(No, not that Max playing sounds - silly!).
In the userpreferences file there is an entry "MaxPlayingSounds=[some number]" in the "[Sound]" section.
Mine is set at 28, I suppose that's the default value because I have never done anything to change it. My playback device is the motherboard integrated Realtek HD audio, and I use the default playback device setting of "Generic Software".
However, I have seen some suggested settings putting this value as high as 64.
Anyone knows if a higher setting works (i.e. enables you to play more sounds simultaneously)? And, if it does, are there any side effects (aside from probably eating up more processor cycles and memory)?
