    A Guide to the Survivors of Wildermore

    GREETINGS!
    In the spirit of Fredelas' Hytbold guide, I decided to start one of my own for Wildermore. I couldn't find one that had already been posted, anyway, so why not? Once I got started, I thought I might as well share my findings with the rest of you. I'm by no means as good at this as Fredelas, but even a lame guide is better than no guide at all.

    I will fill in details as I come to them. If you would like to contribute, please do. I have yet to fill in a few of the crafting details but the rest of this guide is complete.
    HOW DO WE START?
    After questing all the way through Wildermore you reach the instance called "Final Stand" in which you fend off Nurzum while defeating grims. Once that is completed you go to Forlaw's "town square". It is right inside the south gate. There are 2 barter NPCs, a bloke who gives the "do 5 quests" daily, and 6 NPCs who offer you your daily options. These all seem to vary by day, as Hytbold's did, with the exception of Hildelith, the Crafting Requests NPC. Her quests are keyed specifically to your profession.

    The first person you talk with is Cole. He is sitting on the steps outside the Feasting Hall, on the north part of the town square. He bestows a quest called "Wildermore's Recovery". Cole is to Wildermore what Rinwald was to Hytbold. Cole's Wildermore Recovery is exactly like Rinwald's "Aiding the Eastemnet". He requires you to complete five quests, which are obtained from the six NPCs around you. They are Britric (Bounty Listings), Dudoc (Mounted Combat Listings), Ealswith (Regional Listings), Gyric (Battle and Event Listings), Hildelith (Crafting Requests), and Manni (Warband Listings). The other two NPCs of note in this town square are Hunman (Survivors of Wildermore) and Ethelmund (People of Wildermore), the two reputation barterers.
    ANY DEEDS TO TRACK OUR PROGRESS?

    There are deeds for five of the six quest types. The exception would be, of course, the Crafting Requests. I suppose a person could do quests for one vocation and then switch vocations a few times. But it would be unrealistic to leave your vocations, work up to Eastemnet, all for the sake of a deed, and incredibly unfair to people who actually care about crafting and have gone through all the work for their guilds, etc. So no deed for these quests. There is also a capstone deed, which I list below.
    WHERE IS THE BROKEN-DOWN TOWN?

    Unlike Hytbold, it seems you will not be rebuilding anything. Unless I'm blind, there will be no special phasing involved either. No buildings to repair, no new facilities to unlock. These quests seem designed for only two purposes: to gain reputation with the Survivors of Wildermore faction, and to earn Gold Tokens of Wildermore to barter for equipment, recipes, etc.

    It seems that you are finished with these dailies once all the deeds are completed and you hit kindred (unless, of course, you choose to continue running them to barter for valuables). Based on that, I heard a rumor that this will take ~25 days. However, since you can make 2500 reputation each day, it seems that 34 is the minimum. From Neutral (0/10000) to Kindred (30000/30000) you must earn 85000 reputation. 85000/2500=34. It is possible that ~25 days refers to the amount of time to complete the deeds (of course this would depend on whether you are lucky enough to get the quests you need each day, or whether some will stubbornly remain unavailable the way some did for Hytbold, thereby preventing you from completing the deeds for an undetermined amount of time). More on this will become available as information comes in.
    HOW OFTEN CAN WE COMPLETE THESE QUESTS?

    You may complete Wildermore's Recovery once a day, so five of the available dailies. The reset seems to be at 3AM EST, which is fairly standard. This quest may be reset for 5 Mithril Coins, though it is up to you to weigh the pros and cons. Since there are only a limited amount of quests each day, you probably wouldn't even have any reason to reset them more than once each day.

    Britric: Bounty listings

    Britric is in the north-east corner of the town square, at 39.3S by 60.8W, sifting through what looks like... hides? With a 2-Orc Heads on a Pike sticking up next to him? Britric is the Bounty Listings NPC. He seems to offer one bounty each day. His eight bounties are listed below.

    Bounties are very straightforward. You are sent out into the landscape where you hunt down a foe and defeat him. Then you come back to Forlaw and turn in the bounty. Difficulty may vary.

    Bounty: Keen-eye
    Objective:
    Defeat Keen-eye and collect his beak
    Additional Details:
    Keen-eye has 22k morale and can be summoned on top of the hill Oreald, at roughly 32.3S by 63.6W. The location is in the south part of the High Knolls, west of Scylfig. A Craban Nest is located there which you use to trigger Keen-eye. Summon him, defeat him, and head on back to Forlaw.

