Unhappy New steam install fails on MAC

Hi I just loaded LoRO yesterday from steam. The launches fine, I login fine, then it fails when I select a server citing " It can't find an authentication server.

    Not running OSX firewall
Opened ports 9000-9010 and 2900-2910 on my router.

Is there a server name/IP I can test or better yet a tool I can run that checks server access.

Or is this typical with Steam or a MAC?

Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory 16 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    Software OS X 10.9 (13A603)

"can't find xx server" is some sort of communications issue. They usually are transient (unless the server is down) and clear up if you re-try.

As I recall (off the top of my head), the servers are "patch.lotro.com" "moria.patch.lotro.com" (bullroarer) "moria.gls.lotro.com" (authentication)

The strange thing in your report -- the sequence is:

    patch
    accept userid/password
    Contact authentication server
    select world

The "Launcher" handles everything down to the "select world" point.

When you select a world, the Launcher passes a Token (previously acquired from the authentication server in response to userid/password) to the Game Client.
The Game client then does the actual login.

    Look at:
~/Library/Logs/LotroLauncher.log -- tends to have "nothing useful" (basically just lists your "options" )
~/Library/Logs/com.turbine.lotroclient -- PatchClient.log -- normally only has info about patching

They "might" have a failure message.
