Unhappy Please don't remove the leaderboards for PvMP

The leaderboards are nice, they provide an entertaining, competitive atmosphere, not only on the forums, but in game as well.

Unfortunately, Turbine has decided that they will no longer export any data from the game worlds to their web servers. It appears to be a cost saving message as a result of the dismal financial results Turbine had in 2012.

Warner Brother and Turbine identified a number of expenses that would be ended or cost reduced such as:

    1) No more French and German support for DDO.

    2) Ending one of the weekly Lotro community features by getting rid of the employee that provided it.

    3) Removal of the data exports and all the costs associated with bandwidth, CPU time and hardware for Lotro.

    4) Laying off customer representaties, community people and developers to cut human costs.

    5) Using someone other than Chase Thomas for the music in Helms Deep.

There are going to be a lot of other expense reductions that are not visible or easily recognized by the customers.

Final Thought - Things must have gone really bad at Turbine to result in any developers being laid off. Developers usually get cut after other cost saving are implemented and long period like a year of bad earnings takes place. Developers take a long time and are expensive to replace because of recruiting and training issue. My company figures that it takes about 50,000 dollars and year to acquire and train a replacement development engineer.