    Krah has 22k morale. He can be summoned right outside Dunfast at 37.5S, 66.2W. You will be looking for a pair of "goblin footprints". He comes out in stealth mode so you may not see him at first as he sneaks up at you. Summon him and defeat him, then head back to Forlaw.

    Dudoc: Mounted combat listings

    Dudoc is in the south-west corner of the town square, at 39.4S by 60.8W, brushing off a horse. Dudoc is the Mounted Combat Listings NPC. He seems to offer 1-2 mounted combat quests each day. They seem to be connected by location if there is more than one. He offers a total of seven quests.

    Mounted Combat quests seem to be just like normal landscape quests, though they take place within an instance. You are sent out into the landscape where you hunt down and defeat foes, often collecting items from them. Then you come back to Forlaw and turn in the quests. Difficulty may vary.

    Thrymm's Farm: Cleansing
    Objective:
    Cleanse Thrymm's Farm of messes (0/6)
    Additional Details:
    Piles of messes are scattered on the ground in the farm. Just ride up and clean them up.

    Additional Details:
    This is really easy. Enter the instance, mount up, and have at them! However, mobs are closely packed and respawn fast. Full speed may not be feasible. Those of you with massively-ranged AoE's (minstrels!) will want to be careful, otherwise you'll kill your 15 enemies but end up with a pack on your heels.

    Ealswith: Regional listings

    Ealswith is in the inner south-west corner of the town square by the centerpiece, at 39.4S by 60.8W, standing with two Dunfast refugee children. Ealswith is the Regional Listings NPC. Much like Dudoc, she seems to offer two generic quests each day that are connected by location. She has a total of 10 quests that she will offer you.

    Regional quests seem to be just like normal landscape quests. One quest will send you out to kill enemies. The second quest will have you collecting things, interacting with the landscape, etc. When you finish, come back to Forlaw and turn in the quests. Difficulty may vary.

    Balewood: A Strong Resemblance
    Objective:
    Collect promising-looking plants (0/8)
    Additional Details:
    These plants can be a little difficult to locate. They seem to be most populated in the area along the east side of the road/path that leads through Balewood. They look like very small shrubs or moss on the ground.

    Objective:

    Additional Details:
    Trees do not count for this quest. The wood-trolls and orcs do, and can be defeated just about anywhere. I found it best to just follow the path to the first orc encampment and just wipe out 10 of them there. Varg and his minions count, if you wanna double-up.

    The indicated passage is on the road up near Scylfig on your way from Forlaw to Byre Tor. Six spots will have a scattering of rocks located in them. Just stop, inspect one of the rocks in a given cluster, and then move on to the next.

    High Knolls: Driving Back the Enemy
    Objective:
    Defeat enemies in the High Knolls (0/10)
    Additional Details:
    The area in which to kill these mobs cover pretty much all of the High Knolls. Grims, wolves, orcs, etc. all count. I typically just run to Byre Tor and kill orcs there, since it isn't too far from the location for Tremors on the Tors and because orcs are fairly closely packed there.

    Additional Details:
    One watch-fire is on a hill overlooking the lake at 36.6S by 60.1W. Another is on the next hill over, on an outcropping of rock at 36.6S by 60.9W. The final watch-fire is on the beach between them.

    Gyric: Battle and event listings

    Gyric is in the inner north-east corner of the town square by the centerpiece, at 39.3S by 60.8W, standing with a flag in his hand. Gyric is the Battle and Event Listings NPC. There are five quests total from this NPC. He may or may not have quests for you. On my first day he had two, but on the next day he had none. If they are offered, they are connected by location. If it is Scylfig, then both quests are there. If it is Whitshaws, then all three quests are there. Some days nothing is offered, though. These instances are shared with other players, not exclusively ones in your fellowship -- it is a public zone.

    The Battle and Event quests are pretty unique and fun. Some quests share similarities to past quests from festivals and other such things. These quests are not landscape; once you accept the quests you speak to Gyric and are transported into a special instance zone. You complete your quests in that area. When you finish them, you return to Forlaw through a special instance steed (similar to the landscape instances in Hytbold where you kill mobs while mounted). Difficulty may vary.

