To be fair, Turbine announced September 5, 2012 as the release date for Riders of Rohan.

Perhaps the original poster is trying to gauge whether players expect a similar delay for Helm's Deep.

To be equally fair, that is the only Xpac Turbine has delayed, and we were told well over a month in Advance that would be the case.

LOL, so Sapience is suggesting it actually won't be Nov. 18th, given the recent commitments Turbine has broken I'm guessing?

However I disagree, I believe they need to hit Nov. 18th., or lose significant sales.

I don't believe 11/18 was picked because the expansion will be ready (it won't), I believe it was picked because if they release any later, folks will have spent their discretionary budgets on other holiday purchases/x-mas shopping and won't afford a more expensive luxury item for themselves.

So they picked the last day feasible before Black Friday and staff having Thanksgiving off.

Whomever mentioned making adjustments per beta feedback, in the past, game breaking things found during beta were not resolved then, and in some cases not even acknowledged, until well after release. My perception is Turbine doesn't use beta to test anything, but simply showcase/promote new content. The true beta test is between when things go live and the first patch. If you've participated in prior betas, you can see this in the beta notes, where changes are usually tweaks to newly implemented things, rather than results of user feedback, and in the forum posts after release, when the general populace complains about the same issues that users reported during the beta. You find hopeful beta testers demoralized by the process, as it appears the time they invest in reporting things doesn't get acted on, which carries over in the forums and in game when you suggest people /bug something they discover but their reaction is, "why bother?", based on prior experience.

No idea where you got that from. I'm suggesting no such thing. I was simply pointing out that we did announce a release date. There seem to be a good many people who somehow managed to miss it (based on my PMs asking when we'd announce a release date).

I think it will be when they have already announced. If they push it back to improve the quality, that is a massive bonus in my book. The only way the players lose in this scenario is if the game comes out buggy. We still have large amounts of content to enjoy while they squash bugs.

Is this the appropriate venue to derail the topic into things Turbine has announced/said that have subsequently been reneged upon, not met, or otherwise dropped? There are plenty of other threads covering those, and it's not in my interest, nor, in my opinion, the health of the communities', to focus on such.

As I said, timing of market forces causes me to believe they will have to release then, regardless of status/announcements.

The date is beeing announced here: https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthr...-November-18th! & you even got our CM reply confirming it. Why do you think they are lieing & will be another date than announced. Unless something out of control of Turbines happen (Example: a tornado destroy turbines building, a power outage cut the electricity of whole Boston, their internet server provider decide to go akward again & cut them the conection) i beleive the date of relese will be what they announced.

I'm excited about Helm's Deep, but if they have to delay it then I support them 100%. I've burnt myself too many times since the early 90s buying PC games that should have been delayed.

Unless there's something fundamentally and majorly game-breaking, I don't see any reason to delay it. Chances are we'll need a few updates to balance classes a bit, given the scale of the class changes, and I expect a number of bugs will make it through to live, along with some new ones not discovered in beta. These can all be addressed in hotfixes, patches and updates. An MMO is always, to some degree, a work in progress.

Exactly! If the night before release they post a last minute message that say: "OH Wow! Some how we caught a virus that if you log after release your pc memory will get fried. So we are not releasing HD yet. We need 1 week to purge the system." I will reply: "Take the whole month, take your time to make it right & glad that you prevent this to happen even if you notice on the last minute..."

this guy did it, just so he could make an internet prediction.

Or someone from Turbine read this and thought it would make a great excuse since there was bad weather all over the place yesterday.

In a company that heavily cuts budget in development and IT infrastructure always something unexpected can happen. Maybe too many bugs or the the absence of a properly configured emergency system lead to a delay. You never know...

Not that its the end of the world..but as many MMOs as I've played for 13 years I can't recall when they have missed their own release dates for expansions.

You do know they aren't going to pull the game down in the middle of the day, right?

Which means sometime tonight if they are going to launch expansion at all today.

Um. Wrong. The plan was to pull the plug in the early part and running into the middle of the work day US as it was.
