15-Year Development On An MMO Comes To An End (AC)

    http://cstm.us/OWcpEe

No further development on Asheron's Call. That was a great game, anyone else played it?

I still think Olthoi were the best MMO monsters ever. Those things were scary!

I'm glad to see Turbine plans to let people run their own servers. LotRO may be around in some form forever!

Not really. Asheron's Call was Turbine's own invention; it owns
the IP. The IP of LotRO belongs to Saul Zaentz Corporation and
is leased out to various companies, chiefly WB. I doubt very much
that either corporation would allow private use of its material.

Damn straight they wouldn't... no $$$, no Rings. You weren't being very sagacious there, Beleg...

Nah, I was just making a joke. There won't be private servers for LotRO, I know.

I am glad to see they are hoping to do it for AC though. That was a pretty amazing game for its time. I played UO too (and it had some good points), but AC was better overall.

    Dear Turbine,

Thanks for all the Asheron's Call! Great work!

Now get to work on the spin off games and media. I expect to be knee deep in olthoi blood in the first action-rpg game by 2017.

    p.s. Quarter 1.

p.p.s and we get mattekar mounts

Oh man, I remember mining in that noob ravine just West of Britain and getting pk'ed on the way back and having my ore looted off of me. My god, that game was brutal. You had to recall right on the doorstep to your house and get in the front door before an invisible player could kill you. And when you were in your house you always had to have one finger over the key on your keyboard that activated the "ban" feature.

And in town you had to watch out for pickpockets. Or players posing as npc bankers to try to rip off your gold. And mounts and pets? Once they died, they stayed dead.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"
Continuing the never ending battle to keep Lobelia Sackville-Baggins in check
