    Obsolete confusion

In a lot of places you find barter NPC's (I referring to the ones in skirmish camps). Every time I've tried to deal with one they list a whole heap of items I've never encountered in the game.

Are these characters and the objects they barter for, now obsolete?

In other words like the trainers & bards are they now redundant and perform no function?

No wearable item is ever obsolete to the fashonista cosmetics hoarders. Except the ugly ones, maybe...

In seriousness though, cosmetics-addicts use these old barter vendors a lot to find cosmetic armor for cosmetic outfits. The stats may be for former level caps (and therefore semi-obsolete), but there are some "looks" that never go out of style.

The barter vendor in the skirmish camp in Harndirion in Enedwaith is my personal favorite.

    No.

    No.

Trainers still show what levels you'll get the generic (ie. not trait tree bound) skills at, they still sell you class items, they still grant lvl 15/30 class quests, they still sell the lvl 39 missing page deeds. And, for Captain/Lore Master, they barter for cosmetic skins on their pets.

Bards still sell the Basic Instruments so people can play songs.

I've not noticed these Skirmish NPCs before. Can anyone tell me which camps I might find them in, and what title they have?

I'm a cosmetic junkie and I love finding new stuff to try!

You mean the Cosmetics barterer? They're at EVERY skirmish camp. And, they're named "Cosmetics".

Along with their Cosmetic clothing, they also barter for some housing items and race/sex/hair/outfit/etc for Skirmish Soldiers.

Some skirmish camps also have additional Barterers that are only available at that particular camp. Like the Quartermasters at the skirm camp in Harndirion, Enedwaith. http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Harndirion These have gear (you can barter for with marks/medallions) that isn't really available anywhere else. Most of the gear is level/class restricted, but you can use it cosmetically via Wardrobe.

Don't be afraid to check the armor/gear skirm camp barterers too--not just Cosmetics. You can find some good gear-cosmetics there that you can use via Wardrobe to get around the class/level restrictions.

Oh the OP was talking bout the cosmetics NPCs? The obsolete items part threw me for a bit. Yeah they got some cool stuff.

In my defence nobody actually said which NPC by name. I've seen the Quartermasters as well.

The obsolete barterers (barterers of items than no longer drop in the game) are around just in case anyone still has one of the obsolete items.

The NPCs like the Hobbit in Esteldin outside the crafting hall, or the one in Michel Delving in the crafting area come to mind. They trade old crafting trophies for what is currently used. I think there is also a dwarf who trades items from the by-gone Amarthiel event.

Not sure what skirmish vendors they are talking about.

Those cosmetics vendors were one of those really nifty discoveries I made when I went "window shopping" in the skirmish camp one day as a newbie. I picked up a couple of items that I use a lot.

I have to ask though--did anyone else read the thread title and think "Confusion is never obsolete"?
