Game crashes changing characters or entering session play

I've been having this issue for awhile. Anytime I hit esc and log out a character, and then try to log in another character, the game crashes. The same thing happens 95% of the time I start a quest that enters session play where I have play as a different in game character.

Another problem I have, I don't know if it's related, the first time I load up the game for the day, I select my character, and it goes to the loading screen. Then it just sits there with the ring changing colors, no pauses, and the progress bar stays empty. I have to alt+tab and close the process, and then the second time, it loads fine.

    Any suggestions?

    You could check out:

Also, if that didn't help, have you tried moving the folder to where the path is more like

C:\Program Files (x86)\L ord of the Rings Online\lotroclient.exe

    and making a new shortcut?

Is there supposed to be an extra space in there?

or options > Repair Tab > and hit the 'Reset the game display settings'
Or rename the userpreferences.ini file to olduserpreferences.ini

or even try a reinstall and see if that helps.

    You may also want to

    1. Click Start, then click Run.
    2. In the Run dialog box, type: sfc /scannow.
Note: There is a space between sfc and /scannow.
    3. Click OK.
    4. Follow the prompts throughout the System File Checker process.
    5. Reboot the computer when System File Checker completes.

When you are zoning or changing characters you are also maybe changing ports.
