    Grudges against NPCs

Anyone else have a grudge against certain NPCs?

I only have one, in all honesty. The Gaunt Men in the Lone Lands. They killed me over and over on my first character through, while I tried to collect three sigils. Now, if I'm passing, I always drop in and kill a few, they've earned it.

Just me, or anyone else have an NPC or NPC class they are holding a grudge for?

Lalia, Sarah Oakheart, Lalia, Pengail, Lalia, Lalia, Grodbog Spitters, Lalia and Lalia.

Edit: Oh, and the Hobbits of Hoarhallow. They stun and disarm more than any NPC in the game. Dunlendings have nothing on them.

Oh god I have sworn at Sara Oakheart so many times it is not funny. That old horrid woman. I wanted to strangle her through the game to many times for me to be sane and healthy in the mind. You can imagine my hatred when I found out her true identity for the first time.

I'll have to second that, Farmers and Gardeners of Ratville are not to be trifled with.

    Oh so much this.

Add the suicidal version of Legolas in Vol 1 Book 4 Ch 8.

My warden hates Lorniel for Vol 1 Book 7 Ch 8.

There are probably a few other escort NPCs I am repressing.

If you are counting critters, then definitely add Baugarch. I think he single handedly cost me the undying title on about 5 of my characters.

--For anyone who has never met him, or has successfully suppressed the memory. Out in Chetwood, there are a bunch of level 7-8 quests and appropriate villains, and Baugarch. The level 15 Elite warg who occasionally turns up and eats you. My loremaster still has nightmares.

Whoever put him there is both evil and brilliant. If they've nerfed him down to a Signature, Booooo! That was a rite of passage, and going back at level 20 or so and blowing him to bits was disturbingly satisfying.

Everyone in Annuminas. I was there one day to complete a deed, and saw an Angmarim standing over the dead body of a ranger and laughing like it was the funniest thing he'd ever seen. I /slapped him and proceeded to set his robes on fire.

the hytbold npc in eaworth that gives the resupplying he line and beacon of eaworth quests. i could almost imagine him laughing at me with his fellow NPCs while i climbed, ran and jumped.
the only thing i could do against him after that was to /slap and /fishslap him.

Sara Oakheart and Lorniel. I've done that Lorniel instance several time on different characters (plus multiple times to help out kin members), and it shall always remain irritating how she just keeps. walking. into. the AoE attacks.

I assume no one mentioned Mordrambor because that one's too easy. Laerdan has to be high up on the list if only because he seems to be the expert at doing stupid things. While Lalia is a well-hated escortee, Pengail was the one for me that I wanted to go back and kill myself.

Totally agree here. I've hated that old biddy from the moment I first went through that instance, and so very much want to shut her up in her chest and leave her there, or just slam the prison door in her face! I so very much hate escorting her WALKING hiny through that instance! And it doesn't get any better when you see her again in Garth Argarwen, either.

Add me to this list, too. My roommate hates her especially. It is very frustrating trying to solo that instance since she won't heal herself and runs right in the middle of the fray!

*grins* yep--been eaten by him multiple times as well Though I admit I take him as a challenge on many of my entry level toons, just to see how low of a level I can be and take him on. Once, I took a young hunter through there I think on Dwarrowdelf and challenged him and was doing fairly well, holding my own, until another Baugarch spawned right behind me WHILE I was still fighting the first one! Yeah-I gave up and ran like h***, screaming the whole way.......there was a period there for a while where I saw two of them together fairly often. Haven't really been over there recently, though, to see if that bug has been corrected.

    LOL

I detest Toki Whitebeard in the Trollshaws--you know, the dwarf up with the cave claws? He is SUCH a pain to protect because he is so low level and insists on throwing himself right in the fray, and the cave claws must either hate him too or they have a taste for dwarf because they head right for him! I can be 20 levels higher than that quest and STILL have trouble with it because he dies so easily! I just want to tie him up and drop him behind a rock so I can take care of the cave claws myself!

