Chicken Race, August 11 at 3 p.m. server time

To celebrate the end of the summer and to liven things up, I'm going to put on a chicken race from the Shire to the gates of Isengard! Yes! You must make it past the trolls.

First chicken to reach the finish line will win.

Grand prize: First Age Symbol (level 85).
Other prizes will be determined. (to be updated)
    Donations are welcome gladly.

Here is the information about how to play as a chicken. You will need to finish the intro quest to be able to play the other sessions. I suggest selecting the Trollshaws session or one of the longest play session for the race.

Escorts, helpers, guards, singers, and jokers are welcome.

If you have any additional questions, please send me an in-game mail or post in the forums.

Sounds great! I won't be able to make it myself, but I've let Second Breakfast know about the race.

Best of luck to all the chickens!

Hiya Guys! The photo is where the finish line will be! I'll be standing here cheering the chickens on.

Location: The Tower of Orthanc, 79.2S, 2.1W (Dunland, Nan Curunir Area)

I have already collected some nice prizes for the top finishers:

    1. Grand Prize: First Age Symbol (level 85)
    2. First Finisher: A choice of: Draigoch Cloak (three scales or a finished cloak), Riddermark Crystal of Remembrance, Three Riddermark Crystals, or 500G.
    3. Second Finisher: Will choose from the prizes being offered after the first finisher made his/her selection.
    4. Third Finisher: Will choose from the prizes after the first/second finisher made his/her selections.
    5. Fifth Finisher: will get the remaining prize.

All of the winners will also be given an option for a personal appointment at my vault. I have the entire collection of maps (including Moria) and the entire collection of fortunes so I can help finish the deeds for unique titles.

See you on Sunday! 3 p.m. Server time!

    Chickens rule!

    kisses and love,

    Update:

One generous player donated to the prize pool: Three keys, three mooncandes, and four riddermark crystals.

For the new additions, each winner will have first pick from the new additions until the prizes run out.

    Hiya guys

Got several questions about the race:

As I mentioned in my initial post, you are welcome to have guards, helpers, dancers, singers, jokers, and cute hobbits while racing as a chicken from Sandson's Farm (in the Shire) to the finish line (spot?)

I will be present at Sandson's Farm and I plan to take several screenshots of the chickens prior to the start time (3 p.m. Eastern time, 2 p.m. Central time, noon, pacific time). I will also be taking a screenshot of the chickens in Isen. So be sure to show up in time so I can take down your name before you start the chicken session play.

Once the chickens are ready, I will be setting off a firecracker to indicate the start of the race.

Best of luck to you, chickens.

    - kisses and love,

    Ve

p.s. One generous player donated 100g to the prize pool! Thank you!

Participants: Ulefair, Pinkfluffyanarchist, Pontin, Babbitz, Abbatoir, Alistel, Winterize, Menadore, Araff, Desertrose, Arcarion, Gerred, Baelas, Leeanne, Darbius, Vethlo, and MacLean! For a total of 17 CHICKEN PARTICIPANTS!

It is estimated that 50-60 players came out to help escort the chickens. Thank you all who volunteered their time in escorting the chickens all the way from the Shire to the Gate of Isengard, past the trolls! Truly, this is a great community.

Thank you all who submitted regular Chicken reports via glff and via chickenglff. Thank you all who kept tabs on the chickens with 1 morale and their locations.

Our first winner, Gerred, made to the finish line with a time of 1:22.

Our last winner, Daribus, arrived with a time of 2:18.

    Winners:
Grand Winner: Gerred. (Awarded: Three mooncandles, a FA symbol, and 100g).
First: Araff (3 Draigoch Cloak & keys)
Second: Vehltho (4 crystals and 500g)
Third: Darbius (Riddermark Crystal of Rembrance & 100g)
    Fourth: Alistel (3 crystals & 50g)

Poor Alistel got squished by a troll 100 feet away from the finish line! Poor Alistel!

Winners, feel free to make an appointment with me at my vault for the map deeds and fortune deeds. Send me an in-game mail.

Thank you all for making this chicken race event a fantastic one.

    kisses and love

    - Ve

Thanks to Ve and everyone else involved for a great event!

If you do this again, perhaps you could do a chicken run rather than a race. In the run the chickens try to stay together as much as possible and the run stops periodically to allow stragglers to catch up (and for screen shots). Having the chickens closer together makes it easier for the escorts to protect them and hopefully a lot more will make it through to Isengard.

LOL I have to apologise that I didn't believe that this actually happened!

Looks like a lot of fun, I'll have to get my butt to the shire and try it out!!

Any chance for chicken fights with those chickens in Combe?

It's a lot more sporting at level 1.