    Scylfig: Target-shooting
    Objective:

    • Talk to Gyric to travel to Scylfig in the Writhendowns and speak with Wulfherr
    • Score points (0/100)
    Additional Details:
    This can be a tricky quest, with 3 minutes to complete it. Once you mount up you "use/equip" the bow you received. There are banners scattered around. I did not wander very far, but when you first enter there are some flags down the path on your left. They are red, blue and green. Red flags give 10 points, blue flags give 5 points, and green flags give 1 point. Standing still does not seem to work, neither does being unmounted. Much like the Hytbold quest from Cliving, Banners of the Enemy, you get a special skill box that pops up. It seems to be on a timer. If it ever disappears, simply reuse the bow you received. Since the area is rather small where I was, I just trotted along at a slower pace, making casual circles around the banners. I found it to be tricky because I would navigate with my mouse but also needed my mouse to click the skill buttons. To avoid this, try using your arrow keys to turn your steed while using the mouse independently to use the skills.

    Addendum:
    If you go over the skills, you'll see a tooltip telling you how much fury you need.
    Red Flag 500 - Blue Flag 750 and Green Flag 1000
    Easiest way to do the quest is staying at 500 fury and circle around a red flag.

    Whitshaws: Mounted Fishing
    Objective:

    • Talk to Gyric to travel to the Whitshaws and speak with Rilbert
    • Use the net sack to obtain your skills
    Catch 30 fish. This quest must be completed while mounted. Use the sack you receive and you'll get a 5 minute timer. You have 3 net sizes: red (cooldown of 2s, range of 2.2m and radius of 2m), blue (cooldown of 8s, range of 4.4m and radius of 4m), and green (cooldown of 18s, range of 8.2m and radius of 8m). Green, being largest, can be used to catch several fish at once, but the longer cooldown makes it impractical to use exclusively. Use the red nonstop, throwing out green and blue only when their cooldowns are over.

    Basically click one of the skills and then click near a fish. Selecting the fish won't work, so don't click right on it. You can be in motion or standing still; a slow trot worked for me. Being mounted is, as the name implies, required. If the skills go away, simply reuse the sack. Other people can catch the fish first but there are a lot of fish, so that shouldn't be a problem. This quest auto-completes.

    Whitshaws: Yst-arning
    Objective:

    • Talk to Gyric to travel to the Whitshaws and speak with Rilbert
    • Ride through the first blue gate
    This is a very easy race. First you ride through 9 blue gates, then you ride through 12 red gates. You get a whole minute between each gate. Some "puddles" are not frozen so you may get dismounted by riding on/through them. Turn in at Gyric or Rilbert. Rewards:

    Whitshaws: Jousting with Rohirrim
    Objective:

    • Talk to Gyric to travel to the Whitshaws and speak with Rilbert

    You must defeat 3 mounted jousters. They all have just shy of 27k morale and they stop fighting around 6k. Just ride up to one, talk to him, and then fight. Really easy. Turn in at Gyric or Rilbert. Rewards:

    Scylfig: A Celebration Feast
    Objective:

    • Talk to Gyric to travel to Scylfig in the Writhendowns and speak with Wulfherr

    UPDATED: This quest was previously disabled but is now available to players.

    Additional Details:
    There are four tables that are labeled A, B, C and D. You must race the NPCs to eat 10 foods. This is a lot like the eating contests in festivals. Some foods take longer than others. You get about 5m to eat all 10. The trick is that you may only each 1 piece of food at each table every 30s. So run to a table, eat one piece of food, run to the next, repeat, and so on. You can just run in a circle from one to the next. By the time you make a full circuit, the cooldown for the first table will have expired, permitting you to eat another piece of food there. The more people present at a given table the harder it may be. You may start to eat a food but at the end of the induction discover that one of the NPCs or another player finished it off first. You will receive debuffs from eating that severely hinder your speed. However, they are short-lived. I personally find the beverages to go down fastest.

    Hildelith: Crafting requests

    Hildelith sits in the north-west corner of the town square, at 39.3S by 60.8W, stirring something in her hands with some hide racks around her. Hildelith is the Crafting Requests NPC. She offers only the professions that you know. She seems to offer all two-three each day, so its your choice whether you do any of them.