I also really despise Himloc Grouse, I think his name is, in Staddle. Talk about being rude! And the elves in Echad Dunann in Eregion. They are so extremely snooty and snobbish when you go to them to sell stuff and repair your gear, like you are ants compared them them and they can't believe your audacity in deigning to actually speak to them, who are so superior to you. I seriously would love to drop them in the pond with the Watcher!

As for bad guys, I hate doing the quest up in Trestlebridge to take out the tarkrip defiler down in Nan Wathren and usually skip it.

We were having this very same conversation in kinchat the other evening. The main contenders were Lalia, Sarah Oakheart and all the Rangers in Evendim (who should learn to do their own work!) Lorniel was also mentioned a few times too as well as the epic quest with Legolas from Rivendell (before they changed it) when he used to run off and aggro EVERYTHING in the whole instance!(...well ok maybe not quite everything but you know what I mean)

Pengail in the Weather Hills ! Will aggro absolutely every single goblin and warg he can find - and he finds many, dies in a few hits, never gives you a chance to save him. I now free him just to watch him die ... again.

Any DEER. Yes, that's right: Deer!

After having been killed (as the total NOOB that I was) by the Attack-Deer-from-Hades-Lowest-Plane in the Trollshaws all those many, many, many (very many...) years ago, I have vowed to eradicate all non-placid forest-creature DEER -- especially the male ones.

You would have thought that I'd have learned what to expect from Evendim back in the golden years of 2008, but I just could not wrap my brain around the idea that I was being thrashed mercilessly by deer! Everyone likes deer, right? Bambi and all that? I felt like I was being personally targetted by all deer in a 5 mile radius. Charge! *Stun*! Whack! ...death. I was so shocked that I totally forgot how to play my character -- an LM even! Well, it tought me a few things, like "Don't forget to load-up on Vitality too!" But also to view everything that moves as a threat.

Still, I will forever be traumatized by simple bloody DEER! And they must ALL DIE!!!

Lalia.... I mean, come on! Who goes back for their cloak when running from zombies? I just trigger the quest to watch her die horribly again and again now.

Gurvand got a great deal of my hatred. I was trying to kill him for years with various groups, and all he would do was talk in a indecipherable mumble, punt everyone off the cliff, or suicide if we got even remotely close. When I finally did manage to kill his ugly mutated butt I promptly hung his head in my house so that it was the first thing you saw walking in the door.

Voz is now earning a great deal of my wrath, too. I could swear the he intentionally singles me out and follows me, shouting at all his signature ranked and higher buddies to come join in. Really wanting to impale his ugly head on a pike and mount that on my horse.

And add to this list any NPC that absolutely MUST survive the quest. And then either stands there crying while they get their butt attacked or always runs off to fight another group of mobs other than the ones within my Champ's AoE radius.

LOL! I understand completely, though. I remember when I took my very first toon into the cellar way back in Archet and encountered the spiders for the first time--got mobbed and tried to fun back out the door but was stuck and died horribly. I was arachnophobic for years after that one!

Oh, and I absolutely detest ALL NPCs in Garth Argarwen! ESPECIALLY Ivan Bloodhand!

Baugarch and Sara Oakheart. Hands down. Every now and then ol' Baug gets a twin. I took on Baug once and killed him ... only to be eaten by his twin. I can put up with Lalia. She's a ditzy hobbit in her 'tweens. 'Nary a bit of hobbit-sense in her while in the Downs.

Bonny Thatcher? She's not so bad. She has a fixed patrol. Besides, you can go outside and talk to a static supplier if you don't see Bonny and don't want to wait for her to pass by.

Without a doubt, for me it is Lalia. I was determined that I WOULD safely rescue her from the Barrow Downs! It even got to point where I would dream of Lalia. My favourite was where I staked her out on the downs and sat chatting with the Barrowwights and petting the Barghests as we all watched her screaming and writhing as she was devoured alive by Barrowcrawlers. MWUAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

Ahem, yes well ............ I was a nice little Gentlehobbit before I met her!

Laila, Lorniel, Sara Oakheart..... and Dirk Hawthorne. That annoying brigand in Bree-land surrounded by adds has caused more than one of my toons to have an early death. I have been tempted to tell Adso to protect his own &*(&$*# trade routes.
