    Laila's Market... Hairstyles

So I just went into Laila's Market for the first time since I started playing again (at least 2 years), and I abolutely *love* the female hairstyles found on the NPCs, please put them on the market... maybe put a hairdresser in the Market. I'd pay at least 15 coins to buy one of the styles. <3

I don't really care that they look less... high quality than the ones we get in chargen... the styles are so much nicer, so that make up for the texture quality (or lack there of).

I think this is a really good idea. I like it. Never too much fluff!

Yes, the new NPC hairstyles are pretty. By a hairdresser you mean a barber or a post that sale whigs?
Is this Alternate Character Disorder? :

Either! Barber/hairdresser, or wigs on a poll, but if I had a say, having a small barber shop tucked in one of the somewhat empty corners would be my choice.

The wig idea is interesting, especially if it was usable in the wardrobe or shared storage. For tp I would expect it to be account wide, not per character. (I still haven't bought a warsteed cosmetic, it's just too unfair.) Having a barber in the shop with the style for a higher cost in silver could make a good money sink.

Well I didnt mean wearable wigs, I was talking about how you would see them in Market, but wigs would be interesting I think.

DDO, LOTRO's sister game, features custom hair styles in the Turbine Store. Unfortunately, each custom style applies to a single character, the store does not include a preview function, applying a new custom hairstyle destroys an old one, and the act of true reincarnation* destroys any custom hairstyle associated with a character. I suspect these major drawbacks seriously hinder sales, and that management at Turbine may have erroneously come to the conclusion that custom hair styles simply sell poorly. Turbine should release bound to account cosmetic hairstyles for both games that equip into cosmetic helmet slots. I would also like to see such hairstyles drop as treasure from festivals and dungeons/instances.

    * In DDO, upon reaching level 20, a character may reincarnate, essentially starting over, but the reborn character gains two beneficial traits based on his or her class in the previous life.

    I like this idea.

But: what about race restrictions though? Culturally specific or free-for-all? There can be an epic beard of Durin cosmetic, but of course that should not be equippable on an elf. There can be an epic High-Elven long hair style, but of course that should not be equippable on dwarves. What about gender restrictions, ought there be any? Perhaps this could potentially be done in a similar way to the dwarf "bare chest" cosmetic - different looks with different racial restrictions.

If someone says: "but it's only cosmetic appearances like wigs, anyone should be able to put them on!" - Keep in mind there is potentially a lot of implications to consider here... lest we unleash a horde of female elves wearing epic beards, hobbit dudes sporting shield-maiden hair, elf guys with trashy south-side-Bree-dumpster-diving hobo hair, etc etc... It may be amusing for five minutes but it's bound to spin way out of control. And I can totally picture trolling immature player types abusing these looks as much as possible just to annoy the immersion/lore enthusiasts. Imagine the lore rage on the forums then!

Just wanted to remind that we've got to consider the details and implications of these new cosmetic appearance items we hope to see. I really really hope that if new hair appearances are introduced, their different looks would come with corresponding racial restrictions. It would be great if each character race had a variety of its own.

As much as I like the currently unavailable NPC hairstyles, especially those in Rohan, I wouldn't spend mithril or TP on them. I'd gladly spend my in-game gold, but we've been asking for new barber styles for years with no result. But I do agree that more hairstyles would be great.

Honestly, since you can change your hairstyle anytime you want in lotro (dunno about ddo), having wigs would be rather silly. They already have the hairstyles Im talking about in the game, they just need to apply them to the PCs. And since they dont have any particular animations of their own (unlike ff14), All they would need to fix would be any sort of clipping issues.

Still hoping the devs will consider this... I think they would be a good seller.

    I would love it!
But I am not sure that it is so easy.
The NPCs do way less with their heads than you.. so the hair might be a little more complicated for PCs ..

Btw. Let the palyers deal with the copping issue .. If you want long hair don't use a cloak or live with the copping.
Withs bows and stuff you are used to that anyways *G*

Pretty sure you meant clipping... Wow had a good solution for hairstyles that were long, they pinned them to the body mesh (or something like that). So the long twintails on that one hairstyle on Draenei girls, while it didnt fly in the wind or anything, it also didnt clip through shoulders and armour when she moved.