    It seems that you must have your crafts to the Eastemnet level. Initially it seemed Farmers did not have a quest, though after more investigation that may actually be because my questing buddy (who was the farmer in our duo) might not have been to Eastemnet with that craft. But apparently she will not offer the quests unless you are to the max tier in your crafting. The quests only require one piece of crafting material, but it seems to be the highest-grade of craft material (the teal stuff), so that may or may not be a problem for you.

    Essentially, you accept the quest you want. Immediately you are given the recipe (single-use and non-tradeable) that is used for the quest. The recipe is found in your inventory and you learn it the same as any other recipe. Then you trot on over to the crafting hall (grabbing materials if you need to from your vault or the AH or whatever). Craft the item in question and bring it back to Hildelith.

    There is no deed associated with these quests, which is only logical since you can't have all the professions.

    Manni: Warband listings

    Manni is in the inner south-east corner of the town square by the centerpiece, at 39.4S by 60.8W, looking like he's about to charge into battle. Manni is the Warband Listings NPC. He will offer warband quests on a daily basis. The number of quests he will offer seems to vary. Additionally, it seems that if you have the "real" warband quest in your quest log, his quest for that warband will not be available, and vice versa. Whether by intent or bug, you cannot have the remote bestowed quest AND Manni's quest at the same time. There are 13 warbands total, and they seem to be connected by location on the landscape. Rottenheart and Varg; Shaguk, Arataus, Zovarr and Shum; the High Knolls Blizzard and Karkas; Conog and Gimtog; and Foulwing, Balcharan and Voz. So, for example, Rottenheart and Shaguk will never be offered on the same day.

    This is super obvious to anyone who has quested East Rohan and has dealt with warbands. Regardless of which warband quests he offers, you merely accept his quest and kill the warband on the landscape. Difficulty naturally varies. The Roman numerals seem to have little meaning. Chances are they are merely a way to differentiate between the normal quests and Manni's quests.

    Warband II: Rottenheart
    Objective:
    Defeat Rottenheart
    Additional Details:
    This is a raid warband. It is challenging but can be completed with certain duos; so far I have won it with the following duo combinations: minstrel/hunter, LM/warden, hunter/LM, and guardian/minstrel. A few cautionary tips. This area runs right up next to the Eaves of Fangorn. My questing buddy was knocked into Fangorn once and had to use a port skill to Farlow and then ride back up. During that time (with most of Rottenheart's allies defeated) I kited and maintained the fight until my friend returned. Also, the trees are closely packed and some evil huorn-types are scattered around, as well as some trolls. Full speed is not advised, and those with AoE's will need to take care unless they don't mind extra mobs on them. Most of the mobs have a knock-back skill or a skill that slingshots you towards them.Take extra caution if you stray close to the edge, because even if you don't accidentally ride off the cliff, you can be knocked off. Rottenheart has 423k morale and has 2 maddened wood-elders and 3 frenzied wood-trolls. The elders have 53k each, and the trolls have 94k each.

    Warband II: Varg
    Objective:

    This is a small fellowship warband. However, certain classes may find it easy enough (if lengthy) to complete solo. Both my lore-master and minstrel were able to defeat Varg without a problem. The landscape is tricky, though. My tactics are to aggro Varg's company and draw them out of Balewood a little ways. The obstacles are not as dense on the road near the rez circle. Varg has 141k morale and 5 allies: 3 ranged heart-seekers of 28k each, and 2 melee protectors of 53k each. All unmounted.

    This is a full fellowship warband. This guy can be quite difficult, so it definitely fits. He has two mounted allies of 50k each, and Voz himself has 225k. He is located in the NE Fallows / SW Writhendowns. Depending on the duo, my questing buddy and I have had both easy times and difficult times with him. We've had our share of wipes but are capable of beating him on every combo we've tried thus far (hunter/lm, warden/lm, hunter/mini). Part of the problem involves the number of other mobs out; several times we'd end up aggroing more mobx. Voz also can deal a massive attack (easily 6-8k in one blow) that can dismount you. Definitely take on this warband with caution, unless you have several persons with you.

    Mini-update: I believe an update a while back changes the prices on some (all?) items that can be bartered for in Wildermore. I intend to sit down sometime soon, now that I have another toon working through this area, and see what changes have been made.

    As it so happens, this toon is my Metalsmith, so finally I can add what is required for that craft's quest! ^_^
