[RP Event] Imladris Revelries, a weekly RP gathering

There is an inn, a merry old inn
    beneath an old grey hill,
And there they brew a beer so brown
That the Man in the Moon himself came down
one night to drink his fill.

In these darkening days, when the shadow from the East seems to stretch to touch the lives of all, be they Men, Elves, Hobbits or Dwarves, it is important to remember the strength that can be found in company, and the hope that comes of friendship and laughter.

To this end, the Imladris Revelries hope to unite all members of the Free Peoples with a weekly gathering of song and dance, drinks and story-telling, but also the exchange of news about the rising threat in the East and the forging of alliances and friendships to counter this threat.

You are cordially invited to attend the first such gathering hosted by Ellonur in the Bird and Baby Inn in Michel Delving, The Shire, on Saturday, July 20, at 6pm EST/servertime.

Carlo Blagrove will reserve a few kegs of his finest ales for us, and everyone who feels so inclined is encouraged to share their music, tales, poetry or riddles - or, of course, simply to enjoy the company!

    OOC information:

The Imladris Revelries are a weekly RP gathering open to all interested RPers of this server. Hosts and places will switch weekly (and will be announced in this thread), and we strive to keep our group of volunteers and organizers as diverse as possible, with representatives from larger and smaller RP kins, RPers from kins that do not RP, as well as RPers without kin.

The Imladris Revelries want to bring together the RPers of this server in a friendly atmosphere that will offer something for everyone. There will be the chance for light, casual RP for characters who simply want to enjoy drinks, dance and good company; a welcoming setting for those who would like to entertain with music, tales or poetry; and of course it is a chance to share news of war and adventure and seek allies or companions for more involved RP plots!

We'd love to have you and any interested RPers from your kin whenever you find the time - I still remember the Mr. and Mrs. Shire contest you ran very fondly!

We already have volunteers to host the event for the following two Saturdays (I will post once we have details on time/place), so hopefully one of those will work out for you as well.

Forgive the stupid question, but I honestly just didn't know:

how does this RP thing work? Do you just show up and strike up a conversation in character? I've never really participated in RPing before.

  5. #5
    Hi,

The Imladris Revelries are supposed to be a casual setting where everyone can just walk in and strike up a conversation in character, so indeed, that is pretty much how RP is going at these events. After all, pretty much every character can walk into an inn for some ale - no elaborate backstories required. If you'd like to give it a try, you are welcome to show up and join in!

Here's a good guide on how to get started on RPing: http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/A_%22...e_to_role-play

Thank you to everyone who attended yesterday! There were at least twice as many people as I expected, with a great mix of old and new faces, and we had a lot of fun drinking, dancing, smoking and watching hobbit burglars at work! So thank you everyone for making this first week of the Imladris Revelries such a success!

Next week's Imladris Revelries will be hosted by Rising Force on the evening of Saturday the 27th, I will update this thread as soon as we know the exact time and location.

    Greetings!

The next Imladris Reveleries will take place on Saturday, August 3rd in The Hall of Fire in The Last Homely House of Imladris, at 6pm EST/servertime. The hosts for this revelry will be the quadumvirate of Lady Ningannel, Magistrate Finrun, Marchwarden Melloncolle, and Captain Rannon. Contact Finrun in-game if you have any questions about this week's revelry (you can also contact the beautiful and talented Ellonur with any questions as well).

As usual, all interested RPers are welcome - this is a casual gathering, and we are always happy to see new faces!

Enjoy the festivities, and remember *not* to tell Master Elrond that we're taking over his house for a party. Because... he enjoys surprises like this. Seriously.

Hope to see you next weekend!

Thank you to everyone who attended last week and turned this into such an entertaining evening, with stories of dragon slayers and terrible curses!

This week, we will stay in the Elvish lands (can't beat that wine!) and will gather at 6pm EST/servertime at the Celondim docks, Ered Luin on Saturday the 10th.

Yes, fishing is allowed, so bring a rod if you want, but be prepared to tell tall tales of your catch! Your host this week will be Ellonur, Middle-earth's resident expert on Nazgul-fish, so maybe you'll even be treated to a song about that most terrible fish of all. Anyone else who would like to entertain, be it with stories, music, poetry, riddles etc., is welcome to do so - contact Ellonur if you have any further questions.

