I love questing and I love grouping (why play an MMO if you don't).
Grinding virtue deeds makes me numb.

Legendary Items being a necessary evil now.

Grind. I don't mind putting in some effort to gain rewards. Mind-numbing grind however does not endear one to participation.

I will say, the grind to gain relics for LIs is now 'better'.

Needless quest travel/lack of travel locations is my biggest pet peeve. For example, there are a lot of quests where you meet an NPC, they tell you to collect something and return. You do that then they tell you to meet them somewhere else. The better way to handle that would be to collect the items for them and they could tell you to meet them at the town or next location after doing so instead of having to return to the original location and then just riding somewhere else. Often times, you pass the location where they are sending you on the way to meet them in the original spot! Stuff like that is poor form and a waste of time.

Poor swift travel networks in many of the under-60 regions of the game. Key missing routes (from memory): Bree-Trestlebridge, Trestlebridge-Esteldin, Esteldin-Aughaire, Rivendell-Thorenhad, Rivendell-Echad Candelleth, Rivendell-Gloin's Camp, most stables in Forochel-most other stables in Forochel, 21st Hall-Rotting Cellar, 21st Hall-Anazarmekhem, 21st Hall-Orc Watch. Honorable mention to Eregion, since as I recall the deed gating meant that you unlocked the swift travels as soon as they stopped being relevant. I remember the 21st Hall-Shadowed Refuge route used to have that same problem, not sure if that changed in the Moria revamps. Can't remember if there are swift travels to or within the Lone Lands - quite possibly those should be on the list as well.

Can't disagree with everyone bringing up the LI grind, either.

3 largest ones that come to mind are:

    Mechanic:
Right-click to travel to functional NPC (Vault, travel etc), relevant window appears, can't select anything because I'm not close enough.

    Gameplay:
When quests involve me acting as a conduit for a conversation between NPC's, going back and forth. Either let me escort them to each other, invent Semaphore signalling, or just decapitate them.

Lack of swift travel routes, particularly those in the Trollshaws, or the back way between Saradean's Cabin and Candaith's camp. Or anywhere to Barachan's camp.
    Elendilmir: Southern Cross Kinship
Freeps: Scruffodian; Scruffbeard; Scruffeldor; Scruffynerf; Scruffwulf; Scruffystone; Scruffiness; Scruffphor; Scruffward
Creeps: Frothrat; Frothfight; Frothed; Frothleg; Frothnakh; Frothface

Turbine has more than proven they are horrible at "scaling" things period. They always over-do things to the point absurdity.

Inspired Greatness basically turns you into a god. I frankly one or two shot everything while I have it. Nothing can hurt me. It's stupid and ruins the quest totally.

Another example is when they "down-scaled" the dungeons on this game. They went over-board so much that they basically turned much of the so-called "group content" into solo content. I can literally solo instances that are meant for 6 players now... to say nothing of the 3 mans. Let that be an example as to their judgment when "scaling" things.

They definitely need new talent at turbine when it comes to development decisions like these. They are intent on making everything on this game unable to kill you or hurt you. Pretty soon you are going to see orcs commit suicide when they see you. And the sad thing is, I am not even kidding when I say that.

But anyway, this leads me to the topic of this thread. My biggest annoyance on LOTRO is the pathetic enemies.

    Deeding...

The first time through to 85 was fine enough but having to go through it on every toon is a bit much and I really cant enjoy it anymore. It's to the point where I dont even level new toons anymore.

I enjoyed doing deeds back before they speeded up the leveling to an insane amount. It was a nice way to be productive while exploring Middle Earth and doing quests. And since you didn't out-level everything in seconds the combat was largely kept fun.

    But that was then.

Now I agree with you. It's a mindless boring chore and not at all fun.

For me, its the dozens of different kinds of barter tokens in game, Khuzdul tablets, Rusty dwarf tools, Lothlorien branches, golden leaves, bounder tokens, Marks, Seals, ect. its all too much.
I would just make Gold, silver, and copper THE currency for buying things in game
Same for me, & the variety of coins will go way pass the dozen as you keep leveling. It drives me nuts to have sometimes thousands of 1 kind of coin that i rarely use or will use no more on that alt but less than 100 coins in the kind of coin i need the most. The game need a serious reintegration of currency.

Actually, there is something you can do to make your attacks bypass their defense. Increase your guardian's & warden's agility.

Agility does absolutely nothing about bypassing defence. What you need to bypass defence is Finesse.

    LI's as loot.

Shouldn't happen. Mobs should only carry shards or fragments. But the worst about it is the inventory management. Ugh.

Also: why does the day only have 24 hours, of which many are allocated to other things than playing?

The lag is awful. It seems to come and go to degree, but it's definitely gotten worst over the years. So I'm with you on that.

I'd mark lag as a close second in my list of annoyances.

Aside from a few items people have already said (swift travel and deeds), I find it annoying that you can create enough alts for crafting mules that you never have to go to the AH to buy anything. This is a bonus to the people that do it but for those that don't have the time or the inclination to do the leveling it creates a huge problem with supply and demand. Which is probably a big problems with the inflation I've seen on the AH.

This may sound silly but if you have more items on the AH then as an example you wouldn't see a 100 stack of Skarn ore for 11G. The prices are just ridiculous.

I was complaining about this years ago.

I think they should have limited one craft per account or something like that. The economy on this game is pretty much dead, especially at lower levels because of this.

With every update, graphics are getting better, trees in Fangorn loo great compared to Fornost, NPC models look like they come from different planets (well men and elves) these days, expand the range of faces to allow players to select more contempoary heads than the five year old heads that look their age.

Graphics have never been a failing of this game. They have always done a superb job re-creating Middle Earth... at least aesthetically.

The negative threads! Have mercy, every thread seems to spiral out into something about a "lawsuit" or something else equally silly. At least this thread has the decency to advertise the negativity.

I also do not like the LI system, I find the AI to be primitive (especially those soldiers, WTH are they doing sometimes?!),and I do not understand (and therefore disapprove of) the algorithms used to determine the games results. Dumb it down for me devs, I'm not trying to split an atom here. When I finish a 10 hour day I just want to enjoy a cold one and immerse myself in the 7.1 surround sound-58" HD majesty that is Middle Earth Online. I'll think as much as I need to, just don't overdo it!

The thing that annoys me the most in this game is the way the mouse cursor automatically appears in your chat box after talking to an npc or interacting with anything.
You talk/use, then go to walk/run/ride off and you just type letters in the chat. So frustrating!
I know i can just click off the npc after chatting but some times your just zooming along and, well, yeah.
(i'm sure someone told me how to stop this but since ROR its been back).

    That's my only gripe.

    Definitely Draigoch....

No question for me... That Draigoch raid is the buggiest raid in the game. It's been 2 years and they STILL haven't fixed it. That is just unacceptable in an Mmo

    Blind invites

Don't like them, never accept them and especially not when the same player keeps sending invites after you have quietly declined or let the offer expire. However, if they would have the courtesy to ask first, I am always happy to join and help out.

...hate to say it, but if an annoyance rather than something of a higher level of frustration....then the annoyance would be the Forums. Not the forums itself as a site but rather 50% of the way the community conducts itself.

    In game HATES -

    Draigoch bugging again....(since his release)
Checking my mail then a chance of my camera wheel on mouse no longer zooms/retracts camera until a reboot. (since....ever, at least 2009)
Occasional random bug of not being able to see certain chars /em text one day and they mine, then its fine the next (Since Rohan, ticketed countless times)
The fixed flying bug - still sometimes randomly find myself flying (been around a while but not as long as other bugs)
