    Sammath Gul Lightning Boss (Alagossir)

    Can someone please explain to me exactly what changed in this fight towards the end of last year (was it in the nov patch or after that)? I can't find any information on the change except this thread. I've never run the instance before this week so I don't know exactly all the ways people used to do it and what changed.

    I'm guessing that it was the strategy of standing next to a pillar and getting hit by only one lighting attack per cycle shown in this video has been changed?

    I just ask because I think my kin used to have a different strategy of standing closer to the boss and running out to hit him at certain times and I thought THAT was the strategy had changed and made them try to dance around in the lightning in the middle of the room which didn't work out all that well, I hope I didn't make them dance for nothing :P.

    All you need to know is the pattern. Simple.



    Problem was Turbine let the exploit on for way too long (pretty much like DD and GS).

    i know that diagram (yes, we tried to follow, no it's not all that simple if you've never been in the room before as 4/6 of us hadn't) but what I was asking for was an explanation of what the exploit was that got fixed and what actually got changed. I'm not 100% sure that my kin's previous method was actually 'the exploit' (as i said, i think it was a different strat to that shown in the video above) so I don't know if it's still possible to do it their way. The lorebook entry does mention something about a window where melee can run in so possibly that's what they were doing.

    I really don't even consider it an exploit since finding a safe spot to stand in a pattern of attacks is hardly unreasonable. Originally there was a relatively safe spot by the pillars that would allow you to stand still and only get hit occasionally. Now they have changed the pillar so that you can no longer stand right against it, so you are in the path of more lightning strikes.

    There is still a safe spot at the back, but it is only available to hunters since there you have to be able to hit from 40 meters.

    Having a RK with "Do Not Fall to Storm" really helps in this fight. Like, really. I've saved so many party members with it.

    You can dance around the patterns if you find that fun.

    Or just plant everyone between the boss and the rail and have the RK use do not fall.

    The lightnings mechanics are also broken after HD
    I did it alone without moving (T1 only, some people did the T2C in fellow, same thing), lightnings are now inoffensive,
    whereas I remember they could OS some classes before.
