    Gear scales with lvl?!

Please Turbine, reconsider introducing such items into the game.

I don't mind some copy-paste from other MMOs here and there, but if you plan on introducing things from other MMOs, could you at least consider introducing the ones worth introducing? Rift housing perhaps? Rift talent trees? World of Warcraft battlegrounds? Some Horizons crafting? Some Shadowbane character creation options? Of all the good things other MMOs have on display you pick the 'gear which scales with lvl'.

This feature and this feature alone made WoW Battlegrounds at lower lvl slowly bleed to death. It completely destroyed the WoW economy. Every piece of armour became absolete as they introduced full sets of heritage items or whatever the term was.

Just to clear things up: my request is to limit the "scales with level" gear to this one XP item and that one XP item alone. Please do not introduce full sets of such scaling items.

You can't destroy something that isn't there. I like the mechanic. Better than a used slot with no stats like the old items that granted XP boni.

I think it's ok in this case.

The cloak is competitive but not OP on level. The addition of 25% xp to a different slot is very nice and having stats on the same item is much better.

Following this they can now add stats to a pocket item for the next xpac and then after that, well we'll be close enough to Mordor that it won't have a great impact.

I agree that equipment that scales to level is a really bad idea. Kind of makes other equipment pointless until you get to the cap.
Freeps: Venusia (Guardian), Silya (RK), Dwayr (Champion), Nissys (Captain), Filodon (Burgler), Tyveil (Lore-master)
Creeps: Venusiel (R7 Weaver), Tyveilakh (R5 Warleader)

Glad to finally see the xp bonus moving to a useful slot! Sure the pocket item while leveling isn't a big deal, but it also kind of sucked never using one or picking it a quest reward just because I didn't want to un-slot my xp stone. Since the xp bonus won't be active past lvl 85, I'm sure I'll start swapping out cloaks then. Stopping to pry a few more scales off of Driagoch leveling alts through 75+ would just be silly. Be nice if those were put in the skirmish camp for barter after HD goes live. As for lower levels, there's no overwhelmingly awesome cloak I care about equipping and I have a two guild tailors. I suspect that the xp stones will still be usable and if a player wanted to use that instead of a cloak the option will be there.

If it's the loss of an armour slot we wish to prevent, they may as well make it a skill which can be toggled. Everybody happy. But an actual armour piece? May as well remove cloaks from tailors, skirmish camps, ... If it's for the cosmetic value it can be added to the wardrobe.

Improving and adding features. Most definately. Adding feature which may probably make other features absolete? Bad idea.

They do not have the ability to remove skills as we level. Only change them by making improved versions available to us. This would take more tech work.

I strongly disagree with the OP. I am glad they finally added an XP item with scaling stats. Now I don't feel like I'm making a trade-off between a stated item and one with an XP boost. Of course, I will likely still use the pocket item in conjunction, but this is a nice bonus (with a very nice cosmetic).

I would hope that the stats scale past 85, leaving the XP bonus at 0% then.

I'm not arguing against the "xp item with stats", I'm asking for this feature to be limited to that item and that item alone. That slippery slope so many people warned about in the past? This item is just like it. If they manage to get it to work on one item they may soon introduce more, to the point where gear becomes absolete due to everyone wearing a complete set of armour which will scale with your lvl.

Ugh, let it rest I guess. Perhaps my scepticism is ill- or misplaced, whatever the English term may be.

Just because it scales does not mean it's any good. Countless cloaks out there at all levels will be better. The only difference is the +xp bonus. And I'll be honest here, an xp bonus is useless, I've purchased 4 XP disablers so far.

The first part is certainly true. The stats are useless for anyone looking at tanking really and not hard to beat for anyone looking to specialise in their role (including dps).

What it is is a great leveling item, with good damage stats and a little survivability thrown in, which complements the idea of an xp boost well.
I have rolled a new power leveling toon (roleplaying as a Rohirrim getting ready to defend his people) and it works great there. For my completionist/chill out toons I can use disablers. Basically more options are nearly always better.

It is also great for motivating me to finish leveling toons I have lost a little interest in but must finish in time for the new crafting tier.
