    Helms deep launch/beta?

With beta server down, will beta be up soon? Or after the Artwork is finished?

Where have you seen this information? I haven't heard or seen anything, although that does seem like an appropriate date.

    1. When the beta is ready to start, you'll get an email inviting you. Or you won't.

    2. If you do get an invitation, you keep it secret. You will be under an NDA which you *must not break,* lest you be banned from future betas and possibly from the game.

    3. If you get an invitation, at some point you will be able to see the Bullroarer forum, which will be the only place to post anything about the beta. You'll be encouraged to
post bug reports and other observations about the beta on the beta forums.

    4. If you don't get an invitation, you will have to wait until open beta (assuming there is one, which is moderately likely) or till launch.

In an email that arrived literally an hour and a half ago with an invite, keep one eye on your inbox

Will they have a separate area for the beta forums, so things that are in beta stay in beta?

Geez... I really need to read all of the previous posts, especially djheydt's

In the past, they have done a closed beta, then perhaps an open one. There is a forum for all beta testing stuff on the Bullroarer server, and while the beta is under NDA it is only visible to those in the beta. If you get into the beta you will have access to the forum, and you should also get an email.

The internet likes to eat beta invite emails. Check for the bullroarer forums. If you can read them you are in beta.

They should have sent it to me instead. I would be happy to accept.

Yes, but ... they may not be up yet. If you get an invitation by email, it will probably say something like "Bullroarer goes live at [time] [date]," please
join us for a stress test," and will also provide a link to the beta forums.

BUT if your email gets lost, you just have to keep eyeing the forums (in the past, Bullroarer has been at the bottom of the list of worlds forums, though
that doesn't guarantee it will be this time), and if at some point you see the beta forums there, why, then, you're in.

If you are looking for, but have not seen a beta invite e-mail, be sure to check your spam/junk folder. Some systems tend to put e-mails from Turbine there.

If you find that you are in beta, even without seeing the e-mail, (e.g. by finding that you can see a set of beta forums), a good move would be to find and read the NDA so that you know the rules you're operating under.

Im sure we will all get an invite sooner or later. At least this sounds like the ball is rolling and expac release date will soon be announced.

There is indeed a significantly large new update to the Bullroarer client. The server says it's accepting logins from accounts with the roles HELM_PRESS and HELM_BETA. (This information is available to anyone who has the client installed, it's not secret.)

This strongly suggests closed beta testing will begin on Bullroarer soon, if it hasn't begun already. Turbine might also be giving "first look" tours to media sites.

In previous years, additional beta keys have been given to fan sites and media sites to distribute. So if you're interested in testing, keep your eyes open!

just remember, if you do get in to the beta, while under NDA it's exactly like fight club: you don't talk about it.

Screenshots of the email are against the NDA, So is telling people you were accepted, but declined!

The best thing to do is check your email and keep it quiet... For the LAST beta, once I told people after the NDA was lifted, they kept asking me what was in it... It got to the point where I almost wished the NDA wasn't lifted as I could do what I wanted on the beta and not what they wanted me to find out for them...

With RoR launch, the Beta forums were at the top of the forum lists, if I remember correctly. So well, if you can see them in a week or two or three, you're in Or if you get that e-mail, of course.

I highly doubt the BR beta forums will just magically appear and you'll know you're in beta...

In the past, we have received an email with a CODE to put into myaccount.turbine.com in the "activate product key" section

but yes, it should start soon if it hasn't already, the helms deep expac has been on bullroarer for a couple weeks now, that is public knowledge btw.

I have been invited to the beta (hope thats ok to say that here)
No, it isn't. It breaks the NDA that is undoubtedly referenced in the email you received. You need to post in the Beta Forums. Depending on when the Beta starts, they may or may not be up yet. If they are, they will probably be visible at the top of the regular forums.

I would recommend deleting your post.

Didn't work like that for me the last couple of times (Rohan and, IIRC Isengard): I only got an e-mail telling me I was in for the Beta. I may even have discovered I was in for one of the Beta phases by discovering the BR forum when I logged onto the forum...

Well, that was exactly how I found out I had been invited to the Riders of Rohan beta, and no code was needed for that, so your doubt is somewhat misplaced.

people need to remember that closed beta is not a preveiw of whats to come. you really should be going on there to bug test and submit feedback. if your on there just for a peak or to leak stuff to your freinds, your not doing anything useful for lotro. people must remember that BR is for testing and potentially whole sections will not come out on live servers.

in the light of huge class revamps too, I suspect to see some horribly leaking information of people crying nurf that they are leaving lotro because what they have seen. they must remember this isn't the finished product and could change dramatically. and spoiling it for other people is unfair to there experiance of the game too. let other people come to there own conclusions. go in with an open mind and try to look at the end product. don't marry a skill/style as you'll probably be let down at the end...

This is why I think the random invites to closed beta are a bad idea. Of those random invites, probably 10% will never even know they had the invite, and of the remaining 90%, probably a further 10% will only log in once. Further, I reckon 40% of the remaining will only log in to play the new content and get an early preview instead of submitting bug reports. Leaving about 40% that do what the beta server is actually meant for.

Therefore, there are many more bugs leftover when an open beta starts, if there even is one, and more invites go out.

I received an email invite to a Helms Deep beta too but, my email client is calling BS on it and marked it as a possible scam. Mousing over all of the links, I have to admit I'm a bit skeptical too as they all link back to http://cl.s6.exct.net/ which doesn't sound like http://www.lotro.com to me. Is anyone familiar with that website domain before I click into some malicious webpage scripts? Did anyone else's email link to that domain?
