it to you if you're lower than 45. I know you can get the requisite quests at 45.

There is also a special travel skill required to cross the Great River Anduin into Southern Mirkwood.