This week's Imladris Revelries event will be a tea party hosted by Tugillion and the lovely Fannir. It will be located at around Falathlorn 29.4s,92.7w (that pretty pink place in Celondim...if you need assistance with finding it PST to Tugillion. Basically, just follow the path south out of Celondim until you see statues.) The event will start at 6pm EST/servertime on Saturday, August 17. We'll be serving specially imported teas from Caras Galadhon, it would be very much appreciated if you dress accordingly to the event and leave your weapons behind. Thank you!

    Hello everyone,

I'm sorry for the late notice, but due to RL issues, this Saturday's Revelries switched hosts and will now be hosted by Culgondrian. You can send her a tell tomorrow for the exact location and time (probably not later than 6pm EST/Servertime though), or you can always come back and check this thread, which I will update as soon as we have exact information.

    Happy revelling!

Today's Imladris Revelries will take place at the Bree Town Hall at 5:30 pm EST/servertime.
Grannie is organizing The Bachelor's Hero Auction for the Rebuilding of Archet - so entertainment is guaranteed.

Any and all Bachelors are welcome to volunteer. If you would like to do so, just send a short in-game letter to Grannie with a little description of yourself, so she has a blurb to read out when you get auctioned off.

Any currency will do, you can bid with coin, wood, trousers or even your gammer's pie. Best bid wins! You win a full day with these strapping lads. They can do your bidding - within reason of comfort of course!

I hope we can help to see Archet rebuilt soon!

As usual, all interested RPers are welcome - this is a casual gathering, and we are always happy to see new faces!

This week's Revelry will take place on Saturday the 7th at the Children of Arda kinhouse (5 Waterbank Road, Lant Veren, Falathlorn homesteads) at 4pm servertime/EST, where Ellonur will host a dragon party! You can wear a dragon costume, if you like, and we will have a live dragon there who will tell each guest their fortune! Please do not attempt to slay the dragon while the party goes on, as hiring a living dragon is quite expensive! Furthermore, there will be a yard sale so that Zhie can empty out the hidden treasures of the kinhouse's chests, so best bring some gold!

If you can't make it that early, late arrivals are welcome as well - we usually stick around for a few hours at the Revelries!

Anniversary Party! Saturday, September 14th, 6pm EST/server time!

“If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.”

Please join us for the third anniversary of two allied kinships: Children of Arda and Rising Force.

    Food, drink, song and story!

It will be held where it all began, The Spade kin-tavern at 2 Waterbank, Roslad, Falathlorn homesteads. Look for the majestic shrew statue! It’s a casual watering hole with casks from Rohan and pictures hanging at jaunty angles.

(This is a come-as-you-are RP kegger. We’d love to see you there.)

The Farmer's Faire is over, which means that all those tourists have left Bywater at last, and it is the perfect time for a trio of elves to burgle- uh, rent the Bamfurlong mushroom tents to share the delights of hobbit mushrooms with their guests!

The lovely Tugillion, fine Fannir and the one and only Ellonur would like to invite you to partake of the finest Shire mushrooms on Saturday the 21st at 6pm EST/servertime at the Bamfurlong mushroom tents (south of Stock, The Shire). If anything weird should happen, you must be imagining things. Purple mushrooms are perfectly safe to eat!

(As unfortunately there are no longer any weird mushrooms to eat at the mushroom field, we'd like to invite you to bring along any consumables you might have left over. Now's the perfect time to use up all those doom-shrooms or saffron's kisses and blame the effects on the mushrooms! )

    Werewolves in the Lonelands!

This Saturday's Revelry will be a murder mystery taking place in the Forsaken Inn in the Lonelands at 6pm EST/servertime on October the 5th .

Any RPer who wants to take part will end up as part of a group of people trapped in the Forsaken Inn, where recent rumors of werewolves have begun to make the rounds. When people start to die, an investigation will be started, and soon you might find yourself trying desperately to prove your own innocence - or to wait for the cover of night to kill an innocent patron of the inn.

This event will depend on everyone who wants to take part to listen to the tells of Eluivor, the host of the event, who will also function as a game master to make the murder mystery work. Before the game starts, he will randomly assign roles of innocents and werewolves to the RPers present via tells. This way, he will tell all the werewolves about the identity of the other werewolves, while everyone else won't know if the person next to them is an innocent patron of the inn, or secretly a werewolf.

