9/11 1973. We ousted Salvador Allende from power in Chile. He was the "democratically elected" president of a socialist government that was being influenced by the soviets. We backed his self appointed Commander-in-Chief, Augusto Pinochet, in his rise to power in a coup. Pinochet then went after the communist and socialist leaders after he came to power. He committed numerous human rights violations and was generally considered to be a pretty nasty guy. But so was Patton to his enemies. Chile soon had the best economy in South America and became a beacon of capitalism in the South during the hottest period of the cold war. Why don't we find the dates of the largest mass killings of the Khmer Rouge, Mao Zedong, and Joseph Stalin and make sure they get brought up as well? Its not as fun for the left when the real mass murders get exposed.
Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure. Do not shrink from the task so that others may feel secure, come forth and show your quality and unknowingly you will give others courage to do so as well.
