    Wow people just need to relax a little.

    If you thin my comment was dismissive just because I don't understand what the problem is, then too bad.

    And I never said I had good sight. I use glasses since 13 years ago, so you can't say my sight is perfect :P

    But from what I understand, light font in a dark background is not precisely the worst color configuration to read.

    If you don't like my answer, then too bad. But you don't have to around thinking it was with a bad intention :P

Turbine, you need to (at the very least) let us choose white on black or black on white for the text.
    Same thing here. I'm starting to get that sweet dizziness-and-nausea winning combo with a touch of tension behind the eyes that usually announces nothing good. It's getting hard deciphering the text through a sort of snowfield layer of blinking lights. I'm particularly appreciating the inverted-colors-flashing in the type box. And a warm welcome to our epileptic friends!

    Nice dismissing of someone's legimate physical discomfort based on absolutely no authority whatsoever.

    Milithion, SNy-lotrolinux-EU and the others who posted about Stylish, you guys are lifesavers. Is there any way we can coordinate our efforts to propose alternative styles? I might try to whip up a black-text-on-white style if I can later on.

    My eyes and my stomach thank you from the bottom of their heart I modified your style example so I have pure white on pure black, now I am not getting the a migraine with flashing lights and puking. I tried black on white also, and while the posts looked great the rest of the forum looked horrible. If I get time I will wok on making a black on white style for the forums.

    I wasn't dismissing anything I was honestly surprised. The grey on grey actually is much easier on my head and eyes than the previous colors.

    As someone who has suffered from text book classical migraines with full blindness, disorientation, opposite side numbness and brutal headaches that last days, frequent vomiting, and light, touch, and noise sensitivity so bad that the weight of a simple sheet or the sound of it moving against my own skin are like jackhammers with swords attached hammering in my head. I suffer pretty much every symptom you see listed in a medical text book (hence the name of my particular form). I've dealt with these for more than 30 years now, been hospitalized with them several times because they were so severe doctors thought I was actually having a stroke. My brother has the same condition and severity and my father before his passing had it as does my sister. So I think I speak with some authority on the subject. Migraines are something I know intimately. I can even tell you, within about 20 minutes, when I'll have one after drinking a glass of orange juice (one of my primary triggers).

    All that said I dug around and lightened the post color a bit, so its a few shades brighter now. Also manage to tone down the massive white font text on the front page and fix the issue with the usernames showing up a blinding white as well.

    Oh! This is much much easier on my eyes and they don't hurt anymore. Thank you, Sapience!

    Much better! Thank you. (And I hope you find a way to reliably avoid your migranes, Sapience. That sounds horrific!)

    While I don't have the migraine issue, the problem I was having is the letters blending into the background due to being far-sighted. I feel for those that are so easily susceptible to migraines.

    And yes, the change you made Sapience is much better. I think I'd still prefer a white font, but I can deal with this. Thanks!

    If you're familiar with migraines you should know that there is little "textbook" about them. Mine for example do not always provoke intense pain (and I'm so grateful for that fact every single day) but I always get intense dizziness (to the point where I have to crawl because the world is suddenly upside-down), difficulty speaking, weird verbal tics, the inability to grab things tight and I suspect that my inexplicable recent toothaches might also be related. That never lasts for less than 5 consecutive days. My only known triggers are straining my eyes (I really wasn't kidding when I said I was getting sick just reading this thread) and sleeping more than 7h per night (???). Arbitrary little buggers, those migraines.

    -----

    Anyways, because I like not getting migraines even better than I love complaining (that's saying something!), I whipped up a little Stylish thingy for myself. It basically inverts the whole theme into black text on white background. I took the different tints from the icons mostly because I am unimaginative and it was supposed to be functional and not a piece of art.

    Some warnings:
    * I know next to nothing about css so it's probably terrible: bad indentation, bad comments, inneficient everything, etc.
    * Some stuff is still missing (footer mostly) but I might go back and edit that too
    * I just noticed previewing this post that the code window background is missing as well :P

    Code:

    Could we please get the background grey a little more lighter? I've been looking around the new site for about half an hour -- It looks great, it's very organized, performs well and I only have two complaints -- and it's starting to get to the point that I can't clearly read the text. When I look away it's like I've been staring into a desklamp for a few seconds, and now I'm starting to see double when reading posts. I know it's not a problem everyone's having so it probably won't get another tweak, but this sort of theme is what drove me away from the official Skyrim forums. :s

    Before we got the revamp I was using a nice soft green, blue and yellow theme since we could use that colour changer for the theme. VBulletin doesn't have that but I'm hoping over the next few months a few more themes will be released so people have options.
    That's the only concern I have, the harsh contrast. The other issue concerns the site not fitting on my screen anymore but I can learn to live without the rightmost 10% of the site.

    * I'm severely short-sighted and have to wear glasses so that's probably got a lot to do with the complaint.

    Edit: I just whacked my leg on the computer desk because my eyes got washed out by the dark background. I have to watch where I'm going. xD

    Please put in a customizer of the forum page. Im also finding this white words on black background uncomfortable. At the very least is there a way to make it like newsprint with black letters and white background?
    The shock of the glare has me skimming posts and I may have missed the solutions if they were posted before.

    I understand you guys worked hard on the forum and am not wanting to be a nuisance but I keep hearing Gollum in my head saying,"it burns..it burns...."