Eluivor will guide the murder mystery by pronouncing when it will become night or day. During night, it is assumed that everyone sleeps. Yet the night is also the time during which the werewolves start to hunt... During this time, the werewolves hunt by deciding on a victim and then sending Eluivor a tell with the name of the victim.

There is also one patron with secret knowledge - every night, this person can send Eluivor a tell to ask him for the identity of one of the patrons. Thus, this person will know more than the gathered innocent people, but at the same time, will have to be careful with their knowledge, lest they become the werewolves' target next.

When it becomes day again, the werewolves assume the innocent guise of patrons once more, and Eluivor will have the sad duty to tell the gathered crowd about the death of one of them. After this, all patrons (yes, also the werewolves in disguise!) get to talk among themselves to figure out who among them is a werewolf. Accusations, suspicion, dragging out old stories or revealing that your friend from Combe is a terrible liar, and so it can't be him - all of that is allowed. Feel free to have fun during that part. Eluivor is there to keep the peace should it look as if it will come to blows between patrons. After a while, Eluivor will call for a vote, and everyone (yes, also the werewolves in disguise) will get to vote for a patron who they think is secretly a werewolf.

This person will get beheaded by Vereyar (or maybe just locked in the cellar for the time being, until Eluivor has sorted all this werewolf trouble out ). This player cannot take part in the discussions anymore, and Eluivor will tell the gathered crowd whether they just sent an innocent or a real werewolf off for execution.

After this, night returns, and werewolves prowl as the patrons fall asleep, and the cycle starts anew with the werewolves secretly deciding on their next victim...

The event ends when either all werewolves are dead, or all patrons are dead.

(For those worried, for the sake of continueing RP with all characters who show up, no one will get killed off in truth, and we shall have the convenient excuse of the horrible Forsaken Inn Swill to blame for having the weirdest nightmares, after it has all ended... )

    Hello,

this Saturday's Revelry will be hosted by Musickiel. See the following letter for more information:

    "Greetings Friend,
I send this letter to invite you on a quest to rid Middle Earth of an over run band of outlaws taking refuge in a ruin near High King’s Crossing, Evendim. Please join me this Saturday, at 6pm server time, at 14.2S 60.9W, this location is where we will gather to compile strategies on how to bring down this band. The feat will not be easy, fresh troops of the enemy arrive periodically, but we shall stay until our hearts no longer remain in the battle. At the coordinates previously mentioned, we will keep our strength with the meat of beasts to the north, as well as keep up our mood with song and drink. I do hope you will join me in this battle to protect the free peoples."

    Hello!

This week's revelry is hosted by Taursador, Breeland Magistrate.

The Magistrate will be holding a 'town hall' style meeting in Bree (with plans to ride to Bree and hunt the 'werewolves' of the Lone Lands after).

The meeting starts at 8pm server time, which will begin with the airing of grievances.

    Hope to see you there!

This week.. a special Sunday edition of the Revelries!

Join us in Rivendell for the Council of Elrond After Party!

Seems like Lord Elrond had some sort of super secret council the other day, and while he reported invited some Hobbits and some Elves and some Dwarves and Men... he didn't invite any of us.

That's okay. We're just going to crash the Hall of Fire and have our own 'council'. And by council, I mean singing, drinking, dancing on the tables, and generally anything short of being kicked out of the Homely House.

See you at 4:00 p.m. server time in the Hall of Fire!

This weeks Revelry will take place today, from 6-8pm EST/servertime, at The Spade (2 Waterbank Road, Roslad, Falathlorn Homesteads).

Ellonur will host a costume party with the simple theme: Dress up as a person from a different race! So Elves can pretend to be Dwarves, Men can be Hobbits... anything goes. If you feel insulted by someone's portrayal, Ellonur suggests to feed them to the undead bear. Or of course there is always punching.

    Hello,

the IR takes place today from 6-8pm servertime at the farming fields at Hobbiton (north across the bridge). It will be an informal little farming gathering where folks can chat, exchange news, or - farm! (And with the new crafting tiers, those of you who want to level their cooking are welcome to the new materials we'll farm up!)
