You are most welcome, I am so glad everyone enjoyed it. For you newcomers to the Coffee House, I am carrying on a proud tradition. When we started this place up long ago in beta, there was a gentleman named Talason who would periodically bring up topics and educate us and he called the things he did Edjumications. So I am simply carrying on with what he started. My "hobby" if you will, is military history, particularly The age of Napoleon, the Civil War, WWII, and WWI naval battles. For the past few years, every June 18th I would do a piece about Waterloo, in honor of the anniversary of the battle. I think they have been pretty well received, or else the folks here are really good at humoring me!
This spring sometime, I may be providing an answer to the question of How the building and evolution of dreadnaught battleships and battlecruisers in the 8 or so years before WWI made it almost a sure thing that there would be war between the great powers.

Howdy alles. Not much new here, though we did finally get our tickets for the Hobbit ordered. We were pleased because we managed to get a 22:30 showing at the local theater that wasn't in 3D and we had our own pick of the seats. Meanwhile I've been busy getting ready for Christmas (which is kind of a month-long gig in my case) and filling in our down hours with XIV and Wind Waker. Alditha's popping into LotRO from time to time but I haven't really had the interest yet.

Speaking of getting ready for the big "yule-tide" I have my first gift blurb all ready to go here:

    Flower Gift Box
The first of the christmas-oriented projects this year was less a gift itself and more a gift/package or the actual gift. We'd picked up a something for my folks back in Texas that was both fragile and not quite enough on its own so I figured to give them some fancy-ish packaging to spice it up a bit.

In this case I picked up a fairly inexpensive wooden box from any one of the half dozen stores in the area that sell them. The boxes themselves are just simple plywood from china meant to be painted on or spruced up in some way. In my case I burned a flower design my wife had come up with for a previous project into the lid. Then I stained it, treated it with tung oil, and lined it with some of the new fabric lining. The lining was the trickiest part of the whole thing since it turned out that rubber cement doesn't adhere too well to this stuff and trying to trim it after installing it was a messy business of bother. There isn't enough structure to the lining for it to cut cleanly under really any circumstance which I could devise. Not after it was installed anyway.

Still, the box came together in a few days and to round the whole thing out we filled all the empty space with an appropriately seasonal "packing material."

So tomorrow I can wrap this thing up and get it in the mail and just maybe it'll get down to Texas is a time. Maybe.

And Garaf so is that box!!

Slammy you are right, its the passing of a very great man. I like the new story I heard on the way home from work where a gentleman from South Africa said we should remember to celebrate what he accomplished and continue to build on his work.

The surly dwarf enters the coffeehouse... "hmmm, what's that I smelll..." Shortbread and fresh gingerbread! Yumm!!!

The dworf is suddenly much less surly!

Looking forward to some Hobbit action this weekend! Hope all are well. It's been a frantic few weeks for me, so sorry haven't popped by. Wilson shortbread, gingerbread cake with whipped cream, eggnog (and maybe a little rum?), for everyone!

And tonight popcorn and a movie!

    Gingerbread?? Yum!!!

Garaf has been experimenting with ginger snaps lately and I have been quite happy to taste-test for him.

Otherwise, work's been busy, though we got some surprise end-of-year money to buy some new furniture with (a few shelves and a nice rug for our storytime room) which is always nice! I'm also starting to get Christmas cards from people... and realizing I need to send some back! Ack! Is it really the 13th already?

Hmm, what else? Oh, I managed to perma-kill one of my D&D players' characters, a poor cleric who neglected to heal himself between fights and got one-shotted when a Hook Horror ambushed him. Thankfully it looks like he's going to get resurrected! Garaf and I did go to see the Hobbit last night, but I won't say anything until a few more people here have seen it - don't want to ruin the experience for anybody.

Wow, six days and nobody had anything to say. Well, I am in my "Refuse to let the Landroval Coffee House Die" mode so bumpity bump bump. I just don't want to be the one who has to turn the lights out the last time.

    Yep,..that's a long stretch, Doc !

I guess 'tis the season! I know I've been busy.

Tonight I go see The Hobbit:The Desolation of Smmmooouuugggg". So looking forward to that.

My wife's Aunt is coming to town so I am pretty sure I will be needed to entertain and help show her around the city tomorrow, which means sadly,..I won't make it for DDO
If I do,..it won't be till late,..a late pop in.

I got s cool permanent +1to SPOT for Dels character when I see her though!
The airship is schnazzy look'in. I wanna fly it around on a joyride through Stormreach!

the wife and aunt will pop a bus to Washington DC for the weekend,..so I will be around,.catch up on some gaming maybe ,..and various wishlists.

    Have a happy all!
For those in the Snow,..be safe!

We got a good couple of inches of snow overnight, but thankfully my commute is only a few blocks! Whew. Cold though.

What did you think of the Hobbit, Welby? Have fun with your Aunt-in-Law, in any case.

I am really sick of eating ginger snaps now, but Garaf has finally settled on a recipe.

    Happy Friday Landrovalingas!

Good morning folks! Popping by the coffeehouse to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! Hope today is a wonderful day for you wherever you are and with whomever you are able to spend time with. We are not visiting my folks this year, so a quiet family Christmas here at home. I kind of like it that way.

I got a package of TimTams, and expect to be teaching the kids how to do a proper TimTam Slam shortly!

    Merry Christmas to you all!

A little cheerful something for the Coffee House for Christmas. I typically have three potted geraniums on the porch during the summer, and they if survive long enough they come inside just before the first frost.

This year's crop is proving particularly vivacious. In fact, they seem to be very merry this morning...

Merry Christmas to all the Coffee House folks. And a happy and healthy New Year.

    Jadzi, those are lovely flowers.

Nothing much going on here, its snowy and very cold. Getting ready to marinate some chicken and of course watch the Dr. Who Christmas Special in about 4 hours. Goodbye to Matt Smith's doctor, and welcome to Peter Capaldi's doctor.

Take care everyone, and please be safe.

Jadzi, I have some geraniums too that were blooming until last month, but they have since succumbed to the cold. Yours look gorgeous!!

Bumpity bump, for the Coffee House that never ends!

Haven't been around on the forums or in game for that matter of late. I've been fighting for my health insurance coverage since September of this year when it was terminated and have gloriously failed so far. I have been very ill and am unable to even go to a doctor or an emergency room due to this.

I hope everyone is well and had a fantastic Christmas and will also have a marvelous New Year's!

Now on a political note since I'm seriously disillusioned and utterly gobsmacked, a bit of video!
