    New forums too big for screen

    I'm having to scroll from left to right in order to read posts. About 1 1/2" of the forum are missing from the right hand side of the screen. It seems like it is designed for a 16" monitor, but mine is only 14". Is there anyway I can resize the forum so that it fits into my 14" monitor screen like the old forums did?

    I also noticed that while now "fluid layout", the minimum width is quite a bit wider than the old layout, which I don't like because I never have my browser fullscreen these days, because most web content just looks awfull at 1920x1080.
    Just measured, my browser is a little more than 1024 pixels wide, so these new forums indeed wouldn't fit the screen of my old centrino notebook with 1024x768 display. Pretty much all other web content still looks fine at that width.
    So that's really a bit poor design IMHO...

    I don't care for the forums being the entire width of my screen either. I lose my place too often when the lines of text are so long. Is there any way to adjust the text to just be in the center 3/4 of the screen?

    I love how fast the new forums load for me and don't mind the color changes too much. My problem is that I also have a very hard time reading posts when they are the whole width of my 20" monitor. If there is a way to adjust this, I would love to know!

    Progress...

    I can see the improvement in the color contrast today, it is a bit better. I also wish, however, that we could adjust the forum width so that it did not sprawl the entire width of the browser window. I have a largish monitor and run Chrome at full screen, it's tiring for me if reading multiple posts to be constantly tracking from one edge of the screen to the other.

    I have found several issues regarding the new forums, which I would like to see resolved. I will list them below.

    1. One of my machines is a netbook that I use when I don't need a gaming machine, and yet want to browse the forum. Unfortunately, it is already rather old, ie a MSI Wind 100 with a really small screen (10"). Its resolution is 1024x768.

    Opera seems to have an issue with lines which are too long for this resolution. While Chrome renders the top menu (Explore Middle-Earth, The Game, Community etc) as is (sending the 'Play Free Now' entry halfway into a space beyond the screen and becasue of this adding a horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the page) Opera tries to fit everything into the available screen. The result is a menu shaped like a ladder, with each entry being one of its steps, which altogether overlap the following portion of the page. The entry 'Play Free Now' is right beneath the words 'Announcements and Official Discussions', because of that re-arrangement.

    Not related to screen size, but issues as well:

    2. When I enter www.lotro.com in any browser, I get forwarded to a German Register Now (completely obsolete) page first, and if I use the tiny link on its top right to move on to the *real* Lotro.com, there is no menu bar on the next welcome page. Only after setting the page to English, I can see a line with 'Explore Middle-Earth, The Game, Community', and so on. I would rather enter the forum from the German Welcome page, too.

    3. Seabird (a Mozilla derivative combining browser and mail client into one) sees your 'https' as untrustworthy. I had to set an exception rule, to be able to see the pages with this browser.

    If you could please resolve these issues, it would improve the page greatly. Many thanks in advance,

    Great! Thanks ever so much. It helps a lot. There is still a tiny bit not showing on the the side of the screen and the letters are smaller, but now I don't have to scroll from side to side in order to read posts. I knew there was probably something simple I could do to fix it, but being useless with computers, what that simple thing was escaped me. Thanks again.

    Someone posted elsewhere that they have coded the forums incorrectly. They are not supposed to be the width of your monitor - just the width of the browser window. Maybe I can try to find that post, where someone with experience points out what they are doing wrong. Hopefully they will fix this.

    I warned them about this way back before they even started. But do they listen to people who actually know what they're talking about? Nope they go and hire a bunch of hippy amateurs who can't code for toffee and make the industry look bad.

    Already have multiple times, they've even been given the exact code needed, but they don't listen.

    Given that the whole theme is something they bought ready-made for 30$, they clearly never meant to spend any time or effort on it.

    I also am having screen width issues with the forums. The monirot I have to use at work is limited to 1024x762, no cariatons allowed by IT. Unfortunately, scaling the Firefox window is not a viable option: making the poorly setup fonts smaller does nothing to help their readability.

    If you are using Firefox or Chrome as your browser, you can fix the width of the forums (and other pages) using the Stylish plug-in like this:

    First, install the Stylish add-on (Firefox or Chrome).

    For 1024 wide screens, I am using the following CSS code:

    Code:
    body {
    min-width: 990px !important;
    width: 1000px !important;
    margin: 0px !important;
    }
    .header-wrap > header > nav > ul {
    padding-left: 256px !important;
    }
    body div header nav.main > ul > li {
    padding-left: 20px !important;
    background: none !important;
    }
    I am applying the code to the following:

    URLs starting with http://www.lotro.com/
    URLs starting with https://www.lotro.com/

    No more left/right scrolling required on any page.

    What annoys me is they spent $35 buying the current them ...

    When they could have spent $4 more and gotten a better and more appropriate theme ...
