Thread: Neighbour Gifts

    Neighbour Gifts

Just a thought: it would be great if we could leave a visual gift for neighbours. Obviously we can send them mail, but I mean something that they can see at their houses - maybe even just a present box outside the door - that lets them and others see that a present has been left for them.

This might seem random but I have been trying to think of ways that would improve the interactions between neighbours - there is this one person who I know is very active because their furniture changes often but we never see each other.

Since interacting with mail other than your own has no effect, you could make clicking a mailbox outside someone else's home bring up the option of sending them a gift. Once someone has sent them a gift that day, a present prop would appear near their door for the rest of the day.

This would really encourage positive interaction between neighbours and go well with the 'hobbit presents'.

    Interesting idea!

I think more support for neighborhoods would be great.

Getting or giving presents would be really fun. It certainly fits the hobbit lore, moreso than the slot machine daily.

Isn't that the same that hobbit gifts do? They sneak a gift in your bag daily, wherever you are in the world. Hobbits seems to be linked to NSA because they always know where you at . By the way, this idea is recycled & someone already stated why is a bad idea on that previous thread. You have to log on all your 27 alts daily to find out who got the hobbit mail.

Why would you have to login? I think the OP's idea was to have a physical gift appear on your doorstep (or something similar). So all you'd have to do is visit your house once in a while.

Because he sugest using the mail to sent the gift & the way that mail system work is that no item get out of the mail until you physically open it:

I am not sure what previous thread you are talking about but it sounds like you are either bringing up a different idea (likely since you think hobbit gifts accomplish what this does) or someone made a completely irrelevant counter argument to it. This idea is about visual interaction with neighbours. Whether it gets sent to a specific person or to the house, and whether it gets sent by mail, is entirely down to what works. But it does seem to me that however the system works, accessing the house mailbox would be the obvious way to initiate it, because other peoples' mailboxes presently serve no purpose in the game.