    I much prefer the black on white which occurs when you are previewing the post.

    This is a big improvement! Even lighter then I had thought you would go so thumbs up, thank you.

    I must say I find it quite strange that the Turbine forum developer know so little about styles, making a few styles dark/light & fixed/auto width shouldn't take more than a few hours if he know what he is doing.

    Even one of your own members could fix your "strange" style in a few hours...

    The wideness of the forums is the worst for me. I find it easier to read something a little narrower, maybe around 80%? Otherwise, I'm not overly impressed with the site, it seems like a cookie cutter, out of the box theme that gets bought from one of those theme sites. Even just header imagery would be lovely, and it won't hit the servers too hard either. A good designer would be able to make something wonderful without it putting strain on the server. The free Zetaboard designers do nicer things. Either way going to hit up that style plugin and make my own theme. I was definitely expecting more.

    In my opinion the site might be faster and more effeciënt, but it is not as user friendly anymore. Logging in takes me through multiple pages. The option to remember an username is also missing. Almost every site remembers where you where when you click the log-in button, making the simple proces of logging in a lot more quicker.

    The colour scheme of the new site is depressing me. Everything is black and grey. I hoped for a bit more colour, this is not really the place to boast about your achievements or post screenshots of the nice weather in Forochel. What about a brown background extending the bar at the top of the page?

    I'll end with another positive thing I've noticed. Signature levels can be edited again, the maximum character length has been loosened.

    Well Gosh. I like the speed of the forums now, they load in a about 1 second flat. Well done.

    That being said, a survey of members of my household indicates that 3 out of 3 hate the pale gray text on gray / dark gray / black background. Everyone in this house types for *hours* a day as part of our work, and all of us cannot stand inverted text/background styles.

    After about 12-15 minutes of reading these forums I had to get up and walk away this morning. I am over 50, am near-sighted *and* far-sighted, with just a touch of astigmatism, and these forums are *DIFFICULT* to read after a bit. The edges get fuzzy, and the text starts to blend a bit, and I start to get little visual optical illusion effects in places. Even the most *BASIC* invert as a sole option would be far far better than no choice at all.

    And not everyone in the world runs Firefox. I do, but my spouse does not. But here's a clue: when you see people writing code to get around what you are handing them, it's an indication that they're serious when they complain.

    in re: Sapience. If i got migraines the way you do, I'd never never have agreed to be a community relationship person. Dealing with me and these other yahoos (in a Jonathan Swift way) on these forums would trigger my migraines regularly. I feel genuinely sorry for anyone at Turbine that has to regularly interact with us - not that it stops me from posting when I get riled up, or filing support tickets, or /bugs or anything else. But sympathy I have.

    I think it looks nice at this point, Everyone that has worked on it has done a great job. After all we all asked for improvements which we have gotten. No more Beta . I say Keep up the good work and Thank You. I will miss some of the features myself. Yet as with life things change. And I am sure they will work on fixing things for those of us that find it hard to see.

    And I find that light purple colour you used to be really harsh on the eyes.. and I find the colour scheme that's been chosen for the forums as a whole to be very friendly on my eyes (except this area you type your message in.. the white seems too bright.)

    I think this screams the need to let people customise their background, font, etc colours like we could on the old forums. This need for this should definitely be reevaluated and actually made a top priority so everyone can have an easy and comfortable time reading the forums.

    I will start by saying that I do really love the speed of the new forums, but I do wish that there was a custom palette available for those of us who need/desire one.

    Thank you for this code I tweaked it a bit... larger avatar icons and usernames, and I like the current margins. I picked a blue font, I find that the blue on grey helps me stop squinting LOL, much like the pink and orange fonts did. This forum blue is not the same as the one I chose, but it is a close approximation; if someone else wants to make use of the color code.

    Code:
    @namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);

    @-moz-document

        }

        /* font size for the post content */
        .postbit .postrow {
            font-size: 13px                 !important;

            border-top-color: #353535       !important;
        }

        .postuseravatarlink img {

    This code only works for an open forum thread; I would love to actually adjust the entire site, does anyone have a code that they have done for that?

    Turbine web guys, now, look what you did!

    You enabled these completely useless editor features that allow large scale modification of fonts and what-have-you which helps people create these abhorrently colored and huge text walls.

    Thanks to you, I felt compelled to invest further time into my Stylish theme. It will now ignore most of the nonsense the posters above came up with. Enjoy, as long as you can.

    To those that posted these: think before you post!

    From a user stand point its a huge fail having light text on dark backgrounds, for myself anymore than a couple of threads makes my eyes go funny so I won't be spending much time here anymore. I run my own forum with my business so know how easy it is to make a light style, half a day at most. You would find your analytic stats go though the roof with a light style...

    Shocking to see you went with vBulletin again, so many bugs. Xenforo or ips would have been the better professional choice, this isn't even responsive for mobile.

    Like everything in this game lately it looks rushed and not thought out.

    By all means, go ahead. See notice in the new version.
    Am thinking about uploading it to the stylish site. Maybe later.

    Dear mother god of all that is holy, that blue-on-gray is a million times worse than anything satan himself could come up with. You just made the grey-on-grey look palatable by comparison. My eyes feel like I just stared into a camera flash. I actually think I can see your post on the back of my eyelids.
