Gladden Taking the Hobbit to Isengard!

In case you didn't already see this, we are up Feb 7 at 5 p.m. Eastern.

I've watched one, and participated on a lowbie alt on another. It's incredible fun. Hopefully, we'll have a great turnout, and show those servers how it's done.

    Tips to combat lag

Archived runs are available on Twitch-Evernight's is archived at http://www.twitch.tv/lotrostream/b/497326416.

Lag is an issue-so request is for all cloaks to be hidden, and mounts to be stabled till we safely get the hobbit to isengard.

I've done this multiple times with kinships, though we usually start in Little Delving. Last time I did this was in late September of 2013 with Turning of the Tide. The past two times, I've played the escorted hobbit.

Here are some tips to make this smoother--especially for those of you who don't watch the livesteam:

    1) Hunters are an absolute must, not just for the speed buff, but for their on-the-move ranged attacks (auto-attack in particular).

    2) Try to keep at least one ranged class at the front and back of the party--once you hit the Trollshaws, your little hobbit will start to aggro creatures beyond the range of your mini map. This will begin once the Last Bridge in the Lone-lands is crossed.

    3) Keep at least one melee-range AOE class next to the hobbit at all times should anything get by the tanks/ranged dps.

    4) Shield Wall is your best friend, especially when paired with a LM's limited SI (even though these skills remove the greatest challenge of this event!)

    5) Depending on your route, some areas will give you more trouble than others. I have been down a few different paths and here are difficulties I've encountered:
    a) Trollshaws - Deer like to charge the hobbit and stun it, most likely one-shotting it.
    b) Trollshaws - Taking the Ford of Bruinen route through the bog lurkers. The lurkers have a large ranged aggro radius, along with the vines that surround them.
    c) Eregion - High Hollin and Low Hollin have many stealthed creatures. Be extra careful!
    d) Enedwaith - Mournshaws contains wood-trolls that like to range stun players. This is if the group decides to bypass the Bonevales.
    e) Dunland - Bonevales, Gravenwood, and Nan Curunir have an usually high density of ranged creatures.
    f) Isengard - While taking out the "Gatecrasher" trolls, have players keep an eye out for other creatures...they like to charge into the fight unexpectedly and beeline it for your hobbit.

    6) Last, but not least, is to remember what Bel-Astarte has already said--disable cloaks and stable all mounts. This will significantly reduce the lag generated by a large group of players. I'd also recommend disabling combat hit effects for both players and mobs in your UI Settings panel to reduce the lag a tad more.

And most importantly, even if you can't make it on Feb 7th, always remember that you don't need Sapience or any other GM to run this event. Anybody can do this with their kinship or a group of friends purely for fun!

    Excellent pointers there, Nathrien.

    Thanks.

I've watched or participated in the other runs, and saw a lot of what you mentioned in action.

Crickhollow's run is the best time so far, at 1 hour 2 minutes. They went through the bog lurkers, and through the bonevales, and cut across country at some of the key points in the map-particularly near the heathfells.

They had hunter speed boost, and made use of the Cappy Make Haste skill pretty freely as well, so if we can get some of those folks in the primary raid, that will help our time for this event.

It is epically fun, with a community manager or not. I'd love to do some runs within our kinship or just in general.

One other note for this particular event

We do not have to kill the trolls, just get Hadcar (Sapience) through the gates. That's when the timer clicks off.

Start at the Prancing Pony, end at the Gates of Isengard. Hobbit Parcel Service.

Many thanks to those who participated in our dry run.

was an interesting and fun first try-though we lost our package on the bridge of the Araniant to out of game aggro.

Look for other dry runs during the week if you want to see how things go, and hopefully we'll all see you for epic fun on 2/7!

I did a test to see how long it would take me to run there entirely unbuffed. Unfortunately I accidently reset my timer halfway through trollshaws, so my time is not entirely accurate, but I believe it to have been under 1 hour by a few seconds. Of course when you have a lowbie tailing you, this would go slower! Glad to see that this is starting to spark interest on gladden (:

I think the key to a good time is ensuring that whoever has the /follow on them is well aware of the route. On top of that, having groups out infront, at the back (and around the sides when possible) to try get the wee hobbit out of combat as often as possible!

I do want us to have a good time on the clock

But personally I'm more concerned we have a good time-full stop.

I am really happy to see so much interested being sparked as well.

So, let's make sure all the lowbies are protected, and the more "packages" the Gladden Hobbit Delivery services drops at the gates of Isengard, the better.

Lead the whole lotro community on the timing, great.

Lead the way on FUN, total victory.

1 hour, 5 minutes, 39 seconds, and immense fun!

Thanks to everyone who came out, and congratulations to achieving 2nd place in the current list!

The hobbit got a little soggy, but the package was delivered!
