    Character Web API

    Hello all,

With the new forum I was wondering if the Web Api (Lotro Lorebook) has been completely wiped. I asked for an API key a while back, but never got a response.

    Can anyone clarify?

All of the game related features worked off of a replica of the game database which has been removed. I do not know the particulars of why their implementation failed (it became inaccurate and was apparently causing a significant load on the source database) but they are not the first company that I have seen face such problems and solve it by simply eliminating the replica and any features it allowed. Since none of the services supported by the replica generated any direct income and the incorrectly implemented replica impacted game performance, it is highly unlikely that Turbine executives will be convinced to attempt this again - doing it right can be fairly expensive.

    Thumbs up Dang...

I've been looking and came across this: http://lotroarmory.dresselhaus.biz/

But it appears to be out of date. Perhaps it is just housing old data now?

Sorry for ressing an old thread, but it's not THAT old. Was hoping to find some kind of REST api for lotro.

I just used that site to look up a character that I made earlier this evening (have yet to even log her in) and it found her. I guess I'll keep the site bookmarked until it doesn't work anymore. I cleared out 5 or 6 links from my lotro favorites already; either they hadn't been updated since Mirkwood, they had different content than what I bookmarked it for, or it was completely missing/shut down.

Oops I did not see this thread until now. I am the creator of http://lotroarmory.dresselhaus.biz and I am sorry that it is not up to date some time (or does not even work like just now).

The problem is that the site gets its data directly from the data.lotro.com-API, if this API is not accessable, there is no other way to get actual data from LORTO (as far as I know). The second problem is that obviously the priority to keep the API online and alive is not very high at Turbine, so they disabled it at the time the Helms Deep-release was published and did not re-enable it so far. I also submitted a support-ticket, but nobody can tell me the date the API will be available.

So I can do nothing but waiting for the time the API is back at this moment.
If you are interested in using the LOTROArmory, perhaps you may want to submit a support-ticket to turbine to show them that there are also some people who want to use this feature.

I'd say, it's related to the power failure in the data center one day before HD's launch.

There's a post from Sapience about lotteries. As far as I know, the old mylotro site and the lotteries got their data also from the API server data.lotro.com.

I do not have an ETA for you.
So, let's hope, they bring the data server back online soon.
Wer Hilfe will, muss Informationen liefern.
