Thank you, Kalmo
Thanks for this, I appreciate it.
I had tried to hotlink the LOTRO image here of the hobbit into it and it keeps as a gray icon...any ideas? (The avatar I use here.)
This generator is awesome and I'm just about done creating mine, but I was wondering if it was possible to add in an upload feature for the char image instead of just a url link. I'm sure that the problem BlueScion has run into will start to become more prevalent as websites start to switch over to secured http, which isn't supported by your own scripting. Just a thought to upload our own images without having to link to an 'outside' source.
The image upload would be nice, since I have no clue where to put my image to link it. The image I have on my GP site doesn't show up either if I use the GP setting for the signature. Any help would be appreciated.
Ok, disregard the last post I sent, got it figured out, now just have to be able to get the signature to work in the forums. As you can tell I'm not a computer person.
Some sites don't allow remote image linking, i think drop box is one of them, it's for storing files for downloading, not remote linking.
You need to use either your a web host with image linking enabled or a dedicated image site like photobucket or imageshack etc and use the direct links they provide.

Got it figured out, great program!! Thank you.
http://www.w3schools.com/jsref/dom_obj_fileupload.asp) in it. Don't forget to limit what people can upload to only image file types and (I'm not sure if this can be done with the html upload object), if possible, to only 1 file.
This may end up being too heavy on your end without some major coding time and garbage collection (to remove pictures after they are no longer needed), so maybe my initial zeal was ill-conceived and I'm sorry for that.
You have to have a character on your roster in GuildPortal. If you do, go to the roster link of your site, click to edit your character, expand the pop-up page so that you can see the whole link. At the end of the link will be 'CharId=' followed by a number. That number is your character ID.
Sorry to bother, but I cannot seem to get my signature to appear as it should, how do I code it into the signature edit area properly? Should I have it saved on a website before linking it (that's what I did).
Also, I don't understand how to find my character's ID, I did read the instructions below the Generator.
Thanks for your time,
Most don't have a GP account. In which case u need to copy the image itself and upload it as u already did. Though the one u have now looks a bit truncated And looking through the html code it seams ok. Maybe u got hold of the thumbnail link. So try this code instead:
Please feel free to ask again if u are stuck still.HTML Code:

Yes, I used the first Thumbnails option; the website only gave me Forum thumbnail, hotlink, and website thumbnail options - which option should I have taken?
Thanks, I will look through this thread for the GP instructions and I applied the code you suggested, it works (as you can see). (^-^)
And how to you upload it on a server?? I mean, i can't find it...
First u need to save the image to ur own PC, which is explained on the generator page. Then u must choose an image host that allow linking to the image. Could be Photobucket or Imageshack. U have to make a free account on whichever site u choose. Then follow their instructions on how to upload the image to their site. And they will also provide u with a link to the image which u can use here on the forum.
Don't hesitate to ask again if u still are stuck or should get stuck again at some point.
Thank you for this great signature Creator!
Glad u like it
Notice that I/we can't see your sig because your url doesn't work. Seams the number in the url is randomly generated each time u view the image. And I can't see any way around it on the image host u have chosen. They only offer a link to the page showing the image. I'm afraid you'll have to find another host that allow linking directly to the image.
